  1. Worked out well for me. Front of the hatch is as firm as my wagon.
  2. Go to Rangiora and buy/take without owners consent the other Subaru hatchback sitting in a field. Ill be your friend/lover for long time/5mins.
  3. Possibly most helpful picture ive ever posted anywhere...Go me
  4. 260mm approx from bottom of strut to bottom of spring perch, 540mm approx extended. Apparently EG civic struts can be fitted with a bit of modifying. Unsure how much modifying was necessary.
  5. The threads at the top have partially stripped on one strut where the top nut goes on. Half are still there so with a clean up it would work. Diameter is about 45-48mm measured with a ruler....so cant be much more accurate than that.
  6. That last pic cracked me up old boy. Bloody ludicrous height in the front. Able to purchase some GSR appropriate shocks from supercheaps and place cut springs onto them? Are struts interchangeable with EA81 ones? If they are - i have a pair of 2WD struts you may have - just need rethreading. Also have 2WD springs you may have.
  7. Reminds me of this a bit: Which is good because that thing was an awesome concept and a bit different (BDA rally prepped motor) http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/01/19 ... worth.html
  8. http://roadrat.isprettyawesome.com/ http://roadrat.isprettyawesome.com/ratt ... around.htm <-- useful article This thing was pretty quick at slipway. Owner was a gc too. Could be easy to mod plans for off road spec?
  9. Yeah got home sweet as mate. Im diggin those wheels on your car!
  10. Fuel movement inside the bowl is something to consider. I foolishly ignored it with my carb and get surge on tight right handers.
  11. I reckon its a good inch and half all round. Feels heaps firmer since now im using 4WD springs which are stiffer anyways Also big thanks to madmike for some excellent help and a bit of motivation. He is my KK
  12. Correct! Front was completely cunty to begin with but after i'd figured out the right side, the left took half as long. Part of the problem was the new struts being a bit longer than the old ones and part of the problem was using string instead of spring compressors. Rear torsion bar was a piece of cake to clock. Took 5 mins each side. Next i have to re-bleed the brakes and i can see how it drives. Already it seems MUCH firmer tho. Might even throw my whiteline bars in today too.
  13. Wait a minute. The steering wheels been glued to the wrong side. This confuses me
  14. Seemed to go well. Was a wee fire but was swiftly extinguished. Only casualty was a bit of leg hair. New seats courtesy of pick-a-part trip. Radiator done, new brake pads done courtesy of tardme and sway bar done. Also scored these mint guards from my weekend trip to pick-a-part. Will be saving these until it comes time to paint the car properly. For now - might as well keep the semi good ones on the car.
  15. I agree regarding the trim. Took it out for a blast on camera tonight. Went pretty well! Might have a fuel surge issue tho which im not entirely enthusiastic about.
  16. Chap on youtube likes to experiment with the briggs motors and made an opposed piston engine using only 2 briggs 3.5 side valves and a sheet of 5mm steel. It seemed to run pretty well too with ultra high compression. First old schooler to put one on a velodrome bike gets a banana
  17. Have spare radiator getting re-cored. Also, did engine braking and went barp-ba-pop-BANG BANG-pop-baaaaa Life complete.
  18. Bugger me its wally! Edit: Actually fuck it all. I might as well go and convince the local wrecker to let me fondle one for a bit.

Fellah i know/chat to online converted his Subaru EA81 (1800cc) to run on LPG then supercharged it. Apparently it went quite well and was decent on gas until he blew a hole in a piston trying to get some more power again...due to being inexperienced at tuning it. The next motor he put in was a EJ22 (2200cc) where the higher displacement made up for the lack of a blower. From what i heard, supercharging the 1800 was a piece of cake and made the same power as the 2200 despite being 20 years older and 8v pushrod compared to 16v dohc. So yeah, performance LPG sounds simple enough - just too many downsides for most people to do it.
  20. The hatch is back!! And theres activity happening! Im trying to get it ready for ClubSUB nats in the middle of April, which will be the proving ground for OS nats in May. Things to do before OS nats: * Slam it somehow * Build/Re-core radiator (not crucial but would be nice as current one is held together with stop leak) * New Brake pads * New seats (again, not crucial but the current drivers one is just not doing its job anymore) * Dyno run to check AFR's * New sway bar bushes up front and fit rear sway bar * Wheel alignment Things to do on top of that list before re-registration; * Fix rust * Make exhaust a legally acceptable volume * Squirt some paint at it * New passenger side door Things accomplished since last update: * Gearbox mount fabricated and fitted, should be strong enough and im 90% happy with it. Im rarely 100% happy so this is good. * Start/Ignition/Fan switches are all mounted and looking sexy * Whiteline 16mm rear sway bar acquired * Spare set of front struts acquired * Spare set of 4x140mm 13x5.5 mag wheels acquired Quite excited at how this is coming along. Will post up some new pics when i get around to it. For now you will have to make do with the thousand words that the picture is worth.
  21. Squirrel Performance have a good flow calculator on their page. Used it to size up turbos for my H6. You'll need to know how to read a compressor map tho
