  1. So when you chucking your phone in your pocket with a gps top speed app running so you can tell us how fast it actually is? Looking good. Glad you have finally arrived with a running product.
  2. Well yeah. Without a doubt it will be an E series diff. And most likely just a w55. Which is all good.! As for bolt in upgrades, there are few F series live axle options around, these are going to be from a Toyota crown. They are potentially wider tho and I would be very surprised if the arms lined up given the epic difference in chassis design. I have never had both side by side. Can also pull F series diffs from Toyota Estimas, some of which come in a brake disc'd 5 link option. So might be something to look into. How the fuck did I become such a Toyota Barry :/
  3. Yeah sorry I guess I wasn't quite clear in my post. What I meant was that its witchcraft trying to identify what gear box it is just by looking at the outside. Most people will claim that a W box with a steel center plate is a w58 but this isn't always true.
  4. If it's all alloy then it won't be a w50 as they are steel casing. So that's rad. As for what it might be out of the w55s etc its all witch craft in my opinion. As @Carsnz123 said, if you are lucky it might have the info on the firewall build plate. But if its nz new which It probably is then can be a little vague with details. This is what a correctly stamped build plate should look like. If looking at the plate, the second line from the bottom labeled trans/axle covers what transmission and diff are in the car. So yours will probably read w5* and E*** the * represent what ever numbers identify the ratios of both. In the picture above you can tell this car has an a340 auto and a G series diff which is same as a hilux. One random question. I assume you're gearbox shift pattern is conventional, doesn't have the reverse jammed up to the top left or anything? I only ask as some ozzy built ones that also made there way over here have borgwarner gearboxes and diffs.
  5. Awesome good to know you have used them in the past twizler. Puts my mind at ease. Might look at buying some stuffs. Talk about thread hijack lol
  6. There website makes me nervous. No real indication of who or where they are. ....
  7. Hmmm. I might also need to look at buying some of these as its seems a lot easier than fucking around making some lol.
  8. It will be. Actually surprised this has a w55 too as most rx60s I have seen have been w50. Good score there if so. Keen to see how this pans out as need to get onto the same swap on my rx30
  9. Actually you can fail if its throwing grease anywhere near the brakes. Granted you have mentioned you will clean up any grease etc but yeah. Would be better to be fixed than not come that time. Although in reference to your car and its drum brakes all round you will probably be ok.
  10. Re seats. Only requirements for head rests are post 2003 frontal impact. Otherwise they can be removed. By that standard I would say low back seats would be more than fine come cert time.
  11. Note on engine mounting. You may be aware but if not: The UZS130 1uz was mounted on a slight angle to clear the steering box compared to others. Hence the auto bell housings labeled U2. So you might get lucky with the engine mounts but depends on bell housing etc.
  12. Lol I just came in here to say im excited to see what you do with the paint. We all know its going to be rad.
  13. What tires did you end up with in the end russ?
  14. Awesome mate! Glad you have finally been motivated enough with everything else going on in your life to get round to this. Moist rad kk. Moist rad.
  15. But yeah I too have certed a few things. And had a fair bit of experience with other people's cars as well. I have never had a bad experience. You just need to be open minded that the person you are dealing with is the final piece of the puzzle you have been cobling together. Sometimes they might fail you on something that you don't understand or disagree with, and the key is to ask for clarification if you don't understand what the certifier actually wants, instead of guessing, going away, getting it wrong, and wasting everyone's time. Also keep in mind the certifier is wanting something that will have a warrant once the process is done. So try have it as much up to wof spec as you can. Not show up with your skid tires on and only one door handle because the other one broke and you haven't got round to fixing it etc. Clearly its impossible to give you much help off a description. But its most likely the small details that get you. Stuff like heat shields near brake lines where they are close to exhausts, bolts that have lock or nyloc nuts etc, battery or fuel lines secured every 300mm. Engine light that works or equivalent. Stuff like that. My final piece of advice is don't book it in unless you know you are ready and have a bit of back up cash to purchase things incase you overlooked something. Its not cheap and I have dealt with a few people in the past who thought they had there shit sorted, failed and then couldn't afford to pay to rectify the issues brought up at tge cert. However that was through a work shop. So if you are doing the work your self its always a bit easier on the pocket lol.
  16. If you happen to be going through the effort of replacing everything in the Dizzy, and mostly likely setting the timing, I would recommend completing the tune by re setting the tappets also. As they often get a bit tight over time. Keep up the good work.
  17. Awesome meet! So many people. Was rad to see you all!
  18. Holy fuck mate. Living the dream right there!
  19. Dont forget beer and pizza deal. You were on your way to be well steamed last time we went there lol.
  20. Worst case there is a skip bin at work slash more fodder for swap meet.
  21. I will hopefully remember those lowering blocks @Steelies
  22. Rad this tomorrow. Any ways keen to meet more peeps. Will also be good to see you @terry. Feels like its been a while.
