  1. Rotary would be the dream but i find myself limited to what i have in the yard and of course, finances. Have a few SU carbs off, were they quite common place on english vehicles?
  2. Finally got a chance to spend a couple hours starting the strip down and having a closer look at things. The old girl is in bloody good shape. Had a bit of a measure up and sit and ponder after I had got to this point. Was bloody awesome to get cracking into it. Ill definitely need to rebuild chassis rails and box them out. The firewall will be getting moved back slightly too. Got called out again so had to put the strip down on hold for today.
  3. Just starting a discussion thread which I will be chucking into the first reply on my build thread. I’m having trouble deciding on which avenue to take on this one and would appreciate any sort of wisdom or advice. Option one, is running gear from a 94’ Suzuki Escudo. V6 manual gear box and diff etc. Option two, is low and slow. Keep everything factory apart from some adaptors to change the stud pattern to 5 x 114.3 pcd so I can run some widened Steelies that are stronger.
  4. Got the old girl up in the air and had a sniff around. Looks like shes 98 percent there. A couple of minor patches where its heaved between two panels but otherwise absolutely mint! Not bad for a 70 year old car. Theres really not much structure there at all and it would require a ton of work to put anything late model in there so i think i might just have to make her low and slow with factory gear. Will get into the prep in a couple of weeks IMG_5667.JPEG
  5. Not much has happened lately on the whip. I have 3d scanned the car to get it onto some sort of program and have a play around with body lines and seeing what i can do to make the rear guards a wee bit more pumped. Spend a lot of time trying to track down bits and pieces for it and deciding if a barra is probably a bit big and going with a 20v 4age instead. Also in the process of widening some steelies. Have been rather busy doing a ground up resto on this 8 wheeler fuso:
  6. Have found a couple of donor cars for parts. The plan so far is to pull the subframes out of the legacy and grab the Barra and trans and associated looms out of the Falcon. Other than I’ve just been far too busy restoring an old Fuso tow truck at work. This thing will see some love, always make time for the good things.
  7. Wanted to get it moved so had to figure out how to get it going, pretty simple really, just a pain on the dark. Managed to get her fired up after doing a quick terrible makeshift conversion to 12 volt. Runs on all four but has one hell of a blown head gasket and all gaskets every where else have decided to leave the chat, too. Blue flames for miles when I tried to get it moving with a rusted stuck handbrake. Bit of fun for the night. Still can’t decide what to replace this 5hp shaped ingot of shittiness with.
  8. Here are some photos of the old girl when I first picked her up with the truck. Came with plenty of spare parts which I probably won't use as i'll likely be be throwing some later model japanese gear in there.
  9. Yeah I think I might end up going that way. 3k prob, undecided wether to go with something injected or not
  10. No photos today as I'm on my phone and it takes a bajillion mb to upload them. But I got the bonnet off and stripped it down to bare steel and phosphoroused it, found a bit of rust and is going to need a few patches but I'll wait till I can get the ute upto work and fit it all up to see the shape of patches I need to make, prob a good thing as let the phosphorous stay on there as long as possible. Also it's good solid mild steel panel so extra bonus there as will have something to weld to! Lol Am just going to attack it one removable panel at a time until I'm at the core vehicle and the real headaches and screaming sessions begin. Also found a website that sells reproduction parts to replace just about everything on the uterus, which is super fucking cool but I still can't decide to go all japanesey on it and lop a 3 or 4k in there. So will compile a list of crap that I'll need. But for now I'll order in a sheet of 1.6 or 1.8 steel and get to le work on the beast. Doors off tonight and all the parts stripped out. Photos next post.
  11. Yeah, she's definitely in poor condition and I hope so to! And sweet, how do I do this inline business? Instead of linking it do I just copy and paste photo or is it a bit more complicated than that? Sorry for the noobness
  12. Hi, I am new to old school and well forums altogether so bear with me as i get used to it haha. This is my 1957 or 54 (Im not crystal on the year) Standard 10 Ute Bloody gem if you ask me. It is for lack of better word....Rooted. There is proper flintsoneing going on in both footwells and the sills are pretty much non existent. Also the entire bottom skin on the underside of the vehicle has completely vanished - taking with it pretty much all the mounts holding the leaf springs and all accosiated links. Why would you want to restore this you absolute moron?! You may ask, And normally i would agree as im a lazy ass beer drinking dude. But it has been passed onto me so i feel kind of obligated. And i actually like it, and wanna give it a bit of low, and maybe something of the k series line up from toyota. And widen the factory steelies But for now try and focus on making it a vehicle again, not a glorified sieve. Heres some pics http://imageshack.com/a/img19/8276/th01.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img34/1277/cyck.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img163/6846/tezh.jpg If i have done this wrong or linked the photos wrong please let me know //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/42505-patty06s-57-standard-10-ute/
