  1. Well done on getting it back on the road - it's not any easy process to get there.
  2. Pretty newschool oldschool meet. You should have brought the falcon down @vivaspeed
  3. That's good. I really the Schlumof Obsession book about the mad collectors in Alsace so I'm partial to Bugatti project.
  4. Annual-ish update? I need to get this at least rolling to move it. Bought some new lower ball joints - I think the reason the old ones crapped out is that the come with no grease in them (facepalm) Managed to break a 1" chinese cast press plate using my 10 ton chinese press when trying to get the second one together. It was a bit out of alignment, so probably exceeded the point loading. Visited a friend to straighten up the press tool, then used his press to jam it together. Went in easily. Hope I can remember what goes where, it's been a few years
  5. Went for a drive on Christmas Day with the famdamily, then next time I drove it there was a funny noise. Stopped up the road and had a peek underneath Hmm Maybe the U-bolts weren't as tight as the could be? Anyway got it back into place without too much trouble, and made up an extra clamp for each side. Put them up this way to avoid the handbrake cables, I need to get some longer bolts I suppose.
  6. The phrase 'polishing a turd' comes to mind.
  7. Really, unless you are very attached to that particular car or have some skills in engine swapping, it would be better to look for one that already has one of the bigger engines.
  8. Something like a Datsun A15 engine/box would be easy (if they haven't all been used up in ministocks). Simple engines, 1500cc so better than the 1159 for sure, and probably wouldn't cost too much overall.
  9. Looking good in the pics, even with spray cans. The cost of materials for a proper repaint is so high today!
  10. No, that looks like some critical bolts being left out.
  11. My understanding is that it's related to the manufacturer GVM ratings, if it's rated as a heavy vehicle then it would be hard to get it reduced just by removing equipment. Heavy vehicle chassis ratings: modification thresholds to allow a heavy vehicle’s GVM to be altered (and its chassis rating to be changed) | Vehicle Inspection Portal (nzta.govt.nz) YMMV
  12. Thanks @kws for your updates on your projects - always well written and great pics.
  13. You could have just rolled up without unpacking.
  14. That sort of adaptor uses countersunk screws normally don't they? Most of the force on the gearbox would be torque/rotation so the mounting bolts will be loaded in shear so should be fine. How much power will you be transferring anyway
  15. Berry and Mexted Auto Electrical
  16. Obviously the correct answer is turbo barra. That would make a jag than runs.
  17. Who attaches the WOF sticker? More running around I suppose. I just bought an un-plated import. It had a WOF and when I arrived we ran it around to VTNZ and had the plates issued.
  18. No security features on those plates, so you should be good to go on.
