  1. Not necessary but you can spray it with a high temp paint I dont normallybother with it myself, itll outlast my ownership
  2. Did you figure this one out? my adaptors that are supplied are a 2 piece like that. the guy said to put a couple of tack welds at each end. i guess it’s no different than having a washer as a spacer like the palmside m16 caliper kits have that I run.
  3. Picked up the new tailgate skin today damn near perfect fit, just need to trim it to size and fizz it in. also dropped my axles and discs off to get the axle boss machined down to accept the disc. Then that can go back together.
  4. Oh and big thanks to @brocky41 for the calipers and handbrake set up. what a star
  5. Rear disc swap almost complete. sourced a set of caliper adaptors to run the Primera calipers, and uses a s2 rx7 rear disc. this fits the red rolled axles perfectly and gains all kinds of clearance to run the 13”s. only have to machine down the axle centres to accept the rx7 disc. Bonus is the rx7 allows the hotwires to fit really well. just need to sort the front discs out to get vented discs on it. not much point trying to go bigger, just more efficient
  6. Little shit actually did a thing today. only had to tighten up a brake hose on the front caliper.
  7. Ready for wof??? Hmm will see tomorrow. booked in at the local workshop. all lights are working no rust brakes bled and it stops, eventually lol top of the roof sits lower than the top of the well side of the ute. She’s a mission to climb out of now that I’m getting older haha
  8. Double cab looks awesome, looks like repu rear arches too
  9. I’ve never seen one of those, would be cool to see what it looks like on a ute
  10. Not a chance yet haha. think you can get them through hyperdrive.
  11. Not quite that bold. could be keen to run lake pipes though, imagine a rowdy J port blowing the eardrums out
  12. That’s the same brown. im down like downtown brown. will look good slammed on 13” hotwires
  13. Tonka style!! I have 4l of chocolate brown, but was going to paint RX3UTE that colour. also considering doing this one in the brown and hit RX3UTE with it’s original lemon yellow again. or considered a baby blue on this one. I do like factory style colours, just so clean and simple
  14. Ordered a loom kit so I can rewire the new ute. 40 year old looms are a disaster and not fun to work with. so my 20 circuit loom arrived yesterday. massive spaghetti nightmare. Now I need to figure out all the connection for the switches etc, great. in other news, I spent a couple of hours plugging a few holes that weren’t finished off in the engine bay. Then high filled it all and sanded it. not going for a glassy finish, just tidier than a pin cushion. im not sure what colour to paint this one would love to hear some solid options
  15. Currently looking into making a whole new loom for both ute’s. being 40 years old, the wiring is a mess. hoping I can figure out the pin outs on all of the factory switches. will get a universal loom kit. Just need to figure out how many circuits I need. probably a 14 for one and a 21 for the bagged ute as it has electric seats, pumps, and may end up with a couple of actuators
  16. Yeah I’m pretty keen to make it a clean simple build and cruise it. I’ll still bag the other one. wouldn’t mind swapping the 12at for a 13b bp for it. Not a slider at all, so can use a s1 box with it. ( I have 2 x s1 boxes and the s2 turbo box). RX3UTE can stay the weekend show pony with the rowdy J
  17. Pulled the motor and box out of the new ute. removed the crossmembers and fitted them to the other chassis to check driveshaft compatibility etc. required slight modification to get the mount angles a bit nicer and to drop the motor another 10mm. Took some pics of the bits I’m likely to chuck up on trademe: 12a turbo block - freshly built and unstarted ida manifold-new injection perfection throttle body Injection perfection turbo plenum 12at turbo manifold new 12at turbo ht18 microtech ecu mtx8 ar70 turbo something something whoosh whoosh
  18. Newest addition to the fleet is this b1600. the body has been full rust deleted and epoxied. rear tray floor has been deleted. body wise I only have the engine bay to smooth off. Have been considering deleting the inner tubs though which would make it slick as haha. he has had a new tailgate skin made up and there are 2 other tailgates with it interior: seat has been recovered, dash too recovered but is missing a corner piece to the forward trim. needs a roof lining and carpet, new door cards cos the ones with it are just nope. the hubs and axles have been received to 4x110 , I test fitted my 4x108 hotwires and freaking love it. engine: rebuilt 12a turbo block with turbo box has a factory turbo manifold (rare af). New turbski. Another AR70 turbo which is more suited to a 13b. Has exhaust manifold flanges and a half made turbo manifold. microtech ltx8 ecu set up and injection perfection minus injectors. Even has the turbo hat. bunch of parts etc that’ll just go in the bin tbh suspension: dead flat rear leaves cobra springs in the front, but Jesus what a lift!!! They’ll be deleted asap. this is the 78 shape so has the early round gauge dash, originally column slam. My favourite. oh and it has a gay Adrenaline R rotor shape muffler and a Gilmore drive kit. oh oh oh and a soles lock kit for max winning. so what’s the plans with this one???? well I’ll pull the 12at block out, drop in my 12a j. paint it and reassemble it, get it on the road. the other one , I will continue with the air ride and 4 link. Manx once the body is tidied I’ll finish the rx3 front. im thinking that I’ll sell the 12at, microtech , turbos etc. I prefer a raspy ear biting NA keg thoughts???
  19. Cheers Clint, im only going for a cruising ride height, no racing , no dragging it’s arse off or sick skids. but dropping it when parked. aslong as the bushes aren’t stressed and no binding I’d be happy ae
  20. This is the same chassis but Merica spec.
  21. thoughts on these numbers? I was looking at the ute this morning for about 10 mins. turns out that the shorter 4 link bars are a perfect length to utilise the factory leaf spring forward mount point with the diff mount set vertically(plumb). so I took some further measurements and allowed for some more low for ride height. used the longer arms for the uppers to get an idea of what could happen.. jotted down some numbers and bashed it into the calculator. Now im not sure if ive measured everything correctly or even entered them into the right place on the calculator. I do know that where I had originally measured for the forward upper points, it made the IC about 1200 in front of diff centre. So I just adjusted the forward height to get it out more to the front bumper area. Is that right? All the info I find online is for offroad use, so nowhere near where this will be.
  22. Decided to lift the body off the chassis today. so had to tack the 2nd guard together. got it mostly done, then started with the upper fillers, but called it there. pulled the guards and nosecone. lifted the body up. now I can figure out the front bag mounts. looks like the only way to go is to cut the entire upper spring cup away from the chassis. the upper A arm mounts to a bracket over the top of the rail, so doesn’t touch the spring cup at all. the lower A arm will have the spring seat removed and a cup and plate fizzed in. upper bag brackets will mount off the rails and be gusseted. should be all G
  23. Looking for recommendations for good Oldschool panel beaters from Auckland-Waikato to get this ute moving along. ideally I’d like to get it to primer stage ready to paint. would also prefer to drop off the cab and deck separately so I can continue with the chassis stuff. cash is king, I know what I’ve got.
  24. Finally got around to fitting the Subaru? Shifter boot. even biffed the naff looking tek screws that I used to temporarily hold the centre down. little bit of trimming and it clipped in nicely. Then I used some left over sticky felt stuff from the WRX to cover it. refitted it with wafer head screws. even got the gear knob to screw down a bit further to sit flush with the boot collar. looks too damn tidy
  25. And file down the 15a plug to fit the 10a socket. yes, speaking from experience
