  1. Just got sent this. the original pre rotor swap, 10a grille insertion deal. Haha
  2. haven’t been up to much lately. time was taken up with school holidays and trying to get work through the door. but I have cut back the guide coat, found a couple of lows. Nothing major though, so I’m pretty chuffed so far. working on the door skins now. needed a bit of motivation, so I slapped the headlights, surrounds and grille onto the front. the more I look at the guards the more I contemplate how I’m going to tackle it. I think I’ll get some spare guards and go about it slightly different. I also need to try and find another rx3 drivers side guard cos this one is munched at the bottom. but other than that, I only have 2 small repairs to do on the floors. I want to lift the deck off it so I can do the back of the cab, tidy the chassis, do the exhaust and then tackle the ugly deck work. would be nice to find a local panel beater who is keen on cashies anyway, here’s some Thursday motivation
  3. Won’t be in the hunter, cert system delays strikes again
  4. Road trip time for cert inspection. yup should be trailered. Nope, not going to sorry. this thing drives soooo good. not a rocket ship, but a nice reliable cruiser
  5. Thought I’d better do something with the ute besides stack shit on it. primered and guide coated the sections that are done with filler. only had 2 sections on the doors to finalise and the sills which are actually straight anyway. once piece on the cowl corner to do too. haven’t decided if im going to fit a factory aerial into the pillar or fill the hole… hmmm
  6. I thought it would be the same as a nait tag for cows. your given your tags, you use them as you need and just enter all info online and submit. Cow goes on its merry way. shut, with all the modern technology we have and the amount the end user pays, you’d think they’d get with the times more efficiently. must suck for you guys @cletus
  7. If a vehicle goes in for a cert and is all tickety booh on that day on inspection. how long is the process from there? I remember my first cert was around a 2 week wait between the inspection and plate being attached. is it still the same with the current system?
  8. Do remote brake servos (or any booster) generally have a non return valve on the vac hose?
  9. Ordered and received a new brake light switch. Fitted and fixed. winning. that’s all electrodigitals working again. only brake imbalance and steering box leak to sort out.
  10. Oh true, working from home? You on George?
  11. Got sick of waiting for someone to open a wof spot for this, so decided to gamble at VTNZ today. hell of a laugh watching these guys try and figure out how to use all of the technology of 1972 Britain. yup, had to show them how to operate the wipers, lights and horn apart from the cert stuff which is obvious, it failed on the following: rr indicator no blinky blinky - already fixed brake lights no shiney when stompy- brake pressure switch died (possibly blocked). Lr brake imbalance, may still have a bit of air in the system, plus the fluid looks shit as again. steering box doing British things and leaking. Yup good luck on that one cuz, might just drain the oil for recheck haha the lady behind the desk scared the bijeebers out of me and said the plates had expired. I was like WTF KAREN!!!! turns out she got the last digit wrong. so whoever had GF6958, your car must be farked
  12. Took the hunter out to Waiuku mufflers today to get the system lifted as high as possible. on the way out there it removed a few catseyes. I’ve noticed our roads have stupid crowns at the moment that raise around 50mm. So the flange and one resonator were getting a hiding. plus it’s garked up my driveway and doorway in the workshop. much friendlier to drive now without throwing sparks
  13. A guy in Paeroa got hold of me. Gotta get this bloody wof fail sorted before it goes down.
  14. Not much to update really. still battling the wof and cert process. it’s seriously so fucked the hunter however is driving so damn well.

I don’t rate hiluxs whatsoever, after trying to keep a fleet of them on the road. a fleet of K11s are more reliable. im sure that if you change manifolds, exhaust, tune the fuelling etc they can be ok, but it’s like pulling the pin of a grenade and hoping it doesn’t go off. these modern diesels are some kind of wizardry , everything under the bonnet is confusing

Yup that’s the standard 1kz cracking I mentioned. They pretty much all have it to some extent. Must have pretty crap cooling design or heat transfer through the exhaust side

Absolutely. I had a wlt that was healthy as, but when it supposedly got a coolant flush from the dealer, they just topped it up with a non matching coolant. It made mud in the radiator, and hey presto, huge gash between 3 and 4. they didn’t like the bill haha

1kz and cracks go together as well west Auckland and crack. most heads will have some form of cracking in them
  19. Quoted that j1403 at a few different places, this is what they said is the hose. she’s some thick walled shiz
  20. Thanks mate. I’ll quote that and hope I don’t get asked for a rego
  21. Oh god , into the rabbit hole of updates and nonsense we go, see ya nek week
