  1. Heath where did you get the time for me from? I still haven't seen any results (or times)
  2. I've done that before at Meremere (but it was 4th at full revs into 3rd rather than 5th). I'm glad you didn't blow your motor, it seemed like quite a carnage filled day out as it was.
  3. Real good overall. After watching some of those videos (of other cars) I'm surprised at how well planted my car is. I'm going a bit slower, but turn in and grip is really great, I just need to get used to the car and soften the front suspension a little bit to get a bit more mid-corner traction. What happened to your engine?
  4. 7 weeks is a pretty optimistic time frame for a conversion, especially if you don't have everything set to go already. So keen to see this thing get a decent repower. I do actually have a motor sitting in the garage that is not being used, and people often put them into Escorts in the UK.
  5. Have paid, and booked trailer. Only a couple of things left to do on the car then I can try start it, so looking good at this stage
  6. Speights is probably better for yarns than BF editfuckyyoutopofthepage
  7. If my car ever runs again 105, I'll hit you up and we'll go and do a trackday of some sorts. In the weekend was a driver training day, and from what I could see, for only $230 you got a day on the track with some schooling on how to no be a n00b (race driver training), along with a track outing with Paul Radisich sitting beside you - it may have cost more to get the man himself in the car, not certain on that. Pretty good bang for buck though, compared to a standard trackday. I've been working hard on my car and the list only has about 10 items left on it now. I think it's doable, so going to bust my a*** to get to Hampton. If nothing else pops up I should be there. So excited about getting back out on Hampton Downs! Done New seat bolted in. Harnesses relocated. Steering wheel extension and column in. P/S removed, steering rack modified and back in. ABS removed. 2 of 4 new brake lines run. Plates made for new pedal box. Pedal box in. Brake fluid reservoirs mounted. Bonnet pins mounted and cable removed. Windscreen wiper motor relocated and modified to single action. Brake bias adjuster mounted. 2/4 doors cut out and plastic windows added. Fireproof kit and new helmet purchased. To do Run remaining brake lines. Plumb, flush and bleed brakes. Replace CV joint. Replace radiator. Extend wiring/make spacers to relocate switches. Have custom clutch cable made. Retune/adjust base map to fix fueling issue. If I get time fix some issues like lack of brakes and replace an engine mount or 2.
  8. Thems fighting words. I actually had a look at my car tonight. More work to do than I remember. We'll see how it goes... lol
  9. Ummm..... Pretty sure you've already run through all this on the last page? Howe from summit landed for US$179
  10. Thanks to the organisers for the license night. It was a nice efficient way of doing something very simple, that many of us would probably never get around to if we didn't get a helping hand. I will be there lending a hand.
  11. Skip month or next day/week/weekend/karts?
  12. Cool, I should be able to make that. I have a training thing at work than runs to 7, but I should be able to get out to Vaile road by 7:30. Don't think I'll make Sainsbury Road, but still on track for the dual sprints.
  13. Just a nice simple adpator onto a custom of factory intake manifold, positioning the throttles like this (but runners as long as possible) With two separate air boxes, one on each side. And gigantic intakes feeding clean air from either side of the radiator, or under the headlight, into each air box. Preferably all carbon so it still sounds loud as crap. Look for pictures of the Nissan V8 Supercar engine for the intake pipes. Oh yeah.
  14. Yeah. Wasn't a fan of BF last time. Just too hard to seat everyone together, even with a small group. Gutted because it was pretty good. The Ale House meets were pretty good I thought. Maybe a good idea to head back there? Can always have a feed before hand if it's too expensive.
  15. Oh sweet, pay day! No karting this time? It's probably for the best, looking at my financial situation.
  16. I think bare carbon would probably look better than body colour bumpers. Sure carbon is a bit wank, but if its real carbon fibre and not a wrap I think an old car in a semi-race style like yours can pull it off. Best example I can find in a quick search. I like black bumpers.
  17. Local bike shop seems to have a good range of helmets around the $100 mark with euro rating. I guess this is good enough? Have looked in MSNZ sched A and it lists the rating. Will try renew my license when my club membership comes through (been a couple if weeks now)
  18. Sounds good, I've registered interest for this through Campbell. How long have you needed to sit an exam for the clubsport license? I got my license a few years back and didn't have to sit anything.
  19. People usually use R1 carbs. Just need to redrill jets and then fine tune. Would be about 1.6mm for a 4age. I'd budget about $400 for the carbs. http://www.boggbros.co.uk/gallery2.html
  20. What car is it going into? It's relatively easy to setup an EFI fuel system but you have to factor in a bit of extra cost for this side of things, and people always seem to have trouble down the track with fuel surge etc. Just take this into consideration as well.
  21. Yeah I did custom ones, but they did have the formed bit on the end for the tall twincam head. I can't remember where we got them from, but if you find a set from a car with coil packs sitting further away that fit in the head you could just shorten them to suit. Only problem is most modern cars run the coils bolted to the engine, so they are usually pretty short. I put the coils up on the heater cover, so the leads weren't much longer than factory anyway. Could probably have gotten away with factory, but they were tiny and crap.
  22. Oh dumb! I was excited about making the next event with it being the 14th, but I will be out of the country on the 7th. Oh well, at least that takes the pressure off a little bit. Will aim for Hamptons trackday on the 20th instead.
  23. Yeah, I probably worded it wrong. When you button off and the nose dips, it kind of bounces around a little bit like the front is fighting the back. It'd be much easier to explain in person. It could just be old shocks to be honest.
  24. Low is one thing, but while I was watching it on the skin pan it almost seemed to rock front to back, and didn't seem to respond very nicely to the small bumps it was hitting. Just something to work on over time, escorts are far from ideal to begin with suspension wise, and there are well documented ways of improving all aspects of it, so something you can look at when the basics are sorted.
  25. That is simply insane! Can you please do a cross section of that "join" or "tennis ball of weld" we like to call it. I can only imagine they didn't get decent heat into the weld so decided more is better? ps, good to meet you in the weekend. The car sounded pretty sweet out there. Looks like the suspension still needs a little bit of fine tuning, but it goes really well.
