  1. Nice work man. Do you know the specs of the engine? Still contemplating side drafts or bike carbs?
  2. Countersunk the hole for the lock because its a simple push and turn lock with a key. This is how it sits when its locked in place. This way i can lock things in there and open it using the key, save adding a handle or strap Cleaned it all up and put it together. All this did take the better part of a month. Will clean up the hinge and put in countersunk screws The box that sits in it. Sits parallel to the sill so its not seen from the side or behind. All this is screwed into the van can be taken out in a couple of minutes for ease of changing bushes and leafs This was the original floor before i cut into it
  3. Always had the idea of utilizing the floor space under the rear of the van. I wanted to put a box in for tools etc but without chopping/relocating too many things underneath. Found a spot between the leaf springs and side side of the van. Plan was to make it subtle on top Cut a hole. Replaced some metal behind the wheel well Used angle line on the long end for strength and something to drill into for the lid. Made some folded edges for the box to sit onto Made the lid out of the original floor section and another floor section cut from the parts van. Strengthened up the lid with lengths of thick steel welded into the channels and more angle line around the edging.
  4. East side are all the well known/touristy beaches, haiha, cathedral, hot water etc etc. All within 30min? drive from coroglen campground. If you don't mind a slight walk there is new chums beach in the north east which is a bit more secluded then the rest (not allowed to develop housing there). Big ass rock you can climb to get amazing views/snaps. Best park up beach i can think of would be buffalo beach in whitianga. huge grassy area, can park right up to the sand. Close to the shops for a feed. Heaps of other low key beaches others will know. New Chums - can only do the walk at low tide View from big ass rock Buffalo My 2cents/spam
  5. Sweet build. extremely tidy and the detail makes it that much better. If i can get this kind of finish on my van ill be over the moon. What size tyres do you have on them hotties now? Assuming they were 205/60s beforehand
  6. Thats Sharp! Especially with the mk1 stripe, gives it the illusion it sits lower. A++
  7. It just didnt look correct so after alot of measuring i decided the passenger flare didnt match the drivers side and stuck out 5mm too much in the centre. Decision was made to cut the edge off and move it back. Wasnt too much hassle, just disheartening. Finished the rust work in the corners under the flare while i was there Took away the supports and sat it down on the reset leafs to see how low it sits. Bonners all round. 99% happy with it now, need to cut another small section of the flare out and move it back in. 2 steps forward, one step back it seems
  8. We used to have a few white vans back in the day and thats exactly the reason im not going white, everything shows up. Was thinking sign writing like this Look forward to seeing yours
  9. Cheers man, still a bit more work to tidy them up and match the drivers side before i prime. First/last time i shape flares Not 100% sure on the color, always changing my mind. Not even sure if i want it dark like Gun metal grey, or light like the orange thats on there now. Have to choose carefully because theres no windows to break it up. Have even contemplated oldschool stripes or signwriting, to help break up that area
  10. Have been doing alot of rust repairing and prepping for the flare. Tidied up the ends of the sill, the under skin, cut to suit, gave as much clearance underneath as possible An age was spent cutting and welding, and re cutting and re welding. Turning this shit... into this.. Makes it worthwhile but still not 100% happy with it
  11. yip cat light, had same thing on my daily
  12. Looks heaps better without the windows, fast progres
  13. Good to hear, hopefully it does what it says
  14. Cheers man, will have to let me know how the sound matting goes
  15. If panelling the windows is on the cards then thats the way to go. Nick's right, if the vans going to be stacked sky high with gear then the windows/vision are of no use. I recently removed my side windows and welded up the panels. Depends how you go about it but it can be a big job
  16. Practicality of the whole thing id go with tints. Merging lanes, pulling out of awkward exits etc are difficult when you cant see past your shoulder, especially if its going to be used daily
  17. Sweet, another van. Looks very straight. Worth there weight in gold for being able to put anything in and just go
  18. Have been replacing it with new metal this week. Then started on the skin under the flare. Cut back the old rusty stuff and tacked on a new strip. Will trim it later to suit
  19. Found some rot around the wheel arch on the passenger side
  20. Sweet van, quality work going into it. What size tyres do you have on the rims at the moment?
  21. Cheers for that. Couldn't remember about the drums. Vans came out with some goodies on them
  22. Sanded and primed the passenger side panel inside and out. Pretty happy with the result. May leave the inside as is for that authentic rapey panel van spec Will start mocking up the flare on the passenger side. The inside blue is the original colour, i like the idea of original colours but i think that blue is going to be too much to look at
  23. Popped out the passenger windows, expected some rust behind the rubber but not that much. Cut the surround out, tacked in the new panel then fully welded in. Alot of hours spent cutting the panel, sizing it up and re positioning the panel til i was happy with it Sand, prime and start work on the passenger flare
  24. Skim of filler and 2k primer Just been cleaning up the little bits on the drivers side. lining up the door and guard. Took the guard off to do rust repairs earlier, will be bolting this back on instead of welding. Soon to start work on the passenger side with the flare and replacing the side windows
  25. No worries, its actually pretty straight forward if you have the panel. I had another rusty van without windows i scraped but i kept both sides of the body with the panels intact. Pretty sure someone removed the windows and made the panels to fit but if your serious/desperate i can have a good look at them and see how well they were made?
