  1. My dad had a CF bedford with a 2.3 in it back in the day that he used to tow his stockcar. I wish he still had it, These things are lush
  2. if you figure this out or come across any wiring diagrams let me know please, I think my dads Daimlers looms all messed up actually....
  3. I'm too stoked on this car like actually Would there be anyway to widen the front track width to match the rear? So it won't understeer heaps? Or nah? No issue? For the pan hard rod I suppose you need and adjustable one to keep diff centre as its lowered right? Gonna cut up and modify your current or complete aftermarket one? Personally I think it'll be way better with the wider diff as I dislike how when people normally build commodores it's 20s tucked up on the guards and they look better filled out Throw some stretched tyres onto the rear too for ultimate herrafrush scene points. Do it. Doooo itttt. And our commodores can be best friends with our stretched and too wide wheels
  4. THIS IS SO COOL!! Can you go wider on the front? or spacers/something to justify running flares all round which I reckon would look sweet What about something like these for the flares? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/body-kits-mouldings/auction-616546664.htm
  5. on a side note i recently aqquired some 15x7 hdt momo star reps for dirt cheap and they had worn tyres on them so i proceded to wear them out. Was thinking about running them but they would need like 50mm spacers behind them to sit close to the guards which is lame but they do look period as which is awsome and i got bored (seems to be quite a dangerous thing to happen to me) and took all the springs out for a laugh Oh i haven't done much else to it.. Ive acquired most of the parts for the next stage of it but need to get the current project out of the garage before i can start with that. So for now the starfire gets hell
  6. ^where can you get those from?
  7. Man i miss this thing. I really need to stop getting sidetracked on other projects
  8. Quick question, when swapping the starfire out and putting in the 202 (black or red 202?) did you have to change the subframe or did it drop onto the starfire subframe? And then to evolve on that even more did you have to change the subframe when putting the v8 in? Thanks
  9. Thanks. I managed to fill the garage with smoke and it took ages to clear. It still smells like rubber though... Gotta love it. And it proves STARFIRES CAN SKID Yes those wheels are HQ stud pattern but im not really driving it anywhere at the moment. (Im aware its stressing the studs and will probably break them if I continue to use them.) but Im sort of stumped as to what to do at present because I don't really have any other wheels I want to put on there, Cant get adapters as the offset of the hotwires STILL sticks out the guards as is, so yeah itll have to do for now. I still haven't given up on my widened steels though. They will hopefully be back on the car in the near future. or a variant of them will be as I think 60 profile tyres are to large now....
  10. So i haven't really done much on this lately, I got pulled over a while back and ticketed for 'operating a vechile not up to warrantable standards' In other words my rear tyres stuck out the guards excessively. So i got ticketed and told to fix it. So pretty much its been sitting in the garage since the start of april whilst i decided what to do. I had a set of 14x7 and 14x8 hotwires that Id bought for the kingswood and some good 195/70r14s on some crappy steel wheels so i gave the hotwires a quick clean and got tyres mounted and threw them on for the mean time. Since then ive also had to pull the interior out as my carpets were soaked from all the rain we have been having lately to find a bit of rust in the drivers and passengers footwells which is average and needs fixing. And well now those good tyres arent all that good anymore.... Starfire powered tyre slaying! http://oldschool.co....ms-84-vk-mayte/
  11. This might help... Check if there is any fault codes present in the ecu. Might point you in the right direction...
  12. i was thinking about four inches. I've heard the front suspension geometry gest real bad real quick, so i was going to do 2in on springs and 2in (or more) on spindles. which would be 4 inches but the same as a 2inch drop on springs.... right?
  13. Does anyone know where I could get some drop spindles for the front of an HZ kingswood? Thanks in advance
  14. If its static at that height it will be nuts! its gonna get stuck on everything Stay static, plate the chassis build skid plates and just drag it everywhere. Props for diving into it! It looks like its going to be better than new
  15. Thats awsome! I actually did not know there really any Ladas in NZ, but seeing the threads on them here made me think they are cool little cars. 21 second quarter mile club!? Man it was a chilled run, but that was foot to the floor, and running it right up the rpm. Still i got wheel spin of the line though Alright... im slightly too stoked on it at the moment for what it is....
