  1. All the racing lawnmower forums are dead these days, I’m trying to determine if the crank, cam and lifters on briggs flathead 28 is interchangeable with the 28 ohv motor, all the info online is for flathead- maybe because of their class rules?

there is one comment I can find that suggests that it is, if this would be convenient as there is a billet flywheel, crank, cam, rod & piston available for the flathead motor and I have some ohv motors onhand. (The non avs early kind)

Trying to end up with a light weight air cooled 500cc vertical shaft motor that will do 5500-6000rpm for my amphibious boat thing, currently using a 200cc and it’s a little underpowered and it makes me nervous turning the pot metal flywheel so fast.

I guess the other way is to find out if the 28 flathead is common in nz, Shiloh?? I forgot your username to tag you!!

  2. curious to see what happens with petrol light vehicles when rucs come in on all vehicles as promised by nat-act - putting the equivalent of another 90 cents per litre on top the rest of the fleet is going to be pretty unpalatable, i cant see how the cost per 1000km would vary much between the types?

the headlines good for stirring the antiev pot but i guess thats what we have in store?

    boo

the big question is, there is a $23/1000km difference between ev and phev, liv does around 35k per year, which is $805

so what is the minimum amount of work you would accept to lvvta cert a leaf as a hybrid to get the cheaper rucs?

  4. has anyone been brave enough to buy a <$6k leaf specifically to put in stock for when the ev's enhanced battery becomes available?

i assume there will be a very short window where the economics of doing this are favourable but this would be a great combo to replace our runaround fleet with.
