  1. I really really like the sympathetic rebuild to preserve it's originality, I think it's a method more racecar restorers should consider instead of a concours level rebuild. I realise in a lot of cases this is difficult however, but there's something special about the battle worn aesthetic of an old racer. Look forward to following progress, it's a brilliant looking little car.
  2. Wouldn't @Mr Vapourbe the obvious option, being a stones throw from you? I can help also if need be just need some notice.
  3. Motor choice should definitely be Buick V6.
  4. Rear pillars changed? That's always the big giveaway on a clone. The proper M3 have a shallower angle on the C-pillar compared to the normal coupes.
  5. RHD and 4 stud? M3 in body kit only?
  6. Met some fellow watercooled Porsche owners on the weekend and we parked up together for a bit. 1989 Porsche 962 Brun-965-Edit by Richard Opie, on Flickr
  7. Bought some wheels from Japan, where everything great comes from. 1991 Porsche 944 S2-424 by Richard Opie, on Flickr 17x8 and 17x9 OZ Cronos, super '90s style and they're in magical condition. Have been spending lots of money on maintenance and fixing a few things that have broken. So far; - clutch master cylinder - clutch slave cylinder - new glovebox stays - new window switches - new fog light trims - new blinker lenses - K&N filter - new radiator and hoses - new badge seal thing - new hatch lock seal - new battery - regassed bonnet and hatch struts - currently in the midst of cambelt, water pump, all front seals, cam chain, balance shaft belts, idlers/rollers, thermostat, cam chain tensioner etc etc etc all that junk. TL;DR - this isn't finishing the KP.
  8. Yep I think Karl was running it in the 230 last I saw?
  9. Godamn I wanna have a hoon in this one time. Such a rad steed.
  10. You just want to be able to justify owning mid 90's Mitsubishi Mirages and associated diamond encrusted keyrings you sicko.
  11. Yeah date sucks, 20th would have suited much better as by then I'm free of deadlines and commitments but nevermind! Enjoy the lucky dip, it's always rad fun!
  12. "RS-DIESEL" stickers on the rear doors would be a laugh.
  13. Yeah, I've had a few offers from over there on my one... it's tempting sometimes.
  14. Handy to know! So to export, it's easier for the UK based party to register if the car is road legal here? It's a good option to have given the dollars they're worth there vs the peanuts here.
  15. I'm not gonna lie, I'm into these things. Look forward to following the progress!
  16. Did they get vaped by Brent the vapist?
  17. This is cool, so cool! Hope you have heaps of fun with it!
  18. So I was dressing all the exterior black trim with the great Kleers product, and anyway I noticed the front bumper undertray/lining thing at the bottom is missing the whole right hand corner. So I ordered an AIR front splitter to replace it all, it looks like the one on this car: It's being freight forwarded to me - so I should see it in 3 or 4 weeks I guess. Obviously the nostril things are a big no-no. Anyway. Other things I have been doing to get this car up to scratch: - replaced broken fog light trim pieces on RHS - replaced sill/pillar vent on LHS - replaced previous owner hokey-mod door lock pull (they have an LED in them that blinks when the factory immobiliser is active and obviously someone in the past didn't want to shell out for a new OEM one) - regassed boot and bonnet struts. Win. - today I pulled apart all of the leccy window switches, cleaned the contacts and repaired some dodgy solder joints. Now all of my window switches are functional and I can raise/lower the passenger window. Have stuff on order including new blinker lenses, air filter, oil filters, new OEM key head thing, clutch hydraulic parts as mine are iffy, fuck, heaps more stuff from Pelican Parts I have all but forgotten about. Have some wheels on the horizon already even though I said I wouldn't but hey look when life gives you lemons (wheels) you made lemonade (rad looking cars). The end.
  19. That's a looker! I already have an Alpine unit that I'll be stuffing in there though!
  20. This weekend, @Alistair bowled around and helped me with a lush polishing effort on the painted surfaces of the 944. Here's a few shots of the result, taken under some neat skies on Sunday evening. 1991 Porsche 944 S2-179-Edit by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-96-Edit by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-172-Edit by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-141-Edit by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-170-Edit by Richard Opie, on Flickr Some of the S2 differences: 1991 Porsche 944 S2-129 by Richard Opie, on Flickr Turbo nosecone, a big upgrade over the old 924-style front my 8v car had on it. 1991 Porsche 944 S2-92-Edit by Richard Opie, on Flickr "Bridge" spoiler in place of the squishy rubber ducktail thing, and the under spoiler/bum flap thing. 1991 Porsche 944 S2-47 by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-106 by Richard Opie, on Flickr 16x7 and 8" "Design 90" wheels and Brembo 4-pot clappers on 300mm rotors at either end. 1991 Porsche 944 S2-116 by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-119 by Richard Opie, on Flickr 3-litre 16 valve 4-banger engine. A shade under 220hp, lol redline of 6500rpm but sooooo torquey. Actually a very smooth thing to drive, with twin balance shafts and all that jazz. 1991 Porsche 944 S2-189-Edit by Richard Opie, on Flickr Delicious pop-up headlights, I can watch these go up and down all day. 1991 Porsche 944 S2-108 by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-68 by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-80 by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-82 by Richard Opie, on Flickr 1991 Porsche 944 S2-112-Edit by Richard Opie, on Flickr Interior things and stuff. Headunit will be switched out shortly for something not silver, and Bluetooth capable.
  21. It's chalk and cheese. This one actually manages to get out of it's own way! Probably not too many track plans in the near future, I need to get a few maintenance items up to spec and tidy up a few things, as is the way. BRB taking photos! You'd probably be disappointed? The ITR are much sharper, urgent feeling cars to drive, especially on the limit. The 944 however is a much more accomplished long distance car - quiet, comfortable, and handles and goes well enough ot have a bit of a giggle when it gets twisty. No more Work wheels here, I sold them to a guy with a 911... but next year I'll work towards getting myself some good wheels for it.
  22. I don't know a thing about jet boats but I do know this one looks super cool.
  23. Sold the Meisters when I sold the old car, all went into the home fund. This likely won't be modified, I'm just more interested in getting it mint and driving it. It's so good in stock form, does everything I could want it too.
