  1. Thanks to kicker have found a steering wheel and have started to accumulate other bits and pieces from around the place. I like the look of this resprayed chocolate brown 330 and it looks like I now want some. Turbines... agree?
  2. Awesome I’ll pm you dude ..that wheel looks awesome. That 260c wagon I bought then sold Again in the same week; was offered twice as much as I paid so it was hard to knock back, plus I really wanted a 280c wagon with the extras; this wagon is actually quite a bit better condition than the silver one; but I’d love the black interior over beige .

  4. Hey man the silver 260c wagon isn't mine it's shea's over in Perth, he's definitely not parting that .. Fuck you need lights? That is going to be nearly impossible to find man, ill look for you but if they are around expect to pay mega; mega bucks for them.
  5. Ah yep I remember seeing that wagon in. Wellington before it went down to chch back in 2007 I followed the owner in my gx60 mark 11 wagon and spoke to him but he wasn’t selling at that stage and to be honest was a bit of a fuckin weirdo... what trim parts do you need? Shea just bought one as well

Yeah I originally tried to buy it in 2013 when the first owner died and the new owner had a health scare; but he wouldn’t sell it to me sight unseen, by the time I had called him again in the morning to arrange a flight down it had gone... saw it come back up again a year and a bit ago ... the seller had gone overseas and the advert disappeared; so posted it up on fb just last week asking if anyone knew where it was; browsing Gumtree and Lo and behold it was up again and 3k cheaper then last time; the seller was moving so needed it gone ... tadaa!
  7. Yeah I don’t know of anyone who has seen a 280c wagon; 260c’s are rare but these are extremely rare.. I wish I could find a pic of the interior .... it’s mint like proper mint.

So have finally secured this after searching for it for some years, in fact only last week I posted a pic of it on FB asking if anyone knew where this was as the seller had put it up for sale several years ago but then changed his mind. very rare 1978 Datsun 280c wagon; mostly one owner, deceased estate, 172,000km, next to zero rust; currently disassembled awaiting a repaint and panel which I’ve booked in. Car is in Victoria; I’m in Sydney... hoping to get it trucked up soon.. according to VIC roads only 6 of three 280c wagons were ever Registered in Victoria and these things are basically extinct.. Has the cool dual wipers, power steer and air con... I haven’t got any more pics of the interior but it is mint. Roll on the 70’s Datsun times am going to love this! Merry Xmas to me.

  14. Car was nice on the trip; the IJ will move it but I've had a 1jz NA crown before and a 2jz Crown.. Ideally this would have been lush as a 3.0 standard: am seriously considering dropping in a 2j.. There's one on TM with 35,000km apparently certified from a 1994 Soarer... $2500 is a lot for a non-VVTI probably even with the low kms... Anyway not wanting to rehash I have a post in the tech section...   15. New shocks; new radiator ready for a 1000km trip
  16. Was sick of the ocean-liner type handling so got some new shocks front and rear... Rides and handles so much better now, will get some lowered springs for it from yahoo Japan - only drops it 50mm but whatev's the factory springs are pretty soft and probably at 22 years of age have reached their end of usable life.. Prob get them out in when I'm back in NZ at Xmas. also put in a new top tank on the radiator- $220 a lot better then forking out $1000 from Toyota NZ or getting a new aftermarket from Japan yahoo that would take 4 weeks plus be around $700 landed.

So anyway bought a GS131 heater control unit to test, worked fine but the unit was from a different dash so swapped out the resistors in my blown unit and now my heater turns on/off plus the air con front back and the rear fridge is ice cold... Win... So finally got dash back together with a stereo and reversing camera (once you have a car with a camera it's hard to not have one) plus screwed the dash all back together.. First time since I've had it, also stuck on the rest of the woodgrain inserts..
  18. How much more power do the VVTI's put out in relation to the non-VVTI?

Nah there's nothing wrong with it; I've had n/a 1J Crowns before; they will get going if you push them but I've also had a 2j 155 Crown and that had loads of power; just would like the wagon to get along better and have the engine they shoulda thrown in from the factory. Probably get better mileage too.
  20. Will it be much harder to drop in a VVTI into a non VVTI wiring wise?
  21. Took my 1995 130 Crown wagon up to Auckland handles way better with new shocks; but the factory non-VVTI 2.5 n/a 1j is slow as shit... The wagons too heavy for it. I'm keen on the idea of throwing a 2jzge in there; the 3.0 will make the wagon get along a lot nicer and turn it into a nice cruiser. And Don't want to go down the 2jzgte track, So there's a low km non VVTI 2j n/a on TM for sale for $2500 from a JZZ31 94 soarer... Or 1500 without ancillaries... Questions I have is: 1) will the 1j ancillaries bolt onto the 2j? 2)will the 1j ECU run the 2j? 3) do I need a cert for the swap? anything else I need to consider in what appears to be a straightforward case swapping the sumps and dropping it in???
