  1. No welding of steering or suspension components but can I weld new mounts for brake hoses/abs lines to the bottom of a adjustable coilover body? - mounts for these differs from what car needs
  2. Got a couple of genuine key blades ordered and cut to replace to one I had which was sticking in the locks due to wear more roof rack use -best mod so far
  3. Roof rack testing Very practical.
  4. Aerodynamic. - wheels are AME Windmuhles in 14x6 and are directional lefts and rights. Tread pattern combined with the roofracks from @hampie (and the ride height ) give it more of a rally car vibe than intended…. Would really like to get to a track day or something in this sometime soon. -Oh and have a AutoSport bucket seat sitting in the garage I need to figure out how to attach to some seat rails but thats a story for next time…. -And looking for another cheap set of cool wheels to put aside for getting some track tyres eventually ( 14s or 13s)
  5. Tyre guy fitted them all up, and aligned it (we decided we would try an ‘fast street’ setup to give it good turn in when your rushing to get the groceries and need to dive into a carpark at pace) -He’s also suggested I need to get a adjustable panhard rod and some rear spacers to even out the track width so they’re next on the list Then road test - Definitely has more grip than the old hard supercats it came with and turns in pretty well now. + 10 go kart improvements
  6. I got the tyres stripped, asked tyre guy at work to keep them aside so I could put them back on he and said nope, they’re old and shit then promptly disposed of the tyres. I ended up doing a pick-a-part mission, and grabbing a rear hub then dropping the wheels and to an engineering shop and said make these fit that. Picked them up a few days later and with my wallet lighter tried them on the car and was happy that they fitted. -I’ve got intentions of getting them dipped, the kerbing welded up and machined back to OEM edging, and then repainted/powder coated with new decals, but my budget does not allow for that at this present moment in time. I requested the tyre guy at work to find me some tyres to exemplify the go kart handling characteristics of the might K11 -we had settled on a set of Advan ad08rs but came to find his supplier had no stock. So ended up with a set of Yokohama Advan A539s in 175/60r14 79H -which were budget friendly and not a super low quality tyre like most else in the segment. proceeded to fit them to the alloys
  7. ALRIGHT AS I PROMISED. I found this set of wheels about 3 days after I’d told Alex I’d take the car -considering I’d been on and off hunting for cool 4x100 low budget wheels the whole time I had my AE92 as a daily and not had any luck makes me think the universe works in mysterious ways… I had a mate in Christchurch pick them up for me and store them until I got down there to grab them, Nearly bought tyres to fit them for the drive home off his mate in chch - but had none on the shelf, so just lugged them home in the boot much to my wife’s delight… I got home and excitedly went to fit them only to find the centerbore was too small to fit a Nissan resulting in me sitting in the driveway pondering my decisions.
  8. Life’s getting in the way of small bike stuff at the moment. CG125 is there and works / just need a backpack , just dunno if I can commit eh
  9. Then @Mop Head featured me on his Moving the world channel https://www.movingourworld.com/volkswagen-beetle-stanced-edition and now it’s back in the shed again….
  10. Put some ribbons on it, what a combo!! Polished up well. Did some more polishing on the day All set for the big exit and off to start the honeymoon the next day!
  11. @GuyWithAviators took a beautiful rolling photo on the way to my wedding - which is now framed and on the wall in the hallway
  12. Life moved on, and it just sat waiting. I got married back in March, and we decided we wanted to use the Bug as a wedding car. Dragged it from its slumber, changed the oil, new set of plugs, fixed the coil wiring, drained the stale gas, a new battery and got it running! Ordered some bits to fix the play in the link pins / regreased the front wheel bearings, found the RF wheel cylinder had stuck from sitting so replaced that. Dragged it back home and spent three quarters of a day polishing the paint and the chrome.
  13. This spent most of the last few years tucked away in a shed while life got in the way. i think it got put in the shed mid 2017 , then came back out at the end of 2018 then back into the shed mid 2019
  14. Here’s a couple of photos off a film roll I just got developed. next to a river on the way to Hamner Springs And in the driveway hopefully next time I’ll have a wheels fitted update….
  15. Paid for a photoshoot - pretty average photographer tbh.
  16. No updates on the k11 front really, just driving and enjoying the fuel economy - Fuelly app says $0.16 a km @Raizer got a lathe and surprised me with a package on my door step containing one custom gear knob. 10/10 good feel in the hand / nice shaft fitment
  17. Have just been running errands / checking boot capacity (weed eater touched both windscreens…) Had the head lights polished, freshening the face up. - Was looking for FL2 lights but all at pick a part were busted Stylish plate frames from the stash. Lame update, But have done a couple of pick a part runs finding various bits to remedy some issues/ broken bits. -fixed the boot lock (was missing the rod from lock to latch) -fitted all missing retaining clips the the roof lining, replaced the RH a pillar trim as had a hole drilled in it, found a set of floor mats and a new carpet (Need to give them a good clean and swap them over) and a good pair of drivers door hinges as currently have a fair bit of play.
  18. Have you considered a Daewoo Matiz? (just get a 2 door either way) Thanks, I think there’s this guy down your way that has a cabriolet version coming up for sale, Would be great with a manual swap… I’ve got a full set of centercaps for the superlative Ds -I think there’s just one or two of the fake centerlock nuts missing. Plan is to get something sorted when I reco those eventually. Maybe 3d printed? If I can get friendly with someone who has one/cad access. and for the AMEs, No center caps unfortunately, I do like them with out even though it may reduce the aerodynamic efficiencies… -might have to look into getting some cut eventually when they get reconditioned too.
  19. I was gonna save these for tomorrow, but I’ve posted them on Instagram already.. My favourite styles of wheels especially on cars with small brakes are full faced wheels, I tend to gravitate towards aero wheels or mesh faced wheels. The dream has always been to own a set of OZ rally or TOMS racing dish wheels but they are getting unobtainable. I scored a set of Racing Hart Superlative D for my S14 So when I found these, I had to snap them up. I had a mate in Christchurch collect them for me and store them for a short time period. They made there way back up country on the back seat of the K11. Yet another fine feature of this small vehicle - 205l of cargo space with a max of 960l with the seats folded down! The wheels are a set of directional AME Windmuhles in 14x6 et35 specifications. I think they complement the factory aero the G# editions come with -front bumper and spoiler. Hopefully the aerodynamic properties of them assist in improving the 5.7l/100km fuel consumption figures.
  20. After driving just shy of 1700km over 5 days, I think I’m ready to review a K11. Im well impressed with this small car, It’s got ample interior space, great visibility with the glasshouse top half, the driving position is comfortable with all controls being well positioned and laid out within reach including a left foot rest and good legroom. The seats support you well even when on them for many hours. It’s really easy to drive, and doesn’t fatigue you on longer trips. I’m really looking forward to city driving in this compared to my 4wd ute. One of the aspects I’m impressed with is how much easier it maintains open road speeds (even when faced with an incline) than I was expecting. The steering has good feel and it handles like a little go kart in the corners. This car being a G# version has front and rear swaybars. I’m also not sure what’s going on with the suspension, but it’s very firm and corners fairly flat. Has similar ride qualities to the coilovers I had in my corolla. And what Im most impressed with is the fuel economy. I made it from Spring Creek to the top of the Bombays (620km) on a tank of gas. This was achieved 2 up, amongst some spirited driving with a boot full of luggage, snacks and something I carted from Christchurch that I’ll save for tomorrow…
