  1. Installed some SW20 MR2 Seats over the New Year, Definitely a good easy seat upgrade from Pick a part, few stains to clean but happy with them so far. Also took the car to Gisborne for the New Year, friend of mine took a couple of pics while I was down.
  2. Installed oil pressure and volt gauges, wanted to keep the dash clean looking so made up a bracket piece to hold the gauges tidily and easily visible when driving.
  3. New badge for top of intake, soon hopefully have a strut brace in there too
  4. Has been a while since I've last been on here. Still haven't completed the front brake upgrade, time to get back into it shortly however I have been working on the suspension. Fronts I have removed the K-sport coilovers, purchased some second hand new Monroe GT Gas shocks which have been shortened and a lowering spring used, worked out quite well and is smooth yet firm at the same time, also sits approx 15mm lower than previously with the coilover. Have used the camber tops from the coilover with the new set up. Rears I managed to come across a pair of near new second hand Monroe GT Gas shocks to match the front and a pair of lowering springs to replace the spine compressing coilovers that were in the rear + one shock was buggered. Jacking the car up they only had approx 25mm of travel which would explain a wheel commonly lifting off the ground when entering and exiting driveways. Purchased some Genuine Toyota coil insulators for the springs and the appropriate washers, cushion/bush bits for the top of the rear shocks. Had wheel alignment done, rides so much nicer and smoother now and sits at a good height at the rear still
  5. Looking good dude, just come across your post tonight as haven't been on for a while. Other than the few issues that you've delt with it looks pretty good and few extra upgrades here and there, bigger brakes in one of the photos I see? You getting those new parts from a place called Tokyo Buy Go Go via yahoo with the website http://japanese-culture.ocnk.net/? Just recently ordered a couple of parts through them lately which only take 4 days to arrive from Japan, cheaper than trade price from Toyota here.
  6. Sorted out exhaust tip from the original not so nice looking tip, gave car first buff/polish. Travelled 1000km, seems to go alright, just got to sort out hanger bearing for drive shaft and clutch master cylinder due to a vibration and leak.
  7. Working on the front brakes, thought I'd make use of my original AE92 brake calipers from my red corolla and purchased some ae86 vented rotors. Just in the process of modifying the bracket to hold the caliper. Hopefully shal give a bit more stopping power over the oem solid rotor ae85 set up.
  8. Bit of a temporary bumper fix up, Plasti dip. Works quite well actually, front bumper was is crap condition with cracked and flaking paint, sanded out the flakey bits. Plasti dip worked a treat and tidied it up well filling in many of the cracks. Wasn't wanting to spend too much time and money on the bumper as I'm planning to turn it back into the Trueno it once was. Done the rear aswell, sprayed the tops white to give it a nice clean look.
  9. Manifold back in, and charging the battery to get it up and running, also hooking up the T-VIS as was never running when I got it, quite sluggish down low in the revs and not much torque.
  10. New Samco 3 ply silicon radiator and heater hoses finally turned up from Ireland, no where over this side of the world sold heater pipes to suit right hand drive AE86 and could only find left hand drive heater pipes which are different.
  11. While the intake was out, thought I'd do rust repairs from the brake fluid, used a bit of deoxidine which cleaned up the rust extremely well and treated the metal.
  12. New timing belt, seals, waterpump, tensioner idler bearing and thermostat,
  13. Water pipe all fixed up Intake manifold and other bits in the background clear coated
  14. Sweet cheers for that, will keep it in mind
  15. Just a clear coat otherwise the alloy will look not so good once it starts to oxidize in a bit of time
  16. All the rust and corrosion cleaned off, a bit of fixing to do on the water/coolant pipes
  17. Oh real, did they allow you to return or swap the waterpump? I'll be getting engine parts through my local Toyota dealership so hopefully they get it right, deal with them regularly through work and get parts at trade prices which is a bonus. Haven't though about getting bits from Japan. Won't worry about the trueno front till a little later on down the track or if I see any parts that pop up at good prices, then swap everything when I do the repaint next year.
  18. I thought while the intake manifold was off I might as well give that a bit of a clean up aswell, have taken off the majority of the casting rough edges and smoothed off the top area where the T-VIS badge was, plan to take it work tomorrow and give it a blast with some glass beads to bring it up looking fresh and clean
  19. Started on pulling out the water/coolant pipes this weekend, alot of rust inside the pipes and perished seals causing coolant to weep. Was pulling off the water outlet off the back of the head, 1st bolt was very hard to wind out but finally come out, 2nd bolt started winding out and then just snapped off, perfect place for something like that to happen....... ha right between the head and firewall so unable to get a drill in to drill it out. Fortunately there was about 4mm of the broken bolt sticking out, so welded another bolt on to wind it out as vise grips didn't work. Still very hard to wind it out even with the bold welded onto the broken one.
  20. 4AGE's everywhere, two 2nd gen Bigports and a Smallport in the rebuild process, sadly the shed isn't big enough to fit in my 4AGZE levin daily driver in for the photo, Second pic however shows them all plus my GT-Four Caldina
  21. Ha yea, and in the boot it changes from normal speaker wire to about 1m of chunky house wiring as the speaker wiring wasn't quite long enough. At this stage not a whole lot needs replacing, just replacing and cleaning up the water/coolant pipes and a few seals at the moment which have started leaking out a bit of coolant plus will be be doing timing belt/seals/waterpump etc as theres no record of when it was last changed and look rather old. Guess its from sitting around for 3 years everything has become bit brittle and perished. Also maybe keeping an eye out for a Trueno front end to turn it back into the Trueno it once was, Levin front is growing on me though
  22. Some lovely looking coolant leaks to deal with and replace some parts
