fuel pump & filter at top right
-
someone tell me about running an external efi fuel pump, I could fit one with an inlet at maybe 25mm off the bottom of the fuel tank, which is a vertical shape rather than a flat shape i mean there are plenty around on offer, so whats wrong with using one if its mounted down low
-
a carb tank being a standard fuel tank which was used on a carbureted car and did not have a pump fitted inside it? you can run an intank pump, you just need access to it via a seal-able port of some kind. And it also needs to be in a place where it can be more or less guaranteed fuel all the way until the tank is empty including hooning the car around a race track etc which is why the guys are talking about fitting baffles
-
Im in a similar situation at the moment, I really want to run an in tank setup. all that lift pump surge tank etc stuff will fill my car with trash and extra wires what is a good in tank pump to run, maybe one I could also buy from aliexpress?

OK sweet, pressed pedals for the box Can you clip efi fuel lines with plastic clips or do they need to be metal? specifically I would be looking at this style http://www.nz.stauff.com/index.php?id=5926

its time to lower my car a bit more I think -
sweet cheers, seems funny that the guy would spend so much money on making old throttle bodies fit instead of new ones, it must have cost a few hundred at least to get the plate machined up I will clean up the transitions spencer, they are pretty ruthless at the moment. I'll buy a manifold setup and see what it looks like before making any final decisions haha
-
Ok I might do that chris regarding how it looks, im not sure, I've never seen a silvertop manifold. Seems like an easy way to get a full injection setup? I can always change it later silvertop is the smaller of the throttle bodies? it will still be sweet for 7000rpm on an 1800?
-
It is a CNC'd plate going from some type of 4age quad throttle bodies to a crossflow. What I want to know is whether it is for silver or blacktop and does it connect to the entire manifold with injectors etc on it or just the throttle bodies? The black plastic looking thing is a spacer that came with the plate

im looking at bias pedal boxes for my escort, is there anything I need to watch out for when buying one with regards to welds etc? having a balance bar is OK for a road car? will the car have to recerted?
-
daves rx7 also ran solid mounts, was no problems
-
When I rebuild my motor, I will also look at injecting it. I already have a manifold for blacktop throttle bodies and I would consider getting a steel crank pulley with teeth on it for timing, I think they are around $150. Only problem with that is that I dont like the trigger locations that people put them in currently as it looks too exposed which brings you back to using a dizzy as a trigger which I dont really like either. When the time comes ill look into it further anyway
-
I use that style pully as well
-
It will likely be from the thin sections between the ports getting too much heat in them and not being able to absorb it, and the material is quite thick so needs alot of heat input

Denham cant use the internet like a big boy so here is some pics from his latest work reyummms -
above I said that I have the 711m block, thats incorrect. I actually have the 681f block and the water pump I got was too short. Sorry to confuse you
-
yeah 711m is the shorter
-
repco etc should really list 2 types of water pump, but if you really cant find one then I guess I can swap with you, although mine is painted ford blue and has been used obviously but was new a few years ago
-
yeah exactly the same other than the offset
-
they are different length for 681f and 711m blocks, so maybe you got the wrong one, i had to space mine out as mine was too short and I have the 711m block
-
with oil in cylinder 1, it went from 130psi to 140 and cylinder 4 went from 115 to 135psi
-
nah not sure what compression should be heres the specs on my cam http://www.kentcams.com/product-details/92/Camshaft/Camshaft/BCF2-Fast-Road/ only problem with building up another motor is that I would struggle to find a block that could be taken out to 1800 like what I have now, but I could do that
-
even english people were concerned with those pressures, they expected at least 150psi maybe a good reason to machine cutouts in pistons and fit a bigger cam
-
Nah I havent ever rebuilt it, so its age is unknown. Pcv valve was removed and now it is just a 1/2" line from crank case to the oil catch can. It breathes quite heavily/visibly even at idle but does not build up much fluid
-
I might try putting some oil down the bores tomorrow and retest, as I have had the dipstick blow out a couple of times at track days so could be worn rings? thanks for the offer of bore camera, I have seen down the bores when I last took the head off and they were sweet
