So over lunch I sorted the alternator mounting. Didnt take too long as I have a stack of brackets in the parts bin.
Lucky I will be running the Davies Craig water pump as well as the stock one as the contact area of the stock pulley is marginal.
Measured it with my usual masking tape trick and already ordered the belt.
Might work on replacing the rear springs and installing the Lotus donuts tonight.

Getting closer. I had four new tyres fitted on the widened rally wheels but one has a valve stem leak so it went back today.
I have the carb throttle bracket done and also tidied up the farmshed engine mount. I did that by rounding off some of the edges, welding in gussets, and capping the ends. The cert man has inspected it already to sight the crush tubes inside it so is good to go.
On tonight's agenda is to get started on the alternator install. Switching to one wire so will have to fart about with the regulator box I suppose.

I had this exact missing bracket when I got a set of twin carbs for my EA71.
The one you've created looks a lot nicer than mine.
Do you have a pic of yours by any chance? I couldn't find any pics of it at all so I just raided the scrap bucket.

Thanks to @yoeddynz for the idea of yellow tartan. For those who don't know, Imps were made in Scotland.
Hard to see but the carpets also have yellow stitching.

Does anybody know much about transferring of farm rego?
Say somebody wanted to buy this. How would you transfer it to keep the farm rego?- 1

Interestingly only one petrol car in the top ten.
The only reason they don't panic and rise the price of petrol even more is due to my daily driven C20 taking up the slack for everybody else.

Now then. A fair bit happening but it's inching forward. The clutch with the mini slave has been installed and bled with a broom through the rear hatch to the pedal. It isn't adjusted though so when I wire up the starter I'll start it gear with the clutch in for movement. It has plenty of adjustment on the pushrod so I'll have a play.
I also found some radiators in the bulk parts I got so will look at twin radiators in the rear. One of them looks like a modified van one. I checked for leaks by filling it with coke and letting it sit for a few minutes and then swishing it about before emptying and flushing with rain water.
Also thanks to that rad cunt @Adoom who gave me some sheet metal so I could finish off the ducting to the front radiator. It's all done now. I have painted the front and when it dries I'll reinstall the painted fuel tank. Of which I let it think about what it has done with a chain taped up on the inside and left in a cement mixer for 20 minutes. Gave it a good scrub out with a brush sticky taped to a stick for a laugh too. Naturally it fell off so I had to fish it out through the fuel sender hole.

The plot thins!
Regardless of who is married to whom, I'm thinking about turning the Imp into a bit of a 70's inspired theme with some feathered stripes. I'm not sure I'll go all the way with gold metal flake paint. But am thinking of fat tires with white letters and orange stripes feathered at the rear.

Update. Not him. It turns out there are two sign writers in Lyall Bay. Who knew?

Does anybody know of anybody here that does vinyl wrap/stickers around Wellington by any chance? I have an idea.

Oooooooh. Where did you get that spoiler from?
No idea. I got it for the Scimitar but it doesn't fit the chin profile so was in the spares bin. Pretty sure I got it from Trademe.
I'm just trying to push more air through the radiator. That I'll look like the coolest kid on the block with a chin spoiler is an added bonus. I might copy that mesh below too.

So she is in but it isn't all sunshine and lollipops. I have the wrong water pump so have ordered the right single row pulley one. I can use this one on the EA81 hopefully.
I have taken the carbs off to rebuild properly. I have the old single carb still there but am in no rush.
Lots of little jobs to do now. I'll try and do one a day to keep things ticking over whilst I wait for parts.

Went to change the oil to get ready for test running and realised the oil filler neck doesnt fit with twin carbs. So snippy snippy it went. Couldnt be done in one angle so did it with two welds.
