  6. I may be able to pick it up next weekend if you cant sort something sooner
  7. This might be the motivation i need to get a wof. If i get one I'll be in attendance
  8. Cheers. Yeah I've thought about painting them gold but the silver/grey is in pretty good condition, just need a good clean. Think ill clean them up, get the curb rash then see how they look before i go changing the color. Anyone got any good deals on tyres? Was thinking 185/60s, same as the wide steelies.
  9. Not much of an update. I've panelled the inside of the van with some cheap ply which came out pretty sweet. I'm hoping to stain it next week. The motors been running like a bag of dicks. I've yet to really go over the essentials but instead have picked up a spare 1300 which I'm hoping will solve everything. Hmmm thoughts on the wheels? Picked these 13x7 Cheviots up last week. Have been thinking about changing wheels lately as I'm getting a bit of rub in the rear when the vans loaded up. I think they might look OK if it sits low enough.
  10. Where do people buy the bike carb rubber manifold inlets from? I'm on the look out for some but i may have better luck to just buy some tubing and cut to suit.
  11. Well done on the work. That's impressive stuff! Nice to see it getting down correctly.
  12. Why did I not see this before agreeing to go to feild days with the fil/Barry. Catch you all next month
  13. Once the necessary welds were cleaned, everything underneath from the firewall back was blown out, scrubbed, etched, tarred and painted. As always, all hollows were sprayed with 2pot epoxy stuff and then cavity wax. Have since put it back together and used it again. Come at me wof man. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/52065-bmxnz11s-81-escort-van/
  14. The wheel arch and surrounding area was pretty rotten where dirt and moisture had gotten between the layers. All 3 layers were cut out and replaced. I started with the middle section, the strengthening inner piece and then the outer wheel arch. Was a bit tricky to make as the original pieces were no good as templates. Once the structure had been put back into the van I did the outer quarter. I reused the bumper bracket area as this was fine, but remade the rest of the quarter with 4000 small folds in the folder.
  15. So the drivers rear quarter was no better, full of holes, dirt and speaker mesh. As i kept hitting areas with the wire wheel, it revealed the true damage of the thick layer of dirt. The entire lower rear panel had holes in both the outer and inner skins. I started on the rear, folding up a couple of long sections for the outer and inner skins. Following it along I rebuilt the inner rotten inner corner with 2 pieces.
  16. Haha cheers Beav. This is what happens when I procrastinate about getting an office job. Hopefully it'll be at the next monthly meet.
  17. After the drivers rear side I don't plan on cutting into it again. I've done the big big jobs, that's good enough for me. So much for a 'I'll only get it up to a warrantable standard' attitude.
  18. Last repair to do on the passenger side was the rear section, behind the wheels. The bog here was over 15mm thick in places. Fucken rough. As it goes with chasing rust, this ^^ soon turned into this. The outer and inner skins were rooted where the dirt and shit had been sitting for years. New inner skin was sused. Then the outer was made, including around the back behind the bumper. And before it was hit with the rattle can. Short story, the passenger floor annoyed me so I replace the entire lower half of the van. Tomorrow I'll put it back together and drive it for a week before I replace the drivers rear wheel arch section. When is enough, enough?
  19. New sill. I then had to tackle the top of the passengers guard. To keep the theme up is was rust covered over with bog. Cut all the shit out. Made up a new inner section before making up the outer skin. I tried to take my time shaping the metal to the correct specs. I was pretty stubborn about not wanting to put anymore bog into this, so I tried to make all the repairs as correct as I could.
