  1. Parts cleaning up pretty well. Will clear coat the suspension arms and steering links I think. Rest will get a coat of rust converter black
  2. Front and rear wheel options I'm aiming for. Have stripped down the chassis now and nearly finished cleaning up all the front suspension components. The fasteners all cleaned up well with a soak in vinegar and the bench grinder and some sanding/buffing brought up the front hairpins etc. I also picked up a go kart rear axle, steering wheel and rear hubs. Now to fab up a floor and nail down a motor.
  3. Just picked up this body and chassis and aiming to build a Junior Rod/totrod Starting Point: Size comparison to her first hot rod stroller: Thumbs of approval: The fleet: Repping The Strokers shirt over here in Perth while out cruising: She keeps on growing! Wagon still fits for now but won't be long: Will strip down this week and start planning out the build
  4. Making dreams happen bro! Love it and know you will build one sick car. Looking forward to coming over to hit up Beach Hop with you guys one day
  5. My life is spiralling out of control... So, ended up with 4 wagons, three sets of tyres and one set of rims so far. I have cleaned one wagon up and sold it for triple what I paid so that will contribute to the steel purchase. Will likely try and sell another wagon and one of the sets of tyres to contribute to another set of rims and hubs. Catching up with a mate who has a kart tyre bead breaker next weekend and chassis building will start the following weekend if all goes to plan. Still aiming to be ready for the Nostalgia Drags here in Perth this April
  6. Polished up the lips on the magnesium rims for a bit of bling
  7. Picked up the rims now and starting to plan out just how crazy I want to get with the chassis. Pinning over Ali drop beam frontends but we will see. Second wagon pan rocking up soon too just to double my work load She just wants me to hurry up and fix her wagon Plans for the seat
  8. Picked these up today Picking these up Monday And potentially a second wagon, will build up both and sell one to try and cover some of the cost of the builds. Started planning the chassis and seat, hoping to have one completed for the Nostalgia Drags here in Perth this April
  9. Picked up a Radio Flyer wagon as a new project. I still have my daughters hot rod but it has small and narrow wheels so car meets on grass are a no go. Still fits and I finally added the "lake pipes" Scored this on gumtree for a bargain and looking at some secondhand go kart wheel this Friday. Pulled it to bits Plan to copy this style chassis Hopefully end up with something like this
  10. Update your page homo! This thing better be ready for when I come over tick tock
  11. Looking very clean through the centre section! Going to be sweet when shes finished
  12. Looking awesome mate! keen to go for a burn when I come over in December! Pretty sure we need to do a road trip out to the Boxing Day races
  13. Well she is still cruising around in this most weekends at netball, at heaps of car shows and the odd trip to the shops. I still havent gotten around to sorting out a nicer push pole or a gear lever and the lake pipes are still sitting in the garage somewhere too! She loves cruising around in it and her typical driving style is one foot on the wheel, kicking back and people watching. Few things to note if you are going to make one. Be prepared to be stopped constantly to be asked "where did you buy that from?" or "so cute, can I take a photo?" Because it is so low to the ground my daughter sometimes gets bored and decides she wants to pick up random crap of the ground or drag her hands through the dirt. Watch out in crowds, retards wont notice it despite being bright pink and could end up tripping over it and sitting on your child. Castor wheels are not that flash on rough ground. She rattles like a bitch sometimes. Might try to rubber mount the front castor but most places we take it are nice and smooth. Women think it is the cutest thing ever and flock to it, Dad's usually look very jealous and grandparents ask if she is wearing her seat belt or has she got a drivers licence. Few shots out and about Greeting Dodgy Uncle Hayhole and Auntie Laura on his trip to Australia Spotted at car shows:
  14. First breakdown last night. Snapped the clutch cable and with a few too many hills and stop lights between me and home I decided a free tow was the better option. Probably best considering the starter has been a bit iffy lately and the alternator exciter wire still isnt connected so needs to be revved to 5krpm before it will start charging... Had been running sweet till then. Been to a few car meets/shows and still using as a daily. Will be back on the road shortly! Beached!
  15. Been super slack but the worsening mushy brake pedal means I will have to pull my finger out shortly and put some work in on tidying this up. Have given it a good detail and taken some photos though
  16. Cheers! Never been a fan of chrome but I much prefer the small chrome bumpers to the big ones on there now. If I was made of money I'd love a set of carbon ones
  17. Good to be back in an Oldschool car again://oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/47190-crispymk2s-1980-mk1-golf-16v/ Sad to see the bike go but might live longer given I was using it mainly for peak-hour work runs vs. crazy Perth drivers Did a bit of a search and didn't appear to be many MK1 Golfs floating about on the forums. Are there any good places for parts in NZ? Primarily chasing some side moulding and some interior trim bits. Really need a fresh carpet but might be a bit too spendy to send here?
  18. Discuss After crashing my motorbike I have pussied out and bought a car for running to work in. Anyway it is a 1980 Mk1 Golf, would have loved a 2 door but couldn't pass this up. Running a 16V 1.8L from a MK2 GTi and has had a recent bare metal respray in very dark gunmetal grey metallic Plans: New front tyres New carpets Tidy stereo wiring Replace tie rods Tidy/semi-wire tuck engine bay and I'd like to swap out the current VMaxx coilovers for something better and track down a set of genuine BBS rims Advert photos:
  19. Anyone have a set or even a single stock GB headlight bracket? Had a stack and that is the only thing I need to complete. Keen on a stock one but might have to go aftermarket if I can't find one. (Ps: my brother is NZ so he would collect and send to me in Perth)
  20. Fill to the brim with fuel, park in the sun. You will find it...
