  1. Alright guys cam belt is off and I have set rotor to point to number one spark plug lead on the dizzy cap this is lining the 1E mark on the cam gear up with the dimple in the head at 12 o’clock and the 2e mark at 3 o’clock Cylinder one rockers are rocking on intake and only one exhaust valve not both one of cylinder 4 exhaust rockers rocking All three rocking on cylinder 3 and only intake on number 2
  2. yes All plugs are on the right way yes it was running beforehand but leaked oil like no tomorrow the rotor is pointing half way between 3 an 4 at tdc does the 10”btdc matter ? Because I didn’t do this and have just been aligning it to the marks and not 10” before top dead centre
  3. I don’t have one hoping to borrow one with in the next few days I read the specs for ignition timing is 10” btdc I have been setting the crank to align at tdc and not 10” btdc could this be my problem ?
  4. It does have a plug coming off the carb it is connected , i was trying to start it earlier while I had a buddy of mine adjust the dizzy back and forth it was backfiring badly and spitting smoke out the carb and even spat a flame out thec carb at one point but we got it to stop backfiring and smoking but wouldn’t start still
  5. Thanks for replying guys , yup is getting good sparks just put new plugs in i will have To double check about the solenoid but I don’t Think there is any plugs coming off the carb
  6. Could I be something to do with the dizzy vacuum ? It’s not hooked up
  7. I’ve tried doing that multiple times but the dizzy can only go in one way
  8. I thought that to as the rotor is sitting at number 3 on the dizzy cap at tdc , it sounds like it’s really waning to go it’s just not firing up... I’m really stumped at this point it’s been quite a hassle having no car the last few days how would I go about adjusting the dizzy 180 degrees ?
  9. Yup that is the case Still no luck
  10. Hi guys I know this thread is really old but I’m having trouble with my 1990 Toyota starlet 2e carb , Ive just installed a new crank seal and gave the engine a nice clean .and now I’m having trouble starting On the cam gear pulley there are 2 holes one with 2e and one wIth 1e ,and there are also two dimples on the head housing One at 12 o clock and one at about 10 o’clock I aligned the 2e mark with the 12 o’clock dimple and I aligned the crank to the rise in the crank housing #1 is at tdc on the marks and both exhaust and intake valves are closed on #1 , In this position the distributor rotor points to number 3 spark plug lead is this right ?
