  1. I think some PVA is water soluble but I have no idea what sort they've used when they built the track. The issue with using anything that vibrates or levers up the track is that it tends to snap the tiny tabs off that hold the track onto the sleeper and once the tab is gone it's stuffed. Only 9mm between the rails to give some idea of the size of the tabs. I'll try some steam/warm water if I get time this weekend.
  2. I'll give that a go, internet reckons solvent would work but I'm concerned it might melt the plastic track sleepers.
  3. Anyone got any tips for removing PVA glue from timber? I'm hoping that I can remove the tracks from my train set without stuffing them as someone has secured them with copious amounts of glue.
  4. Haven't touched the front of this one, just replaced the rear shocks with some spares I had. The mags on it were rubbing when I bought it, I think the fella that had it before me was a bit of a Barry so I'll give it a check over this weekend
  5. Doesn't sound particularly promising then. I'll have a look under it tomorrow, considering the shocks I replaced last week were OE the bushes may be the same.
  6. Hmm interesting. Hasn't had an alignment while I've had it but it's only with the BMW alloys which increase the track width by about 20mm a side so maybe something to do with that.
  7. @Shakotom do you have issues with the tyres rubbing on the floor behind the pedals on full R/H lock or is that just a VL thing?
  8. Planning on trying to get to Muscle Car Madness on Sat arvo. Won't be able to make the Skope Classic though as I've got family stuff to help out with.
  9. Anyone fancy heading out to Muscle Car Madness next weekend? I'm working the Saturday morning though unfortunately
  10. Bloody hell bro, do you ever take a brake from building cool stuff?
  11. Did a wee bit of work on this today. Still not 100% on what I'm doing with it but regardless of what I decide it needs to at least be rolling as it'll be pretty hard to sell if it's stuck in the garage! The whole reason I took the parts car when I bought the second VL was for the disc brake LSD rear end. Today I decided to make a start on getting it ready to go into the Royale. I removed the control arms, panhard rod and brake calipers as they were surplus/in need of a rebuild. Once I'd removed the seized calipers I noticed the axles were turning in different directions... I then popped the cover off to make sure the teeth weren't showing any damage or abnormal wear. Now I could be wrong but that looks to me like a 28 spline, four spider, open differential. There's no second ring of bolts on the crown wheel and upon closer inspection the ID tag is the same as the open VP diff I bought off dr.wylde. Bummer. After a bit of googling and becoming fairly certain that the diff isn't a limited slip unit I decided to remove the hubs so I can swap them onto the VL housing. I tried to use the old discs as a hori slide hammer and when that didn't work I bolted them up and gave them a belt with a hammer. It was at about this point that I decided to call it quits before anything else went wrong. I've already got new cylinders and shoes for the drums but I think discs are the logical thing to do for now and then cross my fingers and hope to find a limited slip diff down the track.
  12. There ya go https://trademe.co.nz/1498513355
  13. He's on the phone according to the receptionist so I shall pester him via email.
  14. I have a feeling that there's something different with the 20/25 injectors but I'll have to double check. The cdl catalogue looks promising though. No I haven't bothered with Nissan, figured it'd be too old for them to have anything available anymore.
  15. Does anyone know of anywhere that sells fuel injector seal sets? Haven't had any luck on google except for one place in Aussie. The seals I need are for the RB30ET injectors. Could possibly match them at DSL etc but would rather just purchase a set if possible. Edit: Already spoken to Appco/BNT who don't have listings.
  16. Pleased this has stayed in the OS family! Pined hard but sadly no money or space for it. Shagpile carpet and a disco ball plz
  17. Thanks man I appreciate that. I've only driven it briefly four months ago so I might get stoked again once it's running and not in a million pieces all over the place.
  18. Bought a set of wheels for this a couple of weeks ago, the absolute legend that is @Threeonthetree collected them for me and dropped them off at Mainfreight. They are 15x7" E34 alloys, they have centre caps as well but they don't fit over the nuts I have/are BMW caps anyway. I personally really like the look of these wheels on the car but my earlier suspicions were correct about these wheels. They certainly aren't going to fit under the stock guards with the wider LSD diff so they can stay on my daily for a while longer. I've considered staying with the open diff and doing a disc brake conversion as well as going to something like a Ford 9" which can be narrowed so that I can have the wheels I like as well as an LSD but in all honestly I don't think it's going to happen. My mental health/personal life isn't that great currently and for the last couple of months I've just felt like I'm pissing my money away on this thing, I have no interest in finishing or driving it anymore. Things may change but at this stage I'm just aiming to get it running and rolling again so that I can move it on.
  19. He's looking for a hunting truck so unfortunately VG's Hilux is missing a front diff and about 4" of tyre sidewall.
  20. The fuel filter and spark plugs seemed to have fixed the issue. I've driven it a couple of times since they were replaced and the clutch seems fine. The car will be up for sale shortly anyway as he's looking for a Hilux.
  21. Which program would you guys recommend for a total newbie to 3D modelling/printing? I am planning my N gauge railway layout and I feel that some HQ's, MK3 Zephyr's Falcon 500's etc would really set the scene but these don't seem to be available in N gauge (1:160/1:148). I am hoping that I will be able to model these cars and have some 3D printed? Any advice would be appreciated!
  22. Middy's car has failed a wof, one of the last things left to do is the wipers and washers. I've fixed the front but the pump for the rear reservoir has been sitting in water and is shagged. I don't really want to spend $93 on a new pump, can I just remove the rear wiper arm and washer nozzle?
  23. Yeah giving up on the car. It's really tidy and I know that I won't get another A8 but my heart just isn't in it. I'm too indecisive to finish anything and I'm sick of toing and froing over what to do with it.
  24. The remains of the parts car went to the scrap yard the other week. Don't think I'll part another car out again as it's really just been a pain in the bum although the sale of the motor and box has offset the purchase of my daily somewhat. Tonight I pulled a few more bits off the Royales motor. I had my suspicions that the motor hadn't had antifreeze in it for awhile and judging by the condition of these pipes I think that's the case. The pipes are pretty nasty but most of them will still be ok with the exception of the bypass tube in the idle control valve. I cleaned the inside of it with a .30 calibre rifle cleaning brush and it came apart. The big flake is paper thin, I think my best bet may be to cut the tube off and tap the housing for a brass fitting unless anyone has any other ideas? I still need to remove the exhaust manifold and turbocharger as I figure I may as well clean out the turbo coolant lines while I'm at it. I've got the inlet piping off the turbo so far, how much play is acceptable in a turbo? As much as I want to get everything done properly I've been agonizing over the wider LSD diff and the wheel choice before it goes for cert for awhile now and tbh I'm pretty keen to get this thing running and rolling again and throw in the towel.
