  2. Oh yeah got new tyres after popping the old ones with a burnout IMG_6438 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Twinklyfe
  3. I think I saw ya haha. Was in at the AA booking my restricted test Shit yeah, that road is my speed test road. Then do sick skidz in the sand at the beach IMG_4806 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr
  4. Yep they are. That car has cross plys all round :s
  5. Got the engine out of the blue car last night. Gonna give it a clean, paint maybe and swap over bits like engine mounts etc from my other engine then swap subframes next weekend. IMG_8945 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr I wish I could just roll it like this! IMG_8958 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Up in the air IMG_8970 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr IMG_8973 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr The filthy powerplant
  6. Change the permissions of the video to public, can't see it at the moment
  7. Well I probably won't have to source another engine now! Today's efforts included getting my $50 parts car that hasn't run for over 10 years going. Swapped carb and distributor over from mine, bit of CRC down its throat, start in gear to unstick the clutch and away it went. Quite impressed to be honest. Video in link below: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=3203818911780&l=2592783663837938750 Will probably take the cylinder head off mine and put it on this, the valves were a bit rusty/sticky. Then just swap subframes between the cars and be away laughing. Hopefully anyway
  8. Bought some MG Rostyle wheels from Trademe. Gonna have to pump the front guards a bit as expected to make them fit but otherwise pretty good I think IMG_7168 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr IMG_7170 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr Today I went for a drive out to the Ashburton Aviation Museum, took some photos DC3 x Austin 1300 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr IMG_7094 by GuyWithAviators, on Flickr During the 250ish km drive burned through about 3L of oil Going to have to pull the engine out again to sort that. Thinking about building up a good strong engine, maybe some performance upgrades. But while I'm doing that I want to put another A series engine in place so I can keep driving it. Has anyone got a cheap and running 1098/1275cc engine lying around? //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/
  9. Yeah was sweet! Picture spam 7-IMG_6595 by mdw1968, on Flickr 1-IMG_6586 by mdw1968, on Flickr 4-IMG_6591 by mdw1968, on Flickr 5-IMG_6592 by mdw1968, on Flickr 6-IMG_6593 by mdw1968, on Flickr
  10. Hey i5oogt, will you have stickers to buy tomorrow?
  11. ^What he said, thanks Dad Yeah I noticed you disappeared. It was on the ute because after coming down the hills I lost the tail light lens, swingarm nut and two sprocket bolts haha. I fixed that and have just put new tires on it, so it's all good now. Running sweet as it should
  12. Nope starts fine. Smells like oil burning though. It's white/blue. The oil level has gone down a bit too
  13. Not really a proper update, just wanted to share these photos I took on an old roll of film I found. Pretty crap really but I like the look of them. img081 by mdw1968, on Flickr img079 by mdw1968, on Flickr and one of my bike img098 by mdw1968, on Flickr Also, a question, the car runs great now. But after it's been sitting for awhile and I start it, it blows white smoke quite a bit for about 5 mins. I think oil is leaking into the cylinders when it's off but I don't know where. Anyone had this problem with an a-series engine? Cheers
  14. I drive a Landcrab to school Also Connor the wagon looks so good on those wheels! I like the wooden roof rack too
  15. QFT . To try and stop this in my 1300 I need to replace the window seals like you did, have you still got the generic ones from Basis? I think they might fit my car if you're willing to part with them
  16. Advert by mdw1968, on Flickr Went for the first proper drive after finishing the engine build yesterday. After dramas with plugs oiling up for no apparent reason we were away. Did almost 100 km with no troubles. I forgot how much I enjoy driving The above picture was taken at the ashley gorge and I made it look like a period style advert in photoshop. 17. I hadn't thought of designing my own one, why didn't I think of that.. This is why I love OS Cheers for that, gentleman's barber sounds good. This gives me something to do in Art class at school tomorrow.
  18. Hey guys, can I get your opinions on something! I'm wanting to put a logo on the side of my car, kind of like a company car but with a logo/company from the 60s or 70s. I think it will look cool and be something different The only problem is I can't find a logo I really like.. I'm leaning towards NAC but I would like other options too The look I'm going for is something like this: Lada by mdw1968, on Flickr But with period NZ logos of course. Any ideas/tell me to shut up?
  19. Don't give me ideas that wouldn't be too hard though, put an automatic one in the back and just leave it in drive
  20. <3 Only one goes and the rusty white one is only the rear pillars back, awaiting a motorbike engine to be dropped in the boot and handlebars put in front of the back seat
  21. New post up: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35013-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/
  22. Picture heavyish post So this thing was running ok, then went to start it and was as smoky as and wasn't running right at all. Whipped the head off and found this: IMG_0109 by mdw1968, on Flickr Doesn't seem right at all. Turns out when we got the cylinder head reconditioned they didn't put a metal bung back in to block a water hole up so it has been pushing onto the gasket. IMG_0108 by mdw1968, on Flickr Got them to put it back in IMG_0154 by mdw1968, on Flickr Not very impressed, won't be going back there. After that was done I put new valve stem oil seals in IMG_0155 by mdw1968, on Flickr and am now in the process of putting new ignition parts on IMG_0163 by mdw1968, on Flickr This morning I picked the car on the right up. I need a new bootlid and had one offered to me for $50 but then this car came along for $60 with a better boot than mine so a bit of a no brainer IMG_0156 by mdw1968, on Flickr Pretty much all there apart from windscreen, carb and distributor. Thinking about taking the bits I need off, taking the body off the subframes then bolting them together to make a SWB fwd go kart thing IMG_5686 by mdw1968, on Flickr How many ado16s is too many? IMG_5691 by mdw1968, on Flickr My one makes the blue on look like it has a lift-kit
