  1. I've got (counts on fingers) 5 BSAs (sort of, 3 are Dandys) and part of the attraction is that they don't make em any more. Like Datsuns.

Was excited to see they're making em again, but bit disappointed in result. Hard to get right though.

A new Goldie with modern reliability would be sweet...

  2. My old ute sat decomposing in the back yard, and the dodgy neighbour asked if he could work on it to pass the time. He was just out of jail and not working.

I said sure, then a month later he was back in jail and ute was missing. Never reported it cos was worth fuck all then (late 90s).

Wonder if it's too late to ask the coppers if it's still alive...

  3. Sweet.

I had an HQ ute, 202 traumatic, bull bars. Miss it...

Mate had a beige Belmont, think it was 173? Super budget, Kingswood was the flash model, the Belmont didn't have interior arm rests and the ciggy lighter was a circle of match lighting paper glued to the dash...  :)

If it's straight down SH1 it's a good way to get killed on 125's.

I have gn125d and an125d all up and down. It's not thaaaaaaat bad

We had planned a CT90 trip from Reinga to Bluff, then covid hit and scuppered plans. Bloke organising it does a lot of adventure ride planning, so was on alternative routes.

His CT got a bit melted in a garage fire (along with his P76) so prob not gonna happen now.

I've CTed 300 odd kms to the brass monkey no bother. Was quite comfy if a tad slow...

  5. Another tip, when searching try putting 'forum' in there too, as often some weirdo has linked to a manual in some obscure file sharing site.

80% chance the link doesn't work any more of course, but pretty satisfying when it does...

Worse case I could fall in love with it, buy several more, and become one of those evangelical recumbent bicycle Barrys while I'm embracing the weird...

  7. Just wanna say it's good to see the ongoing updates on your project thread. Good to see the issues, minor tweaks and improvements (and foibles) involved in owning an old car.
Nice to see it being used too... :thumbleft:

  8. Fuck yes, keep the 90, they're great little chuffers when you get them sorted. I'd clean things up, hone, piston and rings if necessary and use. I re-kitted the carb but never had it running right so put china carb on it that goes ok.
They need over 6V to fire and there's no drop-in electronic ignition available sadly, but I did the Brass monkey (~ 280kms one way) no bother on OG points, and have done a couple of trail rides where it went places other bikes wouldn't. I toyed with changing sprockets but factory ones work ok if you're not after something that will do 100kph (people chasing that end up with not enough torque to push it that high anyway).

if you're just using it off-road you could prob sell the aux tank and exhaust for quite a bit of dollarydoos, chuck a cheap pipe on it and profit.

Think I replaced rear shocks on mine with Ali specials, as OG too soft for my svelte frame...

this will ruin other bikes for you.

    CT90 the world...

Anyone ever attempted a helicoil in a bike gearbox in situ? Could be a swarf risk?

Yep. Did the ironhead, tipped it on it's side, tapped out to metric, drilled carefully, lots of grease on tap to trap swarf, swept out with bit of bent wire/rag and flushed with oil when back upright.

    Still going...
