Was dumped in a Forrest close to my house, I went and found it after someone posted a pic online, and got the owner to turn up- nothing more will happen. They've got away with it

You post up a big enough reward you’ll get them. Maybe not immediately but with time I’d be very surprised if you didn’t.

Wow man, well done! Nice that they kept it in the family with the 2nd gen V6. I was thinking it might have been a 3.8 Holden or something.

Thats an awesome deal! Not jealous at all haha

I think, by the looks the wheels are called Work Crags. Very cool wheel's and a decent width too.

Yeah I checked and they’re definitely crags. I’d forgotten about this crag design. I’d been looking for the 6 spoke style for my 4x4 Delica recently but found something a bit different in the end. Yours is gonna look really good. I’m actually a sucker for the retro brown interiors. The gold is nice too.

  3. Ok cool, thanks for your feedback. I’m viewing it properly tomorrow morning. I would think it would be less desirable than a diesel one when it comes to resale however if you wanted to Lexus V8 one this would be ideal. I’d rather keep it fairly original.

It's mint and too low kms. (Weird I know)

He wants a higher kms one with minor imperfections to use as his daily driver.

Something with a nice interior and decent but not mint body / paintwork that he won't cry about if it gets a trolley dent at the supermarket.

If it was museum mint with 23,000km's I'd understand but I'm sure its not showroom immaculate anyway and besides its in the right price range. Doesn't really make much sense. Also whats wrong with a few mods if its just a daily driver hack. Anyhoo all good

Reading the comments on these TM ads, NZ seems to have 50,000 rotary valuation experts who say all these cars are worth F-All .  Obviously their valuations were made free of charge...

Highly likely most of them will never own a rotary which is probably just as well.

So what is the real entry level price for a bog standard series 1 or 2 RX-7 LHD or RHD done say 150k?

Assume it needs paint, has no mods, is complied, WOF'd and regd?

I think with the left hook ones you need to look at what a good one goes for in the states and it’s really not that much at the moment which I feel is why when someone is asking say 30k for a car they landed here for say 12k or 15k it just isn’t realistic as you can just bring your own one in. I also feel that while a right hook is obviously worth more I don’t feel it’s worth say 4 time’s the price so if I can get a really nice left hook one landed for say 20 I think it’s difficult to justify 80 for the same condition car in right hook. It’s worth more for sure but maybe only say double not quadruple. Anyhow that’s my thoughts anyway.

  7. Haha yeah I saw that. They're not exactly that rare. Come up quite frequently on the japanese auctions and in this kind of condition. Anyway, don't think it will be selling in any great hurry especially when you can import your own for half the price.

Hey hey hey. Steady on with the rx2 bashing.

Your talking about the best of all the rx models there.

The only one to get a 5 link rear end, none of this crappy leaf spring shit here.

    The best body lines.

Owned by only the handsomest of men.

    :)

Haha definitely no bashing here. That green rx2 that’s been on Trademe since forever with the pan folded sills welded in isn’t worth 60k though which is why it just sits there and then there’s the gold one for  90K.... Bit optimistic I’m thinking.

  9. Probably best not to compare apples and oranges then but yeah you can get some pretty damn immaculate RX323's for 20k. To be fair its really only rx3 coupes or clones and genuine rx3 sedans that command super high prices. Everything else seems reasonably enough priced except for some of those RX2's asking for money they're unlikely to ever get.

See spotted thread, this was at a tender auction last week, quite a few looked at it and think it sold around 4k, thought someone might try a quick flip, certainly makes the tidy original condition merc front coupe from a couple of weeks back a real bargain!

The 929!? So is it a one owner car then or not? Not anymore by the sounds of it.

I think you're right that he was a flyboy, back in the days of Top Gun - that pink plaque stuck above the glovebox says "Caution - this aircraft must be operated...".
I wonder if he's now an ageing Barry (CDs, ballpoint pens, screwdriver and spanner, ancient sheepskin seat covers, spare landline phone cable around the shifter... he probably installed that Drive Computer when he bought the car). In that case, I wonder if he's ready to sell the car to me!

I've put a pic of this up before I think. I see him driving it round quite a bit. What do you think its worth? 4.5K? 6k?

i would hoard them if I had space, it wasn't too many years ago that FC's were the shitters of the rotary world, now everyone wants 20k plus!

itll be exactly the same with rx8s- a rear wheel drive genuine rx body shell is what every one will still be trying to find in years to come

yes and no I think but it also depends how well liked the car was in the beginning. Considering the age and rarity of RX5’s and 1st gen cosmos they just don’t fetch very big money at all. Even that NZ New rx4 coupe on TM recently was only 14k. The RX8 is a bit of an ugly duckling so I wouldn’t expect it to generate the same kind of following in the future as say an RX7 or RX3 might but you never know. Strictly my opinion tho’
