  1. That was a load of bollocks. Beaut day!! Reckon we wanna have bonfire? I got a permit
  2. I'll bring the campervan! We can all sit in there...! But I'm going to be late as I'm training until like 7.30 and then gotta get home and changed. So if someone could text me the whereabouts etc that would be Awesome
  3. Will defo have to do that. Will try and flush block before I get radiator done etc.
  4. Damn. I will be late to this one as I have dragon boat training.
  5. Sorry for slow reply. Been in the middle of nowhere with no signal! I have mastered the art of driving it without it overheating too much. I piss people off behind me but tbh it's their fault they are pussies for overtaking me haha. Appreciate the offer Al. I know you're really busy too so double appreciate it! I learnt a quite a lot working on this so far so you'll have to let me "help" out from time to time haha. I probably won't swap the cams unless I do an engine rebuild which will depend on how much I need to do that. If I also did that I would probably try and source a 12 port head as I've been told by a 202 guru that it increases torque as well as cooling capabilities. Engine flush as well as rodding the rad with a proper fan is next on the menu I think. As well as sorting all the time shit that doesn't work inside the van lol.
  6. Cheers mate. I was thinking how it will be a bitch to get a new rad to fit. I will limp it home and then take the radiator to a shop nearby in petone and get their input on fans etc. Is rodding /recore the same thing?
  7. Yep. I've been thinking that! Space is somewhat limited but I'm defo going to buy a new one and get a bigger rad in there! Also been doing the windows down heaters up to see it it helped a bit haha.
  8. Fellixx has told me about a radiator flush thing you can do with a dishwasher tablet. I might try it but it's being able to do it on the road and without pissing the other half off lol
  9. A lot of shit did come out when Fellixx reversed flushed but I'm suspecting the radiator too. I'd say it needs some sort of professional flushing service if that is a thing? Went into midas and asked them if they could do it and he was like yeah. Do it yoursen with a hose pipe.. Cheers mate haha Doesn't help that I have no idea what the radiator is from for a replacement..
  10. Beauty of waiting for the engine to cool down in the south island is that you're usually at the side of the road with views like this.. So it's not all too bad!
  11. Hey guys. Thought I'd just copy a text I just sent Al. Hey dude. Sorry been a busy day haha. This morning I changed the thermostat over and I actually replaced the radiator cap a few days ago cos it wasn't keeping 14psi. I also got the ignition timing checked and adjusted. Still overheating really bad lol. Have to pull over every 20k or so or hope for a big downhill that I can coast down hahaha. This is driving at like 60kph at 1.2k revs. Pretty bad haha. May be a long journey home Its very quick to overheat so yeah its like thermostat was closed or theirs an air lock but I've had the heaters fully open with the cap off on the radiator for a good 10 mins and watched it until all the air bubbles stopped popping. Any other suggestions. I do feel like I've done something wrong as it's way quicker to overheat than before (maybe?)
  12. I'm going to Nats mate. Don't you worry. Just wanted to spend money on this trip before signing up lol
  13. Moment of truth time. I look a twat in this but I don't care cos this is the result of 5 days of being "stranded" lol
  14. As it happens bart. That guy never got back to me! I ended up using a guy called Tom Baker. Really nice guy. Quite a strange situation. He had a cardiac arrest recently which meant he couldn't drive so when I rang him he wasn't too busy but he said he would help if I picked him and his tools up. 7 hours later we had the gears out and swapped over. Lol. Took us ages to get them out and hammer new ones in without fucking camshaft up! Then timing cover wouldn't get flush etc. Fucking pain in the arse!
  15. Let me know how you get on. If you're struggling I'll try and get my neighbors to let you in to my place. Can't promise anything though as they are away too!
  16. Will do mate! Our plans have changed as we've lost a fair bit of time so probably going to Queenstown. Where abouts are you as will try and make it on the way! Think I'm gonna have do a build thread on this van as I seem to be replacing everything on it. Replaced the water pump for the taps etc in the van and and now I have water pressure. Yay!! But now the boiler is leaking. Fml. I agree. Old school is awesome!!
  17. Well I went for a drive and dropped the tow strop back to Karl's. Gave it a good thrashing on the 100 roads. Temp didn't go above 180!! And it now easily revs to 4.5k just likw Graham said it would. So its probably been slightly out of time / missing a tooth all this time. Thanks to everyone that helped. You guys Fucken rock.
  18. Engine is running. Just putting radiator etc back on now. Then will go for a drive
  19. Yeah doing it in place. No way that camshaft is coming out without removing a lot of stuff lol. Removed the gear on the camshaft thanks to the South island crew (and three on three and richy!) The radiator was proper proper manky inside so Fellixx gave it a good wash out and they gave me some tips with a dishwasher tablet to give it a proper flush. (although places are open now so might get a proper flush done on it) Think I may have found a guy that can help me finish it off etc. Leanne is pretty depressed about the whole thing. I've told her that if its not sorted by the end of the day that we will just go home lol. She'll be right if we get back on the road though
  20. Only just got the old one off. The key was buggered. Luckily Pete came back with a welder and got it off. I'm on my way to pick up a metal gear now. Just need a mechanic to push it all in and get the timing right to finish it off!
