  1. Jeepers. Lots of pixies running about on circuit boards is pretty scary, that's why I have oldschool cars! I'm all about the plug and play!
  2. @michaelme Fraid not - Not running, and if it was, driving two cars is really hard. However if someone has a trailer we could bring it in and work on it, and get every second Barry's expert opinion as to why it's not running? @Threeonthetree 's suggestion I think!
  3. I assume this is when phones used to measure new engine fitment back in the day?
  4. Tell me stuffs for the Trumpet here. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/55641-tumekes-25-pi-trumpet/ Trumpet Build Threads
  5. One British car is stupid. 2 is more stupidist. 1972 Triumph 2.5 PI with 4 speeds and a switch to make some more speeds. Purchased of the tardme for much less than advertised on account of it not working. Was a deceased estate so little information about the not working could be given. Did ascertain that money has been spent, and there is receipts for new metering units and the like. Has been repainted, and clear is blistering in places. There's rust in the front guard, back D pillar window frame and back valance. Spares panels are were supplied with the car but are yet to be collected. So far I've looked for some spark, found it, then lost it, then found it again. I have had it running on some cylinders but not the prescribed 6. So far suspect the coil is a bit average, and probably lots of other things. The main problem, however, is that I think it's been Barried, so nothing can be taken for granted and a full going over needs to happen once I can get the thing to run. All help will be accepted, and I'm sure someone will set up a discussion topic thing for me cause I don't know how.
  6. I didn't think mine leaked oil until I noted it had no oil. Normal service then resumed. Good to see the Oldschool stand is close to the edge so we can bugger off before the prescribed 3pm official. I say everyone bring a deck chair and pretend we're the Jowett club or something Barryish, and then advertise doing hourly displays on how to use your Makita to cut springs.
  7. MIG welding. Good advice. Yup I did a spot on each side then cooled, then another spot on each side and cooled etc. The panel steel is pretty thick on the old girl too
  8. *disclaimer on Barry Engineering shed* If the owner has got rid of everything / shed empty by then / we might have to go to the pub. Or @kempy's. Unlikely but being upfront as it's a bit out of my control.
  9. http://www.classiccarparts.co.nz on the North Shore does fuel pump rebuild kits and other stuffs if that's usefull.
  10. There are a few bubbles around the car that suggested rust, but of course they CAN'T be, because the old Barry I purchased the car off said that all repairs were done with SOLID STEEL MAYTE. NO BOG IN THIS CAR. Thought I'd have a look at the solid steel, so hit it with a disc and found this. Thanks Barry - Roger. Ok, exploratory surgery required I guess. There's your problem The Rootes Group, in their vast intelligence, put a lump of foam sponge in between the inner and outter skin. This is the rust filled sponge. Pulled said sponge out, Rust converted all the inner stuff (still very solid thank goodness) and put some fish oil type stuff throughout all the cavities. Notice the factory inspection hole on the inner guard (sans rubber grommet) so that I can do the same in the future. Ran out of panel steel, however no one can see the BACK of my filing cabinets, so there might be some missing now. Bent and cut into shape. Did a welding. The hole above the tacked panel has meat around it so will be a secondary repair after this one. A third repair will be done on the inner door jam as well. I don't have the skill to do it all as one. I'm also sure my work is a bit shit by other peoples standards... But I try! Seam welded (a few holes still to be finished) and grinded to make sure I was doing stuffs right. So, first bit of welding done on the car. I have since done the other two repair patches above this one and tidied things up. Etch primer seems to be the same colour as the paint which is handy as I've got a few other patches to tackle when i can be bothered and would rather do all the painting at the end, so it can stay in primer without being too noticeable! Tell me I'm doing it shit in the 'discuss'. Happy to learn stuffs
  11. If you need another shed south auckland ways, I got a doozy in Papatoetoe. ... PS - if included bring money for oldschool stuffs for sale (deceased estate...)
  12. Did some towing. I guess I'm gonna have to start another thread soon for the new project.... Also seemed to have fixed ride height in the back temporarily.
  13. Mk I Estate.... Oh yeah buddy. I'm no Barry But it might be a Raymond May's head.....
  14. Nice. Spotted this Z car at Kumeu if you want some inspiration for under-bonnet blings.
  15. Wellsford's better than a mess! Papatoetoe but not really on the way with the rest, so can wait.
  16. Front looks not broken - you said the rear needed work? I have an idea..... Again - fixed.
  17. Probs be spannering in the pits. Nothing quite like having 15 minutes to find a 'intermittent miss' when you can't start the motor.
