  1. Hey boes, looking at going halves on a car with my folks so that we can go to club runs etc/I can daily this bish while I finish my project car. This is the car in question: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/ford/auction-1211346703.htm Know my way around these things relatively well so can probably point you in the right direction as far as things to look for etc. Happy to reimburse you for your time however you like. Unfortunately the auction finishes soon so there isn't heaps of time but had to sell another car first. Any help would be much appreciated, feel free to pm me or text me on 0278283002. Thanks in advance, Sam
  2. It seems to run okay once it's warmed up with the high fuel pressure but it chews through the fuel even when I baby it. It's got VL turbo injectors and a VL turbo ecu but I don't really know all the ins and outs as I've never played around with a turbo engine before. Yeah I'm pretty iffy on the fuel reg, just have to save some coin once I'm working again and get it tuned properly. Any recommendations for tuners in or around Christchurch?
  3. Thats exactly what's worrying me. It's my only transport currently so just wanting to make sure I'm not going to blow it up if I lower the fuel pressure. Might leave it how it is until I can get a wideband
  4. Thank you good sir! Is it worth setting the pressure slightly higher than stock to avoid any chance of leaning it out or will it not make any difference? Can high fuel pressure cause any damage? Never really fiddled with efi before.
  5. Hey guys, I've just purchased a car running an rb30e+t. It has a rising rate fuel pressure regulator but while checking it over yesterday I noticed the adjuster nut and stud was just finger tight. Fuel pressure at idle is sitting at just under 70psi which seems way to high? Does anyone know what sort of pressure it should be running at idle, I haven't had a plus t before so not too sure how this may affect the fuel pressure. Wondering if I should drop the pressure or will that create other issues? Also I don't have a wideband at this stage but am assuming its running quite rich as it is very thirsty and smells quite fuely. Any help would be great. Cheers
  6. Hey boes, Threeonthetree very kindly offered to check the car out for me but he's unfortunately been swamped with work. Would anyone else possibly have a bit of time free to go and have a squizz on my behalf? Cheers, Sam
  7. PM'd. Haha the 'dose' seems to have only made it here from Aussie recently. Sounds cool but I bet the novelty wears off pretty fast when your turbo fails
  8. Hey fellas, would someone be willing to check out a car for me? I'm overseas for another couple of weeks and I'm worried that it will be gone before I get home otherwise. This is the vehicle in question: http://www.trademe.co.nz/1181119846 My main concern is rust, I've been wanting to build a VL turbo for quite awhile so not too concerned about the noisy gearbox. Hoping for something that I can drive as I upgrade it ideally. Obviously willing to pay for your time, buy you beersies etc. Thanks in advance, Sam Edit, it's in Auckland.
  9. What's the go with owning/driving a replica police car? Does it require a permit or something?
  10. Congrats on getting road legal, this thing is sweet!
  11. Not too sure on the future right now, waiting for my VL to sell so I can do some work on the front suspension. Slam and some nice wide wheels would be nice through. Just a baby 10 bolt diff in it but it seems ok, I suspect the ratio has been changed though as the speedo is quite a bit out. Haha yea the blindspots make merging a bit difficult sometimes. Did the wrap around rear window help like Chevrolet claimed?
  12. Picture dump. Not super way happy with this thing right now and the want for a hot rod is super strong so we shall see... //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/48915-chasinthemirages-1974-chevrolet-camaro/
  13. Few pictures of the engine bay and finished boot. Still a few things to tidy up but it looks far better. Finished product. (Apart from bonnet, honestly quite like it without it) And a boring one of the boot floor.
  14. Nothing too exciting to report really, been cleaning up some rust in Leila's boot. I wire wheeled the rust and paint off the floor before applying some rust converter. While waiting for the rust converter to dry I started stripping and masking the engine bay so I can give it a tidy up. Hopefully I can figure out how to upload more than three photos next time, should have some photos of the first lot of paint tomorrow. 15. Trying to upload another post on my thread but I can't seem to upload anymore than two photos because the image size is too large. What am I doing wrong here?
  16. Hey Oldschool! I'm Sam, I've been browsing the forums for awhile now and I've finally got around to starting a thread for my old boat. This is Leila, my '74 Camaro. She's running a small block 350, Hooker headers, Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley carby and Mallory electronic ignition. Idles like theres some sort of cam in there but I don't know for sure, the rest of the running gear is stock apart from the air shockies in the rear. I bought her off trademe 7/8 months ago, she'd been sitting in an old fellas shed as he didn't have the time to drive it. I drove Leila for a couple of months before the brakes packed up and she sat on my folks lawn for a couple of months while I mucked around with my VL and saved some cash for new brakes. Pictured is soon after I bought it home, since then I've changed the wheels as the Cheviots looked too much like modgies to me, and rebuilt all the brake system. She's now wof'd and reg'd and I've been putting a few miles on it. The mrs and I took it to Hanmer last weekend and its also a pretty sweet daily driver. Sure beats sitting in traffic my commodore! Plans for the next couple of months are replacing the suspension bushes, rebuilding the steering, widening or replacing the rear wheels and fabricating a new exhaust system. Please bear with me while I figure out how to create a discussion thread and figure the rest of this forum business out!
