Deff do an electronic ignition if you can. Seems to make a bit better when starting etc. Other than that probably just giving it a good tune including setting tappets and should be ok lol. Its still an M after all.

If you are capable when you have the plugs out either unplug the injectors or remove the fuel pump fuse and crank it over for some time to clear out the cylinders.

Well to answer your question yes efi cars can flood. Plus I have deff seen demios flood. But they usually have fucked plugs.

Woah, so I still own this thing. As from above post, replacement carb fixed a bunch of issues, however its never been perfect/ But, did a lovely amount of Wagoneering in this over Summer. been slowly improving the setup, buying gear etc. Its been a bit of an adjustment to go from having a van back into a wagon. So really, I should probably get my VW sorted for the smaller excursions around Wellington. Anyway that aside, List of places its been since last update: Taranaki for New Years, Hunterville For Wag nats Chirstchurch for OS Nats Hanmer For Hanmer Also had it at parmy swap meet trying to sell some stuff, met a bunch of toyota crown piners in the process lol. But yeah, has been running like a champ but all the traveling was taking its toll and a few things needed addressing, So I spent a few weeks before Hanmer trip taking care of stuff, fixed a few coolant leaks, machined the front brakes ans fit new pads, this time with the anti rattle clips I got from @Bluebear01. Those made a world of difference actually. New wheel bearings and swapped out the tires as 3 out of 4 had massive bulges and drove very very oddly at slow speeds lol. However, Hanmer trip is developed a coolant leak from the steel pipe that runs from the back of the water pump to the heaters etc. A mild attampt at fixing with some steel epoxy but it did not last. I had a chuck a bottle of "1 shot" in it. I hope the heater is still good because I hate that stuff so much. Anyway we will see. Hopefully I have one of those pipes in stock. Might also be a good time to replace my exhaust manifold as it has a few cracks I have welded but the leaks have returned, Ok. No more rambling.

Lol I have actually been contemplating the same thing. Been midly sick of throwing dollars down the fuel filler, but in reality I don't think it would make much difference. Things to note: the ecu from a 5me doesn't control the ignition, that's all done at the module for the electronic ignition. So it really only does fuel, and a bunch of emissions stuff. Which does make it a slightly easier conversion. Could easy eliminate all the emissions shit and have a pretty basic setup. Manifolds fit straight on etc. Then its just a matter of powering the ecu, and fitting an inline fuel pump, assuming you car has a fuel return from the carb like mine did? But yeah. I don't actually know if the gains are worth the effort. One thing I have been contemplating is swapping to a 5mge setup from an mx73. At least that way there is more power to be had with twin cam life and probably more fuel efficiency also. And shitty old cressidas are still around with the right hunting. Really wish Toyota had made a deisel motor series close to ld28. Oh well.

Yeah as @Steelies said, I have a carb setup he built for a 4age that im looking at offloading. Thinking it might be easier modifying something that is already sorted, as has a sweet cammed spindle for the throttle and everything, combined vacuum lines etc. Has been run successfully on his starlet. Im looking at selling everything I bought with includes a fuel pump but also a 4age magic ignition box which you could sell on. Im at $500 because that's what I paid. Should be able to sell magic box for at least half that.

Oh man rad. I looked over those pics again and again when I was contemplating buying this car lol. Well done.
