  1. Nice development work on the airbox! Something about that long airbox simulation is ringing warning bells for me. Shouldn't there be some boundary layer effects visible? I would expect to see some effects akin to fluid flow between two plates (but 3D) what does the velocity contour look like?
  2. Cool man, All the best, I look forward to following your progress.
  3. It helps when you feel the need to affirm it with every post
  4. You're right rookie, you're always right rookie
  5. You need to read some books Race car chassis - Design and construction by Forbes Aird is one I would recommend. It's easy to read and has plenty of real world advice that you really need. This book will explain in layman's terms how you design a chassis (even a simple one) taking into account the loads that said chassis will experience. After that maybe Tune to win by Carrol Smith. This book will help you understand the basics of suspension and steering systems. Nothing you've done thus far is safe or functional. Harsh but true. I mean even fundamental stuff, like you've welded the chassis with a gassless mig. Gassless mig's do a shit weld to start with, then i bet every weld's been stop-start forming heaps of cold brittle point and undercuts, all nice stress concentration points. Then you're going to hard mount a vibrating engine to the frame. The flat, twin beam chassis has no real torsional stifness and will flex. Between the flexy chassis and the engine vibrations the welds don't stand a chance. You would have been better off making a chassis from wood and bolting it together. That's not even touching your suspension design... It's kind of a case of "you don't know what you don't know" Take a week read two books, get learned and then do a proper job of it!
  6. Hey Rob, Have you ever heard of cars running aggressive cams using an air flow meter rather than a MAP sensor? On kelfords site they list a regrind service for B18c engines, it also says theses can be run with stock ECU how is this possible? Do you re-harden the cams surface after a re grind? What are the implications to the power curve? Thanks Grant
  7. Now we're talking! Looking good.
  8. Thanks i need to know what this bit attaches to.
  9. Go look on your mx5 for us dave?
  10. That looks like a different rack. Id appreciated it if you could have a look cheers
  11. I need to know which port on the steering rack is the inlet and which is the return. Any help would be awesome! A is inlet B is return
  12. fea is ok but unless you have a way of verifying/calibrating your results all you are doing is generating pretty pictures
  13. No love for the pod filter set up though. Creating a greater restriction in the inlet path is not the way to improve power or economy, and that just looks silly
  14. Power steering fluid has nothing to do with lubrication of rack so you're not going to damage it by driving around. I would take the belt off and empty the system before driving though.
  15. That came up real nice, Hows the seat? Do those old leather seats go hard overtime? Any plans for leather wrap on the bars?
  16. Hey mate could you post up where you get the foam shield from? Thanks
  17. Probably using the turbo as some kind of mufler
  18. Murphy's Law nothings ever perfect! Sorry i didn't realize it was currently driving around.
  19. You don't know if it works for certain though, chances are there is going to be some kind of complication. Designing and Fabing engine mounts is hardly ground breaking stuff.
  20. ACE! So glad you decided to buy these wheels instead of the 15's Metal repairs are looking great. Almost broken the back of the beast with the rust repairs now.
  21. Hey, just got my first mini. 1980 Leyland mini 1000. Im doing eng at canterbury. Taking the car out on ruapuna on saterday should be a laugh!
  22. holy shit, is that you in that photo? must be same old gay shit act. haha
