  9. Yep cars do things like this.. you’ve made the right decision keep it and fix.. at least you will have a properly sorted car at the end of the day.. just keep it in the shed and acquire bits over time will make you feel better about it taking some time to get back on the road if you need to wait for funds… the seller sounds like a git so avoid anymore shit from him.. if the budget has blown out on it… simply means ya gotta keep it forever lol… also you’ll never get cads that you like out of your system and you’ll only end up buying another one later on anyway that will probably need the same amount of work. Go hard… old cars that aren’t super pricey bring us so much enjoyment… and also frustration but what can ya do.
  10. When I was about 7 so this would Have been 1987ish, the panel beater in the next building would store cars in the back of my dads Workshop. For about 2 years a silver SD1 Vanden Plas series 2 (that was badly stoved in the front ) turned up.. his neighbour would store all different cars from time to time so was fun for a kid into cars. I thought that Rover was the flashest car I’d ever seen (even with a smashed windscreen and the front clip and engine completely missing) and would play in it. It would have bad been only a year or so old and still had the new car smell. I remember the sunroof and the trip computer, also the dash that to me looked like an aircraft cockpit. I also remember one of the apprentice panel beaters came around one afternoon and swapped out the stereo in it with some shitty old radio lol. I think from memory they were waiting for parts from the UK to repair it, who knows what happened but it sat there for probably 2 years before disappearing. Then one day the panel beaters had another series 1 SD1 parked in dads workshop getting a panel resprayed, I remember sitting in the car and messing with the controls then the indicator stalk fell off and the horn went off and sparks flew out of the steering column lol… that’s when I knew all about English cars. recommend watching the SD1 Liver-run thats kinda fun. Have always liked these SD1’s but could never stomach the ensuing issues and build quality but they still are fine looking automobiles.
  11. More NOS badges all the way from Cairo ... yes that’s a NAP badge .. look it up hahaha.
  12. Well jeez long time no update, then again it’s been in storage for a very long time. Just a quick update on my phone until I get around to a proper update on a P.C. anyway it’s now finally registered and on the road. The electric window door cards finally got sent over from the U.K (2.5 years later!) so will get the windows hooked up soon. Oh yeah found out the air con still works and is cold. Bonus. Also found its original hubbies which are mint as to be expected with the condition of the rest of the, polished them up.. rad.
  13. Picking this up in a week, essentially 1 owner; under 100km; plastic taken off door cards a year ago; fitted sheepskins have never been off; rear carpet always covered deceased owner owned a Toyota dealership, which religiously services it every 6 months with full log books. YFactory Air; steer; 7 seater. It’s a honey. Down in Melbourne so a 20 hour road trip coming up. Tried to buy a year ago but grandson selling it was a mess to deal with. This time around his uncle much more reasonable. Too mint to stuff around with too much. prefer the other style grille that i have; but a nice summer cruiser.
  14. Have seen this done with a Jag; can’t find the pic now but still looked kinda weird. The other thing is due to parking constraints in my underground parking, it needs to be as short but practical as possible. Yep most look crap. Some not too bad. But I think it really comes down to how you finish off the front. I’m not having the side doors functional, just the side door windows and the factory electric side cargo window. Really it’s about not wasting a couple of awesome but fucked wagons, and also it will be mega handy. Also as the floor of the wagons are totally flat with the seats folded, it’s a pretty ideal model to this with. Most of the converts i’ve seen online have been pretty bloody ugly, as in wholly shit ugly. Some of the most successful ones i’ve seen are Mini’s and landrovers, and check out the awesome Civic trailer. still hoping I can get one good 230 wagon outta this too; but camper trailer first.
  15. also keen to hear from others who have gone down this road. Especially owner of this 30’ corolla and trailer.. like the idea of a door opening like this to create a platform and to use the back bench seat, just not sure how water proof it would be, or how much harder to make it seal properly. That doesn’t look to water proof to me.
  16. There are some crappy looking conversions kicking around.. B pillar cut with a maybe half a foot for moulding the front of the trailer and or door would look good and still give over 2metres internal floor space.
