  1. Good luck with your first Zed mate , I owned a 260z for many years before getting married and downsizing to the Corona. I spent a lot of cash fixing rust and previous dodgy bog jobs from others. I can only echo what others have said - get it done right once. these old girls are super rust prone and it could end up being very serious. Apart from that they are mean cars , I stuck with an L26 with a little bit of work and it sounded cool and still went ok. Dropping an injected engine into an old car is more work than others will lead you to think. "drops in there" isn't quite it. Remember bigger engine = bigger brakes and handling upgrades. I got a lot of my bits of Ebay and from Motorsport Auto in the U S and A , many Z cars went to the US and they were the car that really sparked the import tuning explosion there. I ran tokico shocks with lowered springs and a full bush kit , helped the handling like night and day.
  2. Looks like I might be the only one left rocking the 6R by the looks
  3. That is one mint looking Zed man , I had my 260z for 8 years and replaced just about all of it in that time. Hard to find a tidy original one these days.
  4. The car looks fricken sweet man , that manifold is a work of art.
  5. Good stuff man , car looks awesome!
  6. I thought that after 8 years of owning a Datsun I knew about rust , the Rona has shown me that it hid a Jag level of rust under it's faded blue paint.
  7. Here are the cut out parts of the guards to show exactly how must rust was in there. The last one is the new guard made by my panel beater.
  8. Update on the Smurfmobile It spent a three month holiday at the panel beaters getting all the rust cut out of the guards and new metal welded in. It had a three page WOF sheet. Fixed the following to keep the man happy. Four new shocks serviced brakes Wiring fixed new lights
  9. Yea man that was my car , got the Rad re cored and cooling system flushed.
  10. Hi all , The Corona is matching numbers and still has it's original 6R engine. I have recently booked it in to start the rust work. fair bit in the front guards and bottoms of doors. We are doing it right by cutting out the rust and surrounding , then welding in new metal. I have purchased new Chrome mirrors from Ebay and some other parts. The only change I will make to the car is a set of period wheels - SSR Star Sharks or the like.
  11. One good thing about the car is that the mechanicals have always ben serviced and no expense spared. The 1700c Motor pulls hard and was previous used to tow the last owners boat. The main area of the car I will be improving is the exterior paint - many dings and dents and a few patches of rust starting to bubble through.
  12. Greetings All Here is a little about our newly acquired Corona. We purchased Her of Trademe through a Chap over Matamata way. NZ assembled in Christchurch. The car has all of Her original fittings and even a owners manual and full tool kit. Paris blue with smurfy matching blue interior. The main owner had the car for 36 years - the engine runs like a dream (only 113,00km) Discussion Thread
