  1. One disadvantage of having the garage attached to the house is the fumes. Made up a cheap as extractor fan to help with it all. Back to the last bit of stripping.
  2. First part of the firewall is all cut out. im going to cut the bigger holes for the brake booster and steering column out using a local engineering shops water jet. im getting over this stripping back milarky. painter friend of mine said doing the underneath is the shittiest part of the whole car building process so looks like I have a few more hours to go to get it ready.
  3. Finished off stripping back the old seal and paint ready for epoxy and stone chip. I’m going to make up an old school polished stainless firewall like we used to run in the eighties so made up the template today. cant wait to get this sprayed and back on its suspension.
  4. Great news today. Had the compliance guy inspect the car from top to bottom. He was happy with everything and said go ahead and seal it up and paint it. He wants to see it all back together for the next check and then the last one is taking it for test drives and brake checks. So I was pretty stoked with that.
  5. All the old underseal is all scrapped off ( what a shitta of a job) Can start to get it back to bare metal.
  6. Finally got it up and turned over.
  7. I decided to make a wider base for my engine stands as my mate told me his one can feel a little unstable when you tip the car over. I don’t have a big workshop to play with just a tandem garage so don’t want to take any chances.
  8. Floor is all tied in. ready to flip and finish underneath.
  9. I’m also starting on a cheap rotisserie using a borrowed engine stand and a trademe $50 purchase. should make it easier to finish up welding underneath and the certifier can see everything in the raw then. this is a mates one
  10. Car is now in a few peices and the chassis rails are all fully welded through on the inside. Im going to weld the roll bar in at this stage to make it a bit easier and then finish up the rest of the floor.
  11. Interiors all finished also and starting to look like a proper car.
  12. Boots all finished off..run all the fuel lines from tank to pump and carb. battery lines also run from starter to kill switch and battery.
  13. Gas tanks all done ready to hook up.
  14. Hi Johnny..I fricken loved watching this thing also. used to rev to 8000 easy..would absolutely scream..bloody awesome. Simons coupe was the shit back in the day. really miss that cool hot rod class at the drags.