  16. Hahaha! Thanks man, theres a little bit more planned for it in the future so stay tuned, Ive been planning it for a while [since before I joint here actually] but my utes been seriously side tracking progress so i need to crack into that to free up some time to sort a few things for the VK then get into that. Your VBs cool, I like the idea of keeping the standard wheels and polishing them. Are they 14s? if so run some stupid wide tyres on them so it looks really 80s style. like 245/50s on the standard 6js :] Quite possibly what sort of Lada do you have? Its all about getting out there and giving it a go isnt it? But all it succeeded in doing was making me want to go faster.... Anyone got ideas on how to make the STARFIRE go fast for cheap?.... hahahahaha Im serious.....
  17. I went to Night Speed Drag Wars last night and thought Id have a go. I started with a first run down the quartermile of 23.007s @ 95.2Km/h and improved that to a best of 21.484s @ 102.39Km/h. But I got knocked out first round of the DYO racing as I dialled in a 21.2 and ran a 21.594s @101.82Km/h. on another note also i scored a super badass APEXI muffler....
  18. How come? Why not Nolathane? Just curious?
  19. plan at the moment is to clean up the chassis, replace the worn parts in the suspension and brakes and then attack the body. nothing too crazy right now. probably lower it a bit too. Are NOLATHANE suspension bushes worth the money? Im pretty lucky with the garage, Its massive haha. Yeah, theres my daily AE92 corolla floating around somewhere and my dads 1965 Daimler 250 V8 thats been a project thats come to a halt hiding in the back there.
  20. So i swapped the spare gearbox in. swapped linkages ect straight over from the other gearbox. Started her up and went to try first. the same horrible noise emmited from this gearbox too. So i was stumped. I thought no way can two gearboxs have no first gears only. So i went away and consulted my magic HZ manual... I came to the conclusion that possibly adjustment of the linkages was out. So I adjusted them as per instructions and tried again. and drove to the bottom of the road and back and I puchased a canopy because its cool. The floorpan was covered in a thick layer of black goop that had the consistency of marmite. I spent a day scraping that off to find that the PO had replace the drivers side floor pan with a thin piece of panel steel... and the motor was leaking oil like no tomorrow out of the sump so i removed it for a freshen up this is it removed from the vehicle. then i was left with this.... I gave her a look over and decided that I really wasnt happy with the job the previous owner had done and that the suspension and brakes were all looking a little sad. So what have i got to lose?? Its from here that Lana the VK Commodores really not been getting much attention. So the plan at the moment is to clean up the chassis, replace the worn parts in the suspension and brakes and then attack the body. Thanks for looking
  21. Link to discussion thread: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/36871-shakotoms-1979-hz-kingswood-utility/ This is my 1979 HZ Kingwood Ute. I wasnt really looking for another project car at that moment in time, and I had decided that after buying my VK Commodore I was saving for something American as my next car. But as you all know the best things appear when your not looking for them. Id first laid eyes on her at a swapmeet. I had a quick look over her and thought thats sort of cool, so I had a chat to the seller and got his contact details. And about a month later..... there she was being towed home... It was a long day that day, About 13 hours on the road from leaving home to getting home. I was glad to push her off the trailer and into the garage, She was driveable but supposedly had a broken gearbox. Whenever first was selected a horrible noise would be emitted from the gearbox, but she came with a spare gearbox. so that was alright. Some pictures from the next day: Shes powered by a Mighty RED 202 and had been converted to a 4 speed floor change at some point in her life. So i named her Donna Going by her production options supposedly she has a High Compression engine, and a heavy duty diff with an LSD Pretty much with that we started to strip it apart to swap the gearbox

  23. Thanks! Its getting there slowly. I was quite stoked on the burgerfuel turnout. There was some badass cars there. It looks alright it just needs guard work and smaller tyres to fit better. But theres still more instore for it in the near future. //oldschool.co.nz/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/smile.png
  24. I lowered the front approximately 50mm which makes it look a little better. I still want more lows in the future though. I went and took some photos of Lana the Commodore so heres a few
