  2. It’s back! By general demand, the now annual Hawkes Bay Moped NZ ride. In 2021 we're whacking it up a notch and exploring the bay over two days. Saturday's ride will comprise a scenic tour of Napier, Hastings, Havelock North and a bit of back country towards the ranges. Refreshment stops along the way and avoiding highways as much as possible keeping smaller capacity cycles in mind. This ride is a little over 100kms in length, beginning in Ahuriri and ending at the Westshore Hotel for fizzy sports lagers and firm handshakes. The route is subject to change based on potential road closures for Art Deco Weekend events. Link to Day 1's ride here https://goo.gl/maps/bv2cLnu8VymEU77E7 Sunday will involve a more spirited journey into the Kawekas, with a mixture of sealed and gravel roads. This ride will take us to the Mangatutu Hot Springs in the Kaweka Ranges. There are limited amenities on this route outside of the Puketapu township so it may pay to be self sufficient for snacks, fizzy sports lagers and gas if youre riding a big block. This ride is a 200km return jaunt, with fuel available in Hastings and Puketapu. Link to Day 2 ride here https://goo.gl/maps/8P3ELLHZtzmKfHJ17 Last year we had an awesome turn out of weirdos, and their equallty weird and terrible motorcycles. On top of motorised shenanigans there will be art deco related events and classic machinery to get amongst all weekend! How spoilt are we. Also if you're committed to the two dayer mission and struggling to find accomm i can facilitate you with some floor space/tent space at my abode. The boring stuff: The ride is aimed for small bikes less than 250cc. But we wont discriminate if you wanna hang out on your big boy bike. On both rides, but particularly day 2, there is a considerable amount of open road riding. Be courteous of other road users, keep left, if youre holding up traffic let people past and remember to hold your line. This will be a busy weekend in the bay so keep your eyes peeled for Aucklanders spilling lattes in their Q7's. Any questions send me a message! dont be a stranger come and get stuck in! 3. It would actually go really well in the enduro class for vmx. Probs won’t get the red plate as you’d be lining up with xr650s etc but would hold its own against the xr200s and pe175s. Just big carb, maybe aggressive cam like that torture test dude and it would probably go pretty hard ?
  4. Disc brake front even?? Probably goes harder than my xl250 lol /do berm buster on it this year plz
  5. That would be an epic mish over a weekend. Does Ohura still have prison backpackers ? PPSC have tried to get a ride through Forgotten Highway off the ground but its a bit of a drive to go for reccy to make sure google doesnt send us to Deliverence spec woolsheds in the middle of nowhere
  6. It's all DOC land so access is very limited. Boat access only to most places Whanganui River Road to Pipiriki would be lush, then a bit of gravel out to Raetihi. The Patea Dam (Lake Rotorangi) is also rad but bit of a dead end. Think the deepest you could penetrate (heh) the hinterland would be Old Whanga Road and the Bridge to Somewhere on the western side, accessed from Forgotten Highway. Again nothing links up to the other side and deffs no roads in place as its native forest/DOC land.
