  1. What's the go if the forecast isn't looking too flash? Is it an outdoor track only?
  2. Yeah, don't want to show up after a two hour trip down to Hamilton only for it to have been cancelled!
  3. Yup, that's my name, thanks for letting the world know (I almost forgot to!) Hello EDIT: ...Oh, it's Thomas. Of course it is.
  4. Hmm, I'm thinking the guards might just be fibreglass... I think I read the specs he gave me wrong and the cutting/re-welding was only for the guard rolling process lol. In that case it's not too difficult a task to go about it the way you guys reckon to (and rightly so). I'll concentrate on getting the dent in the rear popped out, duck-tail spoiler moulded to hatch and chip out of front-right guard sorted first and then go from there Haha, the reason I haven't been updating the thread a lot just yet is because I haven't been out of the bloody thing Cheers man, it will definitely be coming along to the drags! Might try find some 14" rims for the rear with slightly wider tyres to use on the day. Until I start getting crap done on it next week, here's a phone shot from yesterday:
  5. Yeah, I got under there and they are bloody low alright. Will have to be careful at times. They guards definitely look different, but as the whole guard has been cut/widened and re-welded, I don't want to go trying to change them just yet! I think they sort of suit the theme of the car, so they don't bother me too much personally, but each to their own
  6. It had 2.5" of clearance at lowest point (exhaust), so it's much more sensible and doesn't even look much different at all! Still bloody low lol. I'm going to make this thing tidy again, no more drift spec average-ness
  7. It would've been better if it didn't go cold 30 seconds after unwrapping it
  8. Today I got a fresh WOF and Rego, then popped down to Platinum Wheels to have them lift the car up 10mm all-round and get a wheel alignment. Cool story bro.
  9. I may spray the sideskirts white, but I think it may actually be a bit too much going wider rear fenders as well
  10. I told the old man that when he had the trailer made for his General that it 'probably' would end up being difficult to sell come time it isn't needed any more. It also makes towing anything else just as confusing for the general public trying to figure it out haha Funny you say that. They are rated to 400kg a corner I believe and we've always towed the General perfectly fine with them... today I looked in the side mirror and saw one side sagging, so got out and the back ones were a couple of clicks too loose. I think just limiting ourselves to the orange theme means only these flimsy ones are available. For the Dodge though we put a couple more through too just for reassurance and that works Thanks man, yeah, stay subscribed
  11. Loving the title haha. Yeah, it was initially an auto, someone mentioned it may have been the only 'original' auto AE86 in the country? Nah, I like the red/black but the paint's quite tidy and looks good in person, so I'll just give the bumpers and sideskirts a re-spray, pop that dent out of the back, ducktail moulded to hatch and enjoy the car as is I've got other little plans at the moment, but I'll get the ones mentioned sorted first and see how the budget looks. ...on that note, is anyone interested in a NZ new, low KM, mint, supercharged 1996 1.8L MX-5?
  12. Hey guys, So, finally after a very long search I ended up down in Taupo this morning picking up my new 1986 AE86 GT Apex! Some of the specs: Engine: - Aftermarket high compression pistons - TRD 0.8mm headgasket - Polished and ported head - Underbucket shims - HKS 272in 264ex camshafts - Intake adjustable cam gear - Removed TViS - TRD spark plugs - Bosch leads - Extractors - 2.25" exhaust system Driveline: - Jun ultra-lightweight flywheel - Heavy duty clutch - TRD 2-way LSD - 4.77 final drive Suspension: - Custom front coilovers - Tokico 20 damper adjustable shocks - Whiteline rear sway bar - 8kg front springs & 6kg rear TRD springs - New front lower arms - Rear upper-diff arms - Swift adjustable panhard rod - Rear strut brace - Full prothane bush kit Wheels: - Custom made 14x8 -7 (fronts) & 14x9 -5 (rear) in black Body: - DMax 25mm wide front guards - Seam welded - 50mm flares (rear) - Vertex front bumper and sideskirts - Custom cream paint (70's Honda Accord style I think) - Fog lights (very rare apparently) - Rear guards cut, rolled and re-welded Interior: - Bride Zeta 2 driver's seat - Bride reclinable passenger's seat - 21-point bolt-in roll cage - Facelift grey & black interior (very tidy) - New door cards - New hoodlining - New carpets - Nardi steering wheel - Omori 10k RPM gauge - Electric windows and mirrors - Heater, but not AC As it's already had quite a bit done to it, I'll concentrate on the minor aesthetic touch-ups first (such as that nasty little dent in the back-right corner above bumper) and also sourcing a grille! I'll go grab a warrant on Monday hopefully and should be good to go Will keep thread updated. Cheers, SIC
  13. I MAY have eaten dinner before the attempt, I forgot. But I'm keen to try it again just to say I did it before the company goes under... although it was pretty bloody gross lol. Dem black beans.
  14. Yes, I failed miserably at the last meet. As soon as I got home I put lipstick on and screamed at myself in the mirror until I passed out.
  15. People will be asking themselves at this point, "surely this can't be real?". Oh yes... it's real and it will be magical.
  16. Haha, not even kidding. Don't worry, I'm sure one or two photos will be popping up ;D
  17. Bugger! I would, but I've got to be a dinosaur that day
  18. Ok, I need to try that place before they too close.
  19. Missed it today, but we'll be there in Ol' Carrot. I want to go to the diner there too
  20. Sounds like the seats are too big! I had 'death arms' when I first got my Rotax (before changing to a seat moulded for me)... you'd drive around for 20 minutes not realizing you're just fighting to hold yourself in the kart, but once you stop... I wouldn't say it literally feels like your arms have been doused in gasoline and set on fire... but yeah.
