Yeah there really cool but hard to find the gold anodised ones.

    Use VHT anodised spray paint.

Paint over the chrome to get the anodised gold colour.

Did this years ago when i couldn't get the engine accessories i wanted in the colours i wanted.

  2. Currently lookin at a 4 post parking hoist or 2.

    Has anyone here got one?

Been looking at a few cheap ones online but was juat wondering if anyone has any 1st hand experience with them.

I dare say i will put it up and down a few times to test it works ok then load the project cars on raise it up and lock it then throw another underneath it and sit it there for next 5yrs or so til i get around to them. So it wont be getting used everyday etc to work on. I have my 2 post Molnar for that already. Just wanting to free up some floor space in the shed.

  3. Could make sense mgb?

I spoke to a guy about them who was in the business a few yrs ago (still has his finger in it a bit)

He said the "made in England" stamp and the Dunlop stamp would mean they're at the very least 20yrs old possibly 30?

What has him stumped  tho is the 5.5J as most 13" are only 4.5" wide...

But he has no clue about the X500 stamp.

There's no spines inside or were none either so the theory another mate had of them being drilled to bolt on has gone out the window...

I need to see about finding a digital pcd gauge as mine has big gaps in the measures and i took a guess at the size.

Or find a car they fit on lol. (Shit that probably mean buying another project so i can use the wheels...... lol)

  4. Going to try calling a place during the week (when they're actually open? Lol)

Apparently Dunlop wires are still available.

Most are knock ons tho. Bit it did mention spme were available in bolt on.

So 114.3mm is what? Escort/cortina pattern?

What cars had this PCD? I dont have have anything here they will fit so i cant check.

  5. Clearing out my shed so i can redo my mezzanine and found some old wire wheels.

But i can't work out what i got them from/for. Lol

Stamped in the back i found  the following info.

    - Made in England

    - 5.5Jx13x22

    - (Dunlop symbol?) X500

    - K8A

they're a 4 stud rim, not a spindal lock rim.

I couldn't work out what PCD they where, but approx 114/115mm ×4 ??

  6. There isnt a carby on the engine so hence looking around at what is available. So cant compare if jets etc would be interchangeable.

Yeah ive heard about alot of new carbies that require a strip and clean before use due to swarf. I guess quality control inspections wont catch everyone?

The main thing i was wondering is if they work well, once up and going. Such as no issues with transition from idle to WOT etc or if they flow the same as original or if even jetted the same etc. Ive even seen some carburetors where they have made the jets etc none changeable/removeable which is crap.

Elec choke isn't needed. I just used that link as an example.

Id actually prefer a manual choke set up.

Thamks for the offer Joe, but sadly the postage would be a killer, as im from Australia.

  7. Had a blackout so went for my generator but no go.

Pulled it apart looking for the issue next day and seems the ignition coil is kaput.

I dont have a book manual for it anymore and dr google hasn't helped with a part no. Etc.

Its an old Robin r650 4stroke (just a small unit but good for lights etc)

From what i can see its a subaru ey-08 engine.

Ebay etc just seem to show ign coils for ey-20 engines.

Anyone be able to point me out with a part number or a compatible unit to use etc?

    Cheers

  8. Hi I thought Id ask here as we don't have many Vauxhall's here in Australia.

Im trying to find some 13" factory style steel rims with the 101.6mm pcd.

Does anyone know what model Vauxhall may have had them? Victor, Cresta etc?

    Cheers.
