  1. Good progress and some excellent ideas to steal welding the standoff onto the mount - I must do that .... my mounts sit further back on the engine so have picked up another couple of boltholes further back also but yours look very strong intakes are the painful part - looks like so much room til the heads and bonnet go on ... very interested to see what you come up with
  2. Looking good on the adaptor plate solution how much room have you got for intake ?
  3. Dump shops usually have a massive selection of 240- whatever voltage /ma adaptors
  4. Contacts in the motor gearbox that make it run til it hits park position when the switch is off - think brass tracks with bent or sprung loaded bits contacting you knew it
  5. Yep I don't see how an rcd makes 10 amp into 15 ... best wiring in old houses is to the stove ... good modern extension cord off the plug on that ( if it has one ) and replace fuse with a breaker some actual electrician will come in here and school us up soon ...
  6. I looked at a toolshed compressor with the "special" 15 amp plug on it and the guys showed me it running plugged into a normal 10amp socket lol if your house / shed wiring will handle it - have a look at the fuses and wiring that go to the plug you will be using - decent garage should have good wiring my 10 amp welded runs better in the carport than in the shed - one extension cord shorter makes a difference
  7. There are 12v electric car heaters on Ali for fuck all $ enough to warm the windscreen or the toes prob not both at once
  8. Think I paid 399 for mine not 529 but and 80 $ for a reg from tardme for big co2 bottles at that price it was easy and cheap to get started and learning mig after only using arc before - keen to try alloy with tig but to me it seems easier to have a machine setup for each rather than one that does all if you have the space for them
  9. I have the cigweld 135 mig - was very cheap from supercheap and they stock tips and other bits fits a larger wire roll than the small crap flux core roll it comes with seems to do what I need as I only have single phase power anyway and have only hit thermal cutout a few times while really blasting on 5mm plate if / when the torch liner dies I will probably just buy an aliex euro torch conversion for it
  10. Or if it has an adapter in front of that maybe the Rotang part was just the right length and easy to adapt between the 2 and has starter and clutch mount made easy ???
  11. Yes that's what I was thinking maybe earlier 12a/ 10a ??? clutch fork and starter hole looks similar to mine but I'm not an expert just thought bolt location and clutch slave location looked rotary

Old ones run off the back of the alternator modern prob run off the computer laurel is prob off alternator it will have a terminal marked tach if it does
  13. I scored some old digger hydraulic ram outer casing for mine was $5 for about a metre long section
  14. Ok how often do they have them around nelson ? One off or is there a few in a season or what ? Point me at the club site if there is one ?
  15. Ok I may have confused myself then just checked again both engines and on the kit listing for crapengineering kits and it is M12x1.25 no idea what my brain was doing before sorry
  16. Yup another interwebs myth busted ... 17lbs freedom units 7.7kgs KF so yes it's worth buying manual mx3s for the k8 flywheel
  17. What gives out first on a zephyr 6 = 2nd gear usually then # 5 rod usually falls out of bed at high revs I spent my teen years thrashing mkIII s so much fun times mates had one with triple Su it was insane to try and leave a gas station without peeling rubber - prob linkage issue not raw power lol mkIII Lowered a little debumpered and seams removed on widened steelies with factory hubcaps and trim rings look so good and quite aerodynamic barra turbo or ld28 turbo in one even better damn I want another one now
  18. Seems there are a few versions I have scales will weigh tomorrow apparently they have different tooth counts 112-114 if you can believe half the stuff you read on the interwebs - I read these motors blow if you turn them into rear wheel drive lol Kf is 17.4 to 13.6lbs k8 16.6 lbs then Kl 23ish
  19. No worries hey it appears there may be another engine mount hole at about 8 o clock in that pic - I think I missed missed that one out as it clashes with the rx7 starter mount bolt right beside it - no room for countersunk head
  20. M12x1.25 and I used 50mm long cut to fit for some from top clockwiseish top 3 bolts 4 th bolt at 3oclock could be any thread is it goes right thru the factory dowel and has nyloc the lowest 2 can be factory bolts thru from the front into adapter plate no countersink needed the bolt at ten o clockish is the one that lined up for me so factory bolt but seems to be odd one out at m12x1.25 here and a long one
  21. Got mine ordered in by local engineers - they were not cheap cos odd pitch - will check soon exactly what they were - I coulda saved money on the 2 bottom bolts by reusing the stock v6 bolts installed thru into adaptor from the engine side
