  1. My mate in England built a singer chamois racecar, that thing was so much fun!
  2. I always carry it officer. Some people are all about the starvin children in Africa, me I can't stand to see those trees suffer.
  3. Will be bummed if it's true they the only ones who can find parts for my car. shitty recession.
  4. +1 for pitstop guys ass. if your pipes are too fat you lose power as the exhaust gases flow slower -> less scavenging. reducing diameter to optimum will increase power but not due to backpressure. don't know what optimum is for your motor but someone here probably will.
  5. yeah go back to saved game and buy a mig
  6. Bought the hubs/rotors/calipers I need for the vented fronts, $50 delivered. Nice. Hotrod guy at work has convinced me I need to supercharge it. Or did I convince him to supercharge his bucket? gonna keep it oldschool and run a suck through carb setup. Obviously that means no intercooler and mild boost but should go good. the m45s seem to be less common and more pricey on the ebay uk market since the minis swapped to turbs motors a year or two ago. There used to be heaps available with very low mileage. Might just go toyota sc12 route as there's heaps and they're cheap. Got my workshop - a shipping container. Getting it wired up and will build benches/shelves etc over the next couple of weeks.
  7. I had a mk2 astra in england that went up to an indicated 100mph. I bought it for 200 quid so i was pretty impressed with how well it did. never managed to kill that thing and sold it for 330.
  8. Gutted ... no subaru shizzle. rarespares will charge about 250 for windscreen seal, was hoping to get it cheaper + door seals
  9. I just bought my second '81 Subaru Brumby. The very last of the old round headlight subies, the first with the 1800 EA81 engine and dual range 4WD. The new one's on the left, I've had the right one for 3 or 4 years. I've done some upgrades to the old one over the years. I'll transfer these over to the new one after a bit of resto work. The new one's in better nick all round. current/soon to be done mods: weber carb massive 14" rally rims halogen headlights viscous slippery in the rear I have a pair of big valve heads I've done minor work on which I'll throw on. Major limit is that ports are siamese int+exhaust. other planned mods: upgrade solid disk/drum to vented disk/solid disk front/rear off turbo leone upgrade gearbox to AWD/4WD instead of current FWD/4WD still seriously considering: Eaton M45 supercharger from a mini. love to but probably won't: adjustable ride height. It rides and handles pretty well, but would obviously handle better on the road if it was lower. I love driving it offroad/gravel road though so don't want to sack it.
  10. I'm looking for a workshop somewhere in Welly city. It's gotta be reasonably secure and have power. Double garage would be ideal. Anyone know anything?
  11. The scrap place on college st is worth a try too
  12. I had the same thing on my bumby a couple of months ago on cylinder 4. Turned out it was the almost new spark plug, so don't assume yours is OK cos it's new. If it happened suddenly without lots of smoke or something, I'd look at spark first.
  13. Yeah the craptachi is shit. Mine hesitates on my ea81 it needs a rebuild but it's gonna get a weber when I get my workshop set up. I just replaced my coil with a mallory promaster off tardme which made it smoother throughout the rev range, especially off idle. It still has a hole when I stamp the throttle.
  14. The EA82 turbo is reliable if you don't let it overheat. Make sure the radiator, hoses and water pump are good and you'll be fine. They don't have a hell of a lot of grunt but they're fun to drive. The real bulletproof engine is the EA81, 81-85ish.
  15. GC at SAS sorted me out. Think they were for a similar vintage corolla.
  16. Only 60mm of shock travel, but it attaches halfway between the hub and the torsion bar so 120mm of wheel travel. I found 5 shocks from there that would fit durty, but they're american numbers and don't match the aussie built shocks available here. I got some from SAS in the hutt but the bottom mount is too small (12mm, needs to be 15) else they'd be perfect. Hopefully they'll have some others that will fit.
