  1. Quiet night on Monday so spent a couple of hours removing front shocks and sub frame. Ready for a fresh bush kit.
  2. New Hi-Tech Headers extractors arrived today. Hope to still make my own at some point but these should do the job in the meantime.
  3. Nice, any photos or build thread for this engine?
  4. Cheers man, Im really enjoying putting the development in. I ended up finding a set of rocker arms from an old mirage which have the same ID for the shaft but a different geometry which is going to suit my aggressive lobe design and reduced basecircle size even better, bit of a lucky find at pick a part so I will be running those.
  5. Bought a set of new bronze valve guides which I have turned down and Installed and honed ready for the head to be mocked up.
  6. Here is a quick update showing the new inlet port design (lots of bog!!) and the new combustion chamber shape (Ready to make around 12:1 compression after the head receives its skim).
  7. My bad, I don't even remember where i picked that up from but if its wrong its wrong. G63B is what i'm meaning then. I will have a dig around pick a part then, hopefully there is something useful.
  8. As of yet I am still unsure of the gains that will be achieved. Hopefully will have the engine done early next year and then will let you know my results so we can gauge whether or not it was worth it.
  9. Hello Old school. Is there anyone out there who has any spare rocker arms for the 4G63a Sohc 8 valve engine? My build is currently on hold as one of the rocker arms is dead beyond repair and I am struggling to find a spare anywhere? Any help will be much appreciated.
  10. Also had crank reground and new oversize main and rod bearings fitted. Block is basically all brand new now except better.
  11. Picked the block up today. Cylinders re-bored +0.5mm, Deck skimmed, pistons machined and everything balanced, cleaned up and assembled. Could not be happier with the Job completed by Glen at Glen Durie Engine re conditioners in Woolston.
  12. Quick update, nothing photo worthy though sorry. Have been busy porting the head, it is currently ready to be bogged up. Have sorted out new springs, titanium retainers, machined spring seats and have got most of the fuel delivery system assembled. Purchased new clutch which has been sent along with flywheel to the machinist for balancing. Should hopefully have most of the engine, except for intake runners, ready for mock up by the end of next week.
  13. Created a master and ground the camshaft on Saturday. Here is the finished result.
  14. Here is the finished result. Down from 9.8 kg to 6 kg.
  15. Sent Block, crank, pistons and rods to machine shop today to be Bored, ground and fitted together ready for the block to be decked. Spent the evening lightening the flywheel.
  16. Thanks for that information, I have been trying to find out what they were about. Glad I got them filled in now, this engine has no time for emissions control, even if it wasn't being used.
  17. The 256 degrees was at 1mm of valve lift, the total seat to seat duration would have been about 305 degrees. I have actually decided to de-tune the cams a bit more now, sow they will now be 252 @ 1mm or 292 degrees advertised and 13.5mm lift on the intake. And 245 @ 1mm or 285 degrees advertised and 12.5mm lift on the exhaust. Designed to give me my desired intake opening point as well as 9:1 dynamic compression with 108 degrees seperation. It will start life on stock suspension and wheels. Will probably clean up and widen the stock rims after I get it running then look at suspension, brakes, diff etc.
  18. Decided to weld up the combustion chambers, with help from the guys at Royce Clive engineering. Should make it a bit easier to get this bad boy up to 12:1 compression or maybe more. Will machine the welds back ASAP and CC the head to find out what gains have been made.
  19. A shot of the complete, welded cylinder head. Will hopefully get on to machining back the welds tonight.
  20. Picked up the cylinder head from Royce Clive Engineering this morning, Big ups to the guy there for the great job they have done. Here is a comparison of combustion chambers before and after. Have filled in the weird little channel in front of the spark plug and built up the wall as much as possible to help with quench as well as increase compression.
  21. Decided to polish up the inside of my block while waiting for parts. Promoting oil return to the sump never hurts.
  22. Have mostly been ordering parts and waiting for them to arrive recently. New pistons and valves on the way. Picked up new gasket set and rod and main bearings. sent cylinder head away to have combustion chamber welded up as current combustion chamber is in need of some loving.
  23. Here is a comparison of the stock intake valve lift vs the lift that will be made with the new cam I have designed. Hopefully start welding and grinding this cam soon. Tom's intake comparrison.bmp
  24. These bad boys just showed up all the way from Germany. In really good condition for the $$. So long to the terrible stock manifold.
  25. I have thrown pictures up on the build thread now //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49540-tomitz-1981-mitsubishi-sigma/?p=1565493
