  1. It's one of the few things on the car that does not appear to be a hori job. The car is actually pretty mint from rear windows moving backwards. It's like someone did half the job right and then suffered an aneurysm when doing the body work for the front half of the car. When I bought it, it was cheap, I needed a car desperately. I deliberately overlooked the warning signs someone had done a shit job and threw a rod through the side of the block only a few weeks later. I'm assuming he cheaped out and filled the 4k with canola oil. Chur, she be right cuz. I replaced the 4k, but it's not amazing. Definitely a vast improvement over the previous one though.
  2. I forgot to mention there's sometimes a weird clunking noise from the transmission tunnel, and the typical clicking from underneath the tappet cover but you can just turn up the stereo like i do.
  3. Does anyone want to buy my 1979 KE35 for $4000? Probably seen it at a meet but i'll upload some photos. Can come with heaps of parts including a spare engine that dropped a rod (head and all other parts are fine). Paint work is average (somebody has sprayed white directly over the red original paint and it's peeling in a few limited spots), body has some dents. Wof and Reg till September. Engine is running a bit rich, dizzy out of line ill fix it this weekend. The spark plug hole on the number 2 cylinder needs the thread or something retapped it seems to vibrate loose after about 2 weeks of driving causing that little cup to fill with oil and plug to misfire and then you have to tighten it every week (takes like 2 minutes) or be prepared to stuff a rag in to soak up the oil. Interior is average torn seats under covers. Pretty much a driveable project, 4 speed 4k-u. Selling cause I bought a van and don't need 4 cars, or more, i can't store 4 cars. Drivers door does not lock, boot has trouble unlocking takes a bit of effort. Ignition coil needs a resistor installed, I can give you one out of the kp. Only rust i've seen is minor surface rust on the bonnet seems fine apart from that. Standard steelies without the cool hub caps. Horn stopped working a week ago. I'll sort out as many problems as I have time for but the KE26 absorbs most of my time. Extremely noisy, but haven't been green stickered yet. Standard ride height. That's every single problem i'm aware of. I'm clearly not very good at a salesman pitch. It has character to say the least. Seriously a coat of matte black and bog to fill in the minor dents, makita one way adjustables, flipped leaves, and some modgies and you'll be away laughing down the road with a billie in one hand and a durry in the other. Then if it breaks down you can always take it out on the shazza and the kids.
  4. My favourite part of the meet was getting left in a trail of skyline smoke near Brougham St
  5. Reminder that this meet is the day after the Machine Head concert so some of us may be very bruised and hangover. FUCK YEA MOSH PIT. If anyone in East Chch needs a ride hit me up im New Brighton ways.
  6. swear I saw one of yo u guys on the ground floor of the council today but was in a hurry for a traffic engineering job so couldn't say hi. Anyone else here work for the CCC
  7. Despite how awesome the film was I cringe to think of the amount of cool cars destroyed in the making of this film.
  8. I'll sneak off work and be at the Fox at 6pm
  9. This is gonna be cool. I'd personally redrill the axles to 4x114 of yours having a shit time finding rims. Kp hubs up front. Buy some nice old school weels. What are your plans suspension wise?
  10. A couple late nights in the garage and a lot of help from my cousin and we have mission success. Replaced the clutch while the engine was out cause why not. Had to custom make an annoying little clip to attach the throw bearing to the bearing carrier. Had no spark initially cause I must have bumped the dizzy. We chucked a screwdriver in the spark plug hole to find TDC and reset the rotor to the correct position. Also the new carb has one of those annoying anti dieselling solenoid i've currently hardwired it to the battery, which is not good ill switch it to ignition power later in the week. See some of ya at mad max. Cheers.
  11. Parked both of my ke at some stage to watch a movie there haven't had any problems. There's also a safety in numbers factor when you Park heaps of old cars together. Anyone keen for a beer downstairs first. I haven't been to a meet since last year (night shift)
  12. Pulled the blown 4k. Have a new one ready to go in. Next update when the car is running: Spot the difference: Close up of inside the hole, camera tilted sideways: So much oil in the bellhousing,,,
