  1. I can't bring myself to bodge it up! OCD spec haha I would remove both inner and outer skins by the spot welds and weld new panels in, only way to do it right and remove any chance of the menace creeping up again! Returning to stock may be an option (with the 2.3 motor), no longer have stock springs etc anymore though. Got a bit carried away and the engine bay is essentially empty now anyway (all bagged and tagged at least!). I'll have a hunt and let you know about the door handles
  2. Calling it quits on this piece I think. Have found rust in both rear wheel wells (stupid BMW double skins) which would require replacement of the whole panels + realignment of the shock mounts and all that, just no time/money for that sort of work. Make me an offer, have a lot of parts/spares to go with.
  3. Ah good advice! Any idea of the differences between the 15 & 16 units? Look identical to me, same motor, pump, tank capacity but no specs available for my one. Thinking I'll just assume they have the same output when considering tool purchases.
  4. Sweet, scored a Marquip 15 3 cylinder jobby at last! Much excite, neighbours aren't going to like me much anymore.
  5. From what I've read/been told, the 3cyl units run quieter & cooler than a single. Quite important for me because we're in suburbia & the garage is close to the boundary. I'm not in the business though, correct me if I'm wrong!
  6. Ah, those seem sweet, would still prefer a 3cyl marquip if possible! Budget around $1500
  7. I agree, looks a bit off at that hight man. Probably a whole lot better once the engine is in and front camber is dialed in a bit? Also having so much of the tyre tread exposed contributes a bit I think I respect you keeping the original lines, but a slight pull of the front guards would make an immense difference and you could certainly keep the oem fold along the edge. In reality I know nothing, Just keep doing what you're doing man!
  8. Right, sick of trademe drongos with misrepresented compressors & people swiping just as I ask for a buy now. Does here work/have connections with Hindin Marquip distributors? Will bite the bullet and buy new, after the 16cfm dual control model, trade or cash pricing would be awesome if at all possible.
  9. Yeah once! It will be ready for Nats '16 I promise, then we can have e21 races yeah? Yeah Brent is a top man, and that car is going to be ridiculous when done! Going to be using his 323i motor while I build the 2.8 (long term, needs cash injected that I don't have). Happy to give you a ride when it's back on the road, I'm sure Sparkle will attest to this, they're nothing short of brilliant. Going disk rear end yeah, I lucked out and grabbed all the bits off that rust bucked I scrapped earlier! I'd keep an eye out for the 323i setup, you never know man. Being unloved, a whole bunch of e21s have been scrapped over the years. Just my preference, but I always prefer to use factory bits haha.
  10. So at around 7pm last night I got sick of dancing with the stars or whatever and went into the garage. Stripped all the carpet, underseal etc off. Use dry ice they said, it'll be fun they said! Well yes but I'm not going to find dry ice at 7pm. When motivation hits you run with it. Heat gun + scraper = Removed about 30kg (yes I'm a weirdo and weighed it) in underseal and that rubber/foam underlay shit. What's that in the corner? What you see there is the jack support, footwell skin has completely disintegrated & I can push that square out easily haha, fuck... New panels on order from Walloth&Nesch. Also had surgery today, nice and high on codeine, so I'll make the most of it and start attacking the tar/glue residue with Paraffin tonight, stay tuned for fun/fails. OH and if I ever meet the original owner I'd like to buy them a beer. Every surface/nook/cranny is caked in fish oil, saved this car no doubt.
  11. No hidden message there man, joking! ie. you will have so much space with a tidy shed that something should be done with it
  12. Mate you have ages. Draw some squares for hopscotch too please?
  13. Yeap definitely count me in for July date. I understand I haven't spoken to many of you, but do turn up to monthly/other meets now and then, others will confirm I'm not (too much) a weirdo.
  14. Fuuuuuuuck yes, best colourways all round as well holy balls. Why the false floor? Carpet/seats etc all look really tidy. could just throw a mattress in and roll?
  15. Wait wut? Mate the issue is at your end haha. I see tyres!
  16. Thanks for the advice, I've got a flasher unit on the way now thankfully. Have checked the wiring multiple times over & fairly certain everything is connected properly. What you said sounds right re. the indicators and ground though. Wondering if the switches could also be a source of my problems. Have cleaned them out but who knows. Tried two coils but no spark. New condenser + rectifier as well. Going to try a third coil when it arrives, hopefully that sorts spark issue because the wiring passed my basic continuity tests hah. Auckland's a great place to live you know, many bargains to be had. (Above statement is in no way biased by a desire to have it solved for me)
  17. Still being a pain, rewired with NOS loom, fucking park light is always on, no indicators, no spark, I'm now cross eyed from staring at the wiring diagram for hours, about to burn the whole bloody thing to the ground.
  18. Oh sweet, if you've got the kit and a hand go for it. Will be watching for sure. Keeping the paint as is? What was factory colour?
  19. Don't bother rebuilding the carb haha, find some form of adapter plate to throw a weber or Holley carb on instead. 9/10 of those solex hunks of misery are warped to shit. Even the merc techs would throw them out! Other than that, so so stoked to see another e21 on here!
  20. Yeah base prices are good but they charge 35c/km past 150km, on the hiace anyway
  21. Without giving away too much(it may not happen), Palmerston North, medium sized four cyl, handlebars not really above tank level so height shouldn't be a biggie. No particular rush to collect, could be in a few weeks to a month. you've probably worked it out anyway
  22. If all my cards line up right, I may be purchasing a motorbike from the lower North Island. It can't be ridden and there's a bit to bring up to Auckland so a van would be ideal. Is anyone willing to lend one? Will return it with a full tank of gas + payment of your choice. I know it's a big ask, so failing that, any recommendations for hiring one? Have looked at the mainstream options but the charge per km would ruin me. Cheers, Berj
  23. Yeah I would work on the loom if it wasn't tucked away with everything connected inside the pressed frame. Last thing I want is to sort this issue, then have it fuck out on me and have to pull the whole thing out again haha. Thankfully I scored a shop manual with the wiring diagram so that's one less headache! Thanks, though your kawa is really something to brag about, if only I had the coin!
