so you have no spark at the points?, did you try a new coil or a second hand one?

yea true that... it has an alarm and immobiliser also but that appears to be working fine when its immobilised theres no power at the coil and when i press the beep beep button there is power there

alright ill grease the rubbing block and also recheck/set the gap tomorro night and yea i gave the points a rub with light grit wet and dry sandpaper before fitting them

ah cant remember now but i looked the points gap up on autodata when i replaced them and yes set at the top of the points cam its been running sweet for the last month.

my little hilux appears to have no spark out the plug leads about a month ago i replaced the coil,plugs,points,dizzy cap and rotor so these should still be fine yes?..
also i do have power to my coil and earth
im gonna replace the condenser and earth wire in the distributer tomorro as it looks a little ratty
any guidence on other things i should look for would be much appreciated!

i bought round ones for mine there out of a landrover its just a round rubber peice with a bolt out either side an i chopped the old rubber peice off the mount then drilled into that mount put a nut on the other side and that has worked for me no longer breaking engine mounts

well things have changed alot since my last post motor went good and i used it for my daily for a while then i revamped my suspension with new everything got a 2inch exhaust i got sick of the faded red so i primered it

so the spline on my auto escort driveshaft is right for the 5 spd but i take it its the wrong length or something? becuse it wasnt mentioned in that thread?

yea ffs the engine mount on the same side snapped again.........i think ill buy a couple of new ones this time.......
O/T: are you still using stock Escort mounts with the glued on rubber?

ah problem fixed tappet settings changed to 10/12 after seeking more advice..........she goes a fuckload better now no flooding type action or anything

yea i found out the stock settings which are 10-22 and i originally had them at 12-22 anyway got some advice from a guy whos rebuilt a couple of these and he said with my lumpy cam i should set them at 10-16 and this has made it run a fuck load better.......still i seem to have a bit of a problem with what feels like flooding if you take off and put yor foot down it stays at the same sorta speed for a while before it actually goes and also theres absolutely no way you can take off on a hill as it plops and farts away.........iv set the timing slightly advanced,and iv also tried 3 different carbs the standard sport twin throat and two 2L ones it actually goes a slight bit better with th 2L one on it.....................any ideas guys?

yay its all back in now sounds pretty agressive with the new cam in it all i needa do now is get some brake fluid and bleed the brakes(i replaced a couple of brake lines in the engine bay) and make up a couple of spacers for the electric fan as its hitting the rad

was my first time and now im hooked hopefully next year i will be in one of my own cars,but was still bloody sweet cruising in dougs blown mk2 zepher[helzfr] saturday night was aweome great atmosphere etc plenty of eye candy round too(including cars) spotted coon and was on my way out to give shit etc but got told to get back behind the rope with my drink by a cop suprised i didnt get asked for ID lol .........have got plenty of pics will put my favourites up at some stage
