  1. Anyone in Christchurch help me with where and how to vin a 1981/2 Suzuki bike that they sold new as a dual purpose bike? I understand about getting a JP declaration of ownership, and brake measurement etc but do i need some sort of confirmation they were sold? I found there is 1 other that has live rego
  2. Damn I am pissed off. My new clutch cable went tight after about 20kms so only used it to stop and take off then checked it at the lunch stop and was going to take it off but found that when I pulled the cable to get it out of the handle the inner protection pulled out the end, no more clutch so made the call to return to Farlie and go home at least I got to enjoy 1 part of the ride. Have Fun.
  3. Who is heading down today/night? I was thinking of cruising down sometime this afternoon maybe 2 or 3 and have dinner down there. I am just about to put the bike on the back of the camper
  4. No worries, hit me up, they have bedding for hire but since we're sleeping out I guess we don't need any.
  5. Meant to be damp Sunday night so I got a cabin that can sleep 4, Other 2 nights is under the stars. just throwing it out there
  6. if it aint broke dont touch it.... actually i bought a brand cable installed it and first pull the end crumbled, so back to the backup one and i am carrying a spare. I need to take it up to the cable guy and get a new end
  7. It was touch and go for me too but after a sequence of events and borrowing an RG coil it's alive again.... Now to assemble and take a link out of the chain and test the new gearing.... tomorrows another day I have the camper with a new CSC & COF. Just need to check the lights all work on my bike carrier. I might take it fishing next week to test it
  8. The perfect bike for a 700km bush bash drop the muffler off and you wont hear the whine
  9. I am fizzing about this ride, but I learnt my lesson with too much weight over the rear on the Porika Track so may buy a tank bag for this trip and use that + small backpack My RGV got dusted off yesterday and I took it for a ride to make sure it was running ok, I still need to do the fork seals that blew after the Porika Pounding and maybe use a heavier oil. Oh and gear the sucker down so 1st allows me to go slower in the muck and hills and I don't care if I lose 30-40km/h in top as the bigger tires already slow by 20-30 anyway. So what is everyone's sleeping options, I was thinking either pair with someone in a room or just outside tent?
  10. Put the spare into the uncut frame to size it up while I was re-arranging the bikes today. This will be a slow project as I have a few other things on the go as well, finally sorted the RG150 powervalve issues I think. I used the spare part engine to mock it up and the biggest issue is gearbox. I have a dual ratio TC125 box or a TF125 Ag box.
  11. My wish list project: I have dusted it and looking at it but may need more help on some of the finer setup The other option is a simpler one and that is to use a Kawasaki KRR150 to power it but not as weird. I have a pair of Volvo Penta Archimedes 450 (45hp) motors, (also think they were Chrysler 45hp), one was running in a small jet boat but was under powered so replaced apparently and they were free I was told they were 600cc but have absolutely no info other than back on the 70's they used to be the best setup for boat racing in the under 600cc class. I have a CTS200 Honda frame that had the motor removed and thought it might be a lol, I also have a TF125 gearbox and was thinking I could mount the Penta sideways and the prop shaft is on the same side as the TF ignition. Replace ignition flywheel with a chain cog on the TF and add one to the propshaft. Then I just need a radiator and maybe make the water inlet outlets a bit bigger. I don't care about the weight or the looks as it will be something ridiculous anyway. It has water cooled exhaust I have an old TS125 exhaust that was bodgied so can make it suit. I have both electric start or pull start for the engine too but may have to go with pull start as the starter sits underneath
  12. I have finally found one so grabbed it but won't be here for a few weeks. Next I will replace the rectifier and check the wiring, I better start my list of things to do before installing it.
  13. I will get this if nothing else will work - https://www.ecureplacement.com.au/ecu-product/suzuki-gsx550ef-32900-43400-bb1208-ecu-replacement/ But the reason it needed a new unit may need to be fixed unless it's already been done. I have read up the rectifier fails to regulate the voltage and sends 20v to the battery which boils the battery dry and some have been known to catch on fire, it overworks the alternator and then sends 2too much voltage to ignitor and lights(not working) similar to mopeds and small bikes when run without a battery to regulate the power. The fix was to use a Honda CB250N rectifier/regulator apparently
  14. Looks like it was replaced with the same unit
  15. I don't think it has stock unit as I think it is in my box of bits, i will take the cover off and check whats on it.
