  1. I have a couple of options for exhaust.. should I go with this http://shop.scootling.co.nz/index.php?a ... oductId=47 and not worry too much about it looking awesome as shit. Or should I go for one of these http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TECNIGAS-NEXT-R- ... 221wt_1139 which looks way more badass and will probably have more scope for tuning, but costs a hundred dollars more and I would have to wait for it to come from Germany..

  2. When moving down to Wellington I decided that a scooter would be the way to go and i managed to score this beast for 300 odd dollars.. Its an af18 sp which means it doesn't have a limiter and the little bugger actually goes really well esp considering my 110kg 6'4" frame. All electrics work the only issues are body panels only being clipped on (missing screws, easily fixed) no bin or gas cover locks and the front shocks are buggered beyond all buggery. Plans are to replace the locks and shocks, get some form of expansion chamber, maybe a 70cc barrel if i can get one for a decent price and some transmission parts to increase top speed also rejetting etc.

Where is a good place to get parts from? I have seen scootling.co.nz but they seem a little expensive and alot of what I am after is coming up out of stock.

  3. Old school friend - "Bro I just got a p10 4wd running 15 pounds 300kw" ooooh yeah haha! He goes on to tell me hes going to convert it to RWD. Playing along I asked if the gearbox was a weak point.. "nah mate its got a supra box".. "oh so supras came out with a 4wd transverse gearbox did they" "yeah mate pretty rare" It takes a lot not to call these guys out for being fuckwits aye.

  4. Hey guys sorry my net wasn't working for the best part of yesterday. I will en-devour to purchase/borrow a broken engine for mock up purposes before going the whole hog. I am not so set on this engine that if it has no shit show of working I will still go forward, but it seems like a reasonably do able idea in my head. now its time to dive in and start measuring and seeing what i need to cut or move etc.

Jase, this isn't my engine bay.. but it is the same.

  5. Hah, yeah the Cosworth would be at the top of my list.. but getting one here is neigh on impossible, and if so would cost moon beams.

I think I will have to go in tank pump due to hatchiness.. not too worried though, seems like the cleaner solution.

Will be looking out for a s2 engine, then get the box later on.. unless I get a good package deal.

The 3.8 is easily found, reliable, light enough, compact, produces decent power, simple and cheap as hell. I know it wont be the most powerful thing out of the box, but would have plenty of torque to drag the capri along. The option of supercharge or turbo is there too in the future if I see fit.

I know having Chev in Ford will get me a lot of hate from bogans around the place, but i couldn't give less of a fuck. At the end of the day I want a fairly powerful package that will take shit when it needs, and be reliable. If I were to modify a pinto and to turbo it or whatever, then blow it up i'm down the cost of building the engine. If I blow up a 3.8 I can easily find one and replace it for beans.

  6. Hey all,

As some of you know, I hope to begin an engine conversion on my Capri over the summer. I have began looking for a 3.8 holden v6 with a 5speed to use. Now I know of the obvious issues I will run into, such as the need for a custom length drive shaft, hoop, new mounts, possible tunnel mods, engine loom wired up etc. I am aware that I will need to be running an efi fuel pump. Is it best to mod the tank and go for an in tank pump/throw some baffles in that shit, or is it better to run a surge tank and slam it in the boot?

Basically, advice from others would be appreciated. Just tips on the smaller details that would or may be easily looked over in the planning stages, such as angles between the gearbox output and the diff and so on.

  7. Imo tires are one of the most important parts of keeping a car safe and on the road. Using semis that are probably hard, shitty in the wet, and perform badly when not at temp instead of regular tires just to save money, is pretty retarded. Especially considering you are buying brand new sets of wheels, new coilovers etc confuses the living shit out of me.

  8. Shouldn't have an issue fitting them man, you have positive offset wheels atm don't you? with a 7inch wide wheels you have heaaaps of room to get more negative. I have 15x8s on the back with +15 offset and still have tonnes of room either side of the wheel.
