  1. I had a look around a 4wd manual Platz today. The rear chassis rails still seem to get in the way if it was slammed so not much difference to a standard Platz. The tunnel also seems to not be hugely larger height wise than standers but is wider for the exhaust to pass through. No matter what you would do itd need chopping up because if you ran it off the transfer case it probably wouldn’t last very long.
  2. I've been doing some research and I think the easiest way would be to make your own arm like the ae86 with the gr Yaris engine I shared. I also found rx7 fc knuckles might be an idea as they are front rack 4×114.3 and you could use a bolt on coilover as supposedly to a weld on one like the kp. The only downside fall is if you wanted to add an angle kit it wouldn't be as easy as say an ae86. would you be able to swap your steering arms left to right to make the pickup point closer to the rotor and report your findings?
  3. Man Thats so cool! Itd love to get my hands on one. The tunnel on them is quite big I wonder if you could fit a t50 in the standard tunnel?
  4. Cool! Shame is an auto one
  5. Might as well. I saw this idea for a front rack on an ae86
  6. @Dudley are you sure you can handle being associated with a Platz?
  7. Doing further research I think technically it would give positive Ackerman but the ball joint pickup would be on a weird angle because that arm isnt flat and Thatd be amplified when flipped so it’d probably end up on a 45 degree which probably wouldn’t be ideal. Do you have any ideas for McPherson with a front rack Thats capable of fitting 13s??
  8. I see what your saying but that would only be the case for swapping left to right knuckles but if you leave the knuckle on the same side it came off and bolt it on in the forward facing position it would have positive Ackerman. To be clear this isn’t swapping the spindles around as the arm used for steering is removable and can be rotated.
  9. It shouldn’t ruin Ackerman im not swapping the knuckle left to right im turning it 180 degrees because they are a 2 bolt system and then the ball joint should be on the outside of the knuckle
  10. Awesome im glad you share the same autism as me. It’s funny you say about getting sidetracked as this is me not working on my other cars I should be finishing😆. for the steering rack I hope to go with mx5 or similar and go front rack and then use something like kp front suspension and flip the steering arms around. Thats my plan so far.
  11. Yea the tunnel does need raising but not by much and I reckon I can do that without making it too noticeable
  12. I can’t be assed going through cert with it and it adds a bit of challenge which I quite like.
  13. Yea na im gearing it towards more of a drift car and putting an engine in the rear would mean lots of chopping which goes against my whole idea of being able to swap it back to fwd for a wof.
  14. Igor, yes they are available here in 4wd but very hard to find. If I do find one I’ll end up buying it.
  15. I wanted to keep the factory (1nzfe) motor in the car for simplicity, the fact that I just like them and yes fuel economy.. so I set about adapting a t40 transmission to fit. I went with the t40 transmission as mainly a mock up for a future t50. I wanted to use it as supposed to a j160 as it’s on the smaller side so I have to do minimal modification to my transmission tunnel and it will be more than capable for what I’m wanting to do with it. I started off using a t2 bel housing which was a lot cheaper than cutting up a 4age housing. The t2 one was a lot longer than what the 1nz clutch assembly was used to so the input shaft didnt reach therefore a simple adapter plate wouldn’t work. I then decided to use the fwd bell housing and adapt off that. I had to keep the end off the t2 bell housing still as it has bearing supports at the end of it. The clutch assembly is all still the same as the standard fwd setup and the input shaft from the t40 has the same spline count so it all worked quite well. I will attach a photo below of how I adapted it. thank you Dudley in this group for supplying me with the transmission.
