  1. Love this car, what a life it's had! Glad I saved it twice from owners who treated it like shit.
  2. I wouldn't be suprised if they changed some of the pinouts. If you're lucky you haven't fried anything and you might just need to repin a couple things.
  3. Pinouts are usually printed on the board in my experience if you dont' have luck with diagrams.
  4. With those brackets you can add some strength/rigidity by staking them on the bends.
  5. Ling post but I would chuck some $$ in a hat to see this thing get an aftermarket ECU.
  6. Are any of the vacuum lines hooked up differently to the stock setup? In my old MR2 it had a smallport 16v motor setup which came from a FWD car with power steering, It always had a high idle when I got it. After reviewing another 16v smallport in a stock car at pickapart I carefully made note of what each of the lines connected to the TB did and worked out the powersteer idle up lines were looped (no PS in aw11 mr2). I blocked them off instead of looping and that sorted my problem. You might have a similar problem with lines being capped/looped?
  7. I think you've done/are doing a remarkably great job with this whole dealio.
  8. I think the $55 are a cheaper copy of the $100 one. I suppose if you only use it once that hurts but buy once, cry once.
  9. Vacuum fill kits on trademe aren't badly priced: https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/tools-repair-kits/repair-kits/listing-2534612104.htm?rsqid=208f7d2cbf5348d8b555dd4f1c58d5ad-001
  10. I'd look at thermostat too, had a few cars misbehave badly and all down to a dud thermostat.
  11. Had mine go in the old E34, new (aftermarket) switch was a dud. Found that the original switch worked fine but had worn down in the spot it was adjusted to. So I cut the face of the plunger off and a little bit of length of the shaft. Drilled and tapped the shaft and wound in a pan head screw. I was able to tune the switch into a spot that worked perfectly and will likely last another 25 years
  12. This is nice!! I feel like I know most 80's stuff well but these are new to me. Right up my alley though!
  13. Probably to the engine but vans are usually a bit tricky, highlux ran into this problem on his hiace doing the same, carb to efi, mani design not compatible with space. Have a look at whether gaskets are all shared on NZ gaskets. Believe they are within years of manufacture.
  14. These are pretty lego, I would go straight to 4y. Got to watch the coolant jacket behind number 4 on the head/block eroding away. So easy to spanner though. My experience is all while they are in a forklift though so can't help you beyond that and maybe LPG haha...
  15. Amazing, worth reading before work and being late as a result
  16. I hummed and hah'd over a 525i manual one in dark blue. BAD timing. Was a 540i on trademe recently, wanted a bit too much and not really interested in a v8 one tbh. 520i or 525i. Holla if you ever hear of one
  17. I'm looking for an E34 wagon as well and hummed and hah'd over your one before you bought it. I hadn't owned one at the time and since owning my 535i sedan I've been keen on an E34 wagz.
  18. Bit late now but don't suppose you looked through the output of both boxes? It probably just needs a persuasion tap from el hammeroso. Or is the support bearing slightly off?
