  2. I got myself one of these Weldsmart 200A on one them $1 res listings on trademe for $525 and $14 shipping on the face of it it looks to be very good welder.Cant wait to try it out (no god dam 15a socket in the garage)
  3. Im looking at moving back to ChCh or surrounding area as the work culture in my current job has changed in the last few mouths.ive had a look on trademe and there is alot of recruitment agencies looking for workers and in the past ive used them with not much luck.So ill try here to see if i can get the heads up on any jobs that are coming up. Ive got 10 or so year experience with no trade cert but have my welding ticket (as/nzs2980).In the past ive worked in general engineering workshop, As production welder and for the last two year doing more heavy welding for mining sites.I add some pictures too Thanks for looking
  4. Work & Lady friend have been very taxing lately but had the day to myself and got engine out of the POS and into where I want it. Its fucken big and sure I can make it work, not much room in the cabin being 750mm at its narrowest and will have to find a new place for radiator oh the steering column?
  5. Thanks for the reply cletus I was thinking of buying the book but that pdf sounds way cheaper.
  6. hi guys im not sure if this is the right place to post this. I plan to build my own chassis for my wee Austin 7 and fitting vh41 v8 and auto box up front and rear sub frame from donor car in the rear.At work we have heaps of 75x40x3mm rhs that doesn't get used will this be ok? or will i need to go bigger like 75x50? My main question is that im thinking at putting the radiator where the back seat is .Would this be ok ? would it need a bulkhead between front seats and radiator? Thanks Wayne.
  7. Geez it's taken sometime finding a engine for the old girl. After spend hours on trademe looking for the ideal engine only to be disappointed at the cost of shipping. So I started on Facebook at complete cars and this Nissan Leppard came, hell of a ugly car though but it's a V8 and the same price as the V6 Commodores on offer.. Now I can start the chassis
  8. Some kinda mock up. I had a dig around the local junk man's yard today and found a few parts Austin 8 front end and diff 4 rims and a grill I think is a Morris 8. Oh anyone on the west coast got a Escort or a Datsun engine?
  9. What can I say really, it not like I needed other project. But after regretting selling the last Austin 7 I had I couldnt help myself from hitting the buy now on trademe. There is a lot more rust than I first thought but mostly in the floor and some around the front window frame and wheel arches
  10. The forks are a good fit and just have to change the bearing .but the swingarm is a tight fit and will have to make some new bushs
  11. I picked up this cb400 real cheap hoping to just resell and make a few $$$ but after looking at it and run a tape over it. I found that the forks and swing arm from the VTR250 very close fit to the CB400 .So i put the gt750 aside and got busy pulling both bikes apart. Sill not sold on the tank tho
  12. Hasnt been much on the gt750 front apart from frame strip down with work over the Xmas and new years. Tho did find time to buy other bike 1980 Cb400n ( yet again a bike with a square tank) i think the bike bug has hit me
  13. Yeah im happy with the price that shaftdirve is sweet tho has limited me to wheel choice (have been toying with the idea of making chain drive ).im not a great fan of the tank and looking for a tank with a lower profile and rounder like a KZ or some from the 70's trademe hasnt got any but ebay has lots to choose from.
  14. Got the old girl running last night had to pull the carbs off and give them a clean as all the old petrol had truned into this sticky shit. Tho i have somehow fu ked the starter motor .waterblast her in the next few days
