  1. what sort of drive goes from the motor to the blade? part of me wishes it was a shaft drive but really what i am imagining is some sort of two way reduction box
  2. my cousin had a light purple mini - it was rusty so in conclusion dont paint it light purple dark metallic purple like my beetle on the other hand would be sweet
  3. I think logan is quickly becoming familiar with all things Lucas , left him some wet and dry and instructions to shine every electrical connection he can find also, i set this thing on fire several times today
  4. fwd bike use a rear wheel as the front wheel 6 speed hub kill yourself
  5. had a look power to the coil - check power into the distributor - check thats where things go awry, was getting power across the points, then none, then some (not while it was turning ) my suggestion was to strip the dissy apart and scrub the crap out of it, and replace the old cloth wires.
  6. you wont need a heater, just driving gloves and a sheepskin hat also, do you even have a heater core? if theres one in there i would guarantee it leaks
  7. Will come over monday with a multimeter and see where power is getting to. I have more than a feeling that every man and his apprentice, has had a go at the wiring, hence the non functional column switches, loose wires in the engine bay, and the rangi extensions i pointed out the other day Pretty sure i have a complete dizzy and leads from an a series here too Its a mini, has less wires than a toaster
  8. Get a battery and you can hold the plugs while i turn it over. Pretty sure that jump pack is no good for starting this with no battery
  9. I doff my hat to you This is the thing of dreams
  10. I think in order to pull this off you are going to need two things Bigger and More
  11. carb now has new gaskets, got it nice and hot with no leaks Numberplate tightened Dont think the cork i got is large enough for the tappet cover on a cold start, from a dry carb with a few cranks, i lose maybe 5ml, cant wait to see what the guy in the pit thinks when it drives over Took the door apart, think i need to take the window runner out to remove the bits i want. It can just wait for now i think
  12. had these kicking around, makes it look even slower. May adjust them to look angry Latest issues horrible noise coming from the fan belt. Fanbelt is new, found it to be a wee water leak dripping onto the pulley, tightened the hose clamp and gave the waterpump gland nut a quarter turn. Carb is still dribbling, needs a going over. Found a new one/fully rebuilt one in the UK for about $180nz. Considering taking the hit on that just to have a known good spare, although just about anything could be made to fit. Pancake airfilter is a terrible fit, i would like an oilbath filter to go back on. have a spare from my minor that would fit, but would like something a bit closer List of stuff to do Make new tappet cover cork gasket Make new carb gaskets Replace clutch oiler flex line - may as well do the inch of fuel line while im there. Have old grey and black flecked stuff to go in. Adjust or repair passengers door so it locks (i feel its a case of something not being put back the right way, probably upside down. There is broken glass in the bottom of the door, so it probably happened when that was replaced) Make a better drivers floor - The floor is wood, i think i can do a better job than what is there and use less pieces Find something to act as a catch can for the intake petrol overflow (manifold has a drain at the lowest point, prevents flooding caused by excess pressure i guess). From factory it has a copper line draining down next to the passenger side wheel. I would rather catch this, if only to see if any is being spat out Eliminate some rattles. The front numberplate is louder than the engine. Which is a pretty good rattle to care about as far as concerning rattles in old cars go Nothing major really, i should really pop the sump off and change the oil, would be nice to add an external oil filter - i am pretty sure there are some points on the engine where the lines would just bolt in //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=28405
  13. What is stance and how does a roof box relate to it? serious question btw
  14. make a new one, which you wouldnt notice unless you knew what you were looking for
  15. after watching and comparing that video with the one of my minor, you can really appreciate how slow this is Love it
  16. Pretty much right there, moving 3 cars around with parking for 1 is a bit of a drag
  17. all sorted Mini is currently sitting at my brothers and the reality of buying an old car is setting in more and more as i poke holes in it
  18. Running again radiator is water tight wasnt charging fan belt ended up growing too long, so picked up a Mitsubishi one which should do the job. Dulux Ivy green paint is no longer made, not keen on having to mix anything to match. So will try some Deep Brunswick green killrust, Its pretty spot on (although there are several greens on the truck, and some is showing the lighter green underneath, truck was 2 tone for a while) So will probably end up giving everything another coat and dealing to any areas which need some further love. Bodywork can stay how it is, the dents are far too valuable to take out. Picked up a huge tool box last night, Galvanised 1700 long x 400wide x 400deep. Its huge, would like it on the tray behind the cab, so may need to change where the spare wheel sits - im sure there is an original mount under the tray for it
  19. Everything is built with the idea that some poor sod is going to have to repair this on a hillside somewhere with some wire, a pocket knife and whatever happens to be growing nearby Several drain points on the radiator and engine so your block wont freeze overnight Crank start because of prince of darkness electrics radiator hoses are straight No oil filter - remove the sump and hose out the mesh Nothing not absolutely necessary for the vehicle to do its job, i dont even have a cigar lighter or interior light blow a fuse? no spare? just use the one good one left inbetween the two terminals added in over the years Passenger door catch is a door hook stops passengers from falling out quite well
  20. Wanting to get this mini from one side of hamilton to the other this weekend Brother will happily swap beer or whatever for a couple of hours use
