  1. So damn good! well done on the resto
  2. Hmm thats a shame. ok how do i get across that it's 3rd sunday of jan, has been since the start. Same (usually) weekend of kumeu hot rod show. Posted thread here in november. Have a website stating future event dates jap-olds.nz . Have a facebook organising page here for the meets (follow it to get notifications). And yes the venue booking and a fb event page is often last minute but its gona be on the shore. what else should i be doing? Next new year event date 19th Jan 2025. Put that in your calendar
  3. Tomorrow! Theres a cafe at the end of the building for those wanting a coffee and bite. might be an icecream truck too if it's a hot day
  4. So good to have more of these in NZ. Congrats and hope the resto goes well for ya. Looking forward to updates
  5. https://www.facebook.com/events/737185678294319?active_tab=about facebook event page up.
  6. Venue confirmed for Massey University, Albany, Auckland. The tiered parking as per previous events. This sunday 21st, 11am - 2pm https://maps.app.goo.gl/PzeUPmrVLVhqRDRz5
  7. Great to see this continued. soo many nice parts acquired! Are you doing a twinpot front brake? Because not so sure that celica brake master is the right choice if you havent also upsized the caliper piston area larger than ae86? 86 has 13/16" master. ST2 Celica is 15/16 or 1"? May find the brake pedal too hard especially with the downsized booster.
  8. To get this rolling.. date is set, yet to lock in venue and facebook event. This annual car meet is held every 3rd Sunday of Jan in Auckland NZ. Next one is 2024 on: Sunday 21st January. 11am - 2pm. Venue: Massey Uni, University Ave, Albany, Auckland. Tiered parking area. Facebook Event https://www.facebook.com/events/737185678294319/ Google map Admission is free. Spectators welcome, please park separately if not bringing a nostalgic ride. The event is aimed loosely toward pre 90's Japanese and Euro vehicles. But this is not strict at all. Bring what you've got. Have a yarn, check out other rides. No booze, no skids, no loud stereos, no animals, no drones, no stupidity, keep it legal, keep it safe, that's all we ask. The usual spots to meet are 10.15am at Greenlane Mc'D's carpark or old Westgate shopping center outside starbucks (tenpin bowling) carpark. leaving 10.40am which is dictated on the day by the people in attendance. (Gather yourselves together and make the call). See you there! And please, use sunscreen ps, if you unintentionally lose a child, please post on the FB event page (to be added) or pm organisers via the facebook event page so we can arrange a search. There is a facebook page setup for organising these new year events, so if you have facebook, follow that and you should be notified of the events as they are made. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100087478003206 I also have a web page with past, present & future details on jap-olds.nz (no https or www preceeding it for some reason). or https://toycrazy.net/gallery/classicjap/classicjap.html if that just wont work. More details soon -Mark
  9. Yes correct. Sunday Jan 21st 2024. I'll make a post in the upper north island section once the venue details are locked in. Can also follow the fb page I've setup for announcements. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100087478003206 Theres another meet and cruise the day before at hootens so to save confusion I'll be looking to go elsewhere this time.
  10. *off topic. Cheers. That gen2 kp61-S has been stripped. Whats left of the shell is crumbling outside. Parts going into my 4dr kp60 bugeye.
  11. How'd you get on with the barrels? Found any Oz metal spinners? in nz we have Pine Engineering and the states has love20bee.
  12. Cheers RXFORD, came here to post this haha. I've been a slacker advertising it as usual, but the car guys know when it is, just need a venue set. All going well this storm will blow over and we have a minter of a day. I don't think we've ever had a wet one in the history of these meets! So yep, i've now created a FB new year events 'page', so if you have facebook, follow that and you should be notified of the events as they are made. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100087478003206 I also have the web page with past, present & future details on jap-olds.nz (no https or www preceeding it for some reason). or https://toycrazy.net/gallery/classicjap/classicjap.html if that just wont work. 13. Have postponed this and will put up a fb page for updates
  14. Whats this other meet and how long?
  15. This crept up on us.. hasnt been anyone showing interest on this one. ive just posted up on the new year '22 Facebook page to gauge interest. See how that goes today. https://m.facebook.com/events/252878233640663?view=permalink&id=300694275525725
  16. Re bolts. They be metric for a start. Easiest would be wind a similar size bolt in. If it screws in then assume its a match. Then measure the outside diameter with calipers to give the size (it'll be slightly under ie m8 measures 7.85mm or so) and measure the thread pitch with a pitch gauge or can use calipers. Measure 4 or 10 threads etc and divide by the amount of threads. Generally theyll be m5x.8 m6x1 m8x1.25 m10x1.5 m12x1.75 which are metric coarse. But there may be instances where fine pitch are used, so best to check. 8.8 grade is a minimum for new bolt strength. You tend to stretch lesser spec bolts. Re engine sump, its been a while and could be wrong but im thinking you have a corolla version sump fitted to new engine. They're longer north/south and sit on the crossmember when put in a kp. Check your orig kp sump for comparison?
  17. Chur. Trying em out with a brochure or 2. have found theres a heap more auctions found on the actual yahoo site than what buyee search finds. Any progress on the project? :p
  18. So you've bought off buyee.jp? rate it good?
  19. Just a heads up on this. Bit of a casual last minute meet instead of the usual hype. Sunday 16th Jan 2022. 11am - 2pm ish. Hooton Reserve carpark. to the left as you enter Mills Lane off 270 Oteha Valley Road, Albany, Nth Shore, Auckland. Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/events/252878233640663 Wont be as big as previous due to covid concerns and minimal advertising. Previous and future meet deets here jap-olds.nz Usual premeet spots at greenlane McD's or old westgate outside starbucks. leave around 10.40am.
  20. Been requested heaps. So here we go. 3rd April 2022. 11am - 2pm ish. Weekend before easter. Any conflict of interests?? Likely hooton reserve again or cornwall park. Haven't been there in yonks and has shade. Same kinda deal as the new year meets that i do.
  21. Bonus of 3ph is the 415v which means less amps and smaller power cable for same weld output. The two 3ph transformer welders i have actually only use 2 phases and no earth. A similar 300A single phase machine would need something like 80amp power feed. our place has 60a fuses.
  22. I got a mag base, a finger dti and plunger dti off aliexpress. The variable adjust mag base was actually pretty good. Plunger dti also good for the price but the finger one was a heap o crap. Notchy in travel and didnt always return to centre. prob ok for checking runout but i wouldnt use for precise measurement or zeroing job on cnc.
