  1. So I've never bothered going down the route of having a car certed for any mods (really only car I had that was was my Beetle with bigger motor, narrowed beam etc..) so have no experience or reference for whats the best course of action or who the good guys are to talk too.. I've about to acquire and old merc and am thinking of bagging it. Have found multiple companies offshore etc that sell bolt in stuff, no mods needed to car etc but obviously it cant be that straightforward. So questions I have... - Who's a recommended certifier in Chch/ Canterbury thats got good knowledge/ experience with airbags - Any recommended shops to help with install etc? Chamberlains etc? - If anyones had any experience of this process with an old merc and have some pointers would be awesome too... Thanks in advance... PFA
  2. Yeah it’s the rust I want seen in person, I’ve had a few old mercs before so know the common places and the bastard of a job. Just gotta see if worth the hassle or wait for something else….
  3. I'm looking at this, not sure if i can get to AK before the auction finishes https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/mercedes-benz/220/listing/3489290890?bof=R3UmMFvt Car is located in Mt Eden. I know it has a bunch or rust, looks like surface but potentially structural too.. Doesn't run either as has sat for ages, think the carb is off too.. Anyway, if there was anyone that could check out/ run their eyes over it etc would happily float a box of beers or something your way... Just think it would save the owner the hassle of answering 1000 questions from me etc.. TIA
  4. Just wanna give Warrick another recommendation, just did a subframe repair for me... Was able to punch it out, do an excellent job and good $$..
  5. As stated looking for someone local for some subframe repairs.. Took the old victor in for a WOF today and it's had a smack in a previous life, need sorted to pass wof. Hoping sooner rather than later as have actually sold it and wanting to close out the deal, sort it for the new owner. Anyone out there have recommendations/ be interested etc... Thanks in advance
  6. Awesome, thanks all for the recommendations, sounds like Chamberlains are the go to! Will head in there and have a chat! cheers!!
  7. Morning, Looking for recommendations for someone local (CHCH), be it a sole operator or a business to do some suspension work for me. Looking at lowering a car, put blocks in rear and either cut or install new springs up front.. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
  8. So am about to collect a 63 Vauxhall Victor FB... Am wanting to lower it, have read somewhere, can't remember where, that escort lowering blocks fit straight in for the rear for the leaf springs, fronts easy enough to sort.. Anyone had any experience lowering one or suggest best way etc.. Thanks in advance
  9. Hey there, Random and very late notice request.. I've bought a car in Duds (Kenmure), and its getting freighted/ picked up tomorrow morning, only problem is all four tyres are flat. The owner thought they would be able to get it done before this but they haven't unfortunately.. Is there anybody down that way that would be able to help out? Would happily pay in beers or something...? I tried the AA as did she but they said no, and her other contact fell through... Thanks in advance..
  10. Anyone got any recommendations for car painters in Christchurch? Looking at getting the centers of some wheels painted... Already had them powder coated one colour, but want something more durable that a spray can job i'd do in the shed....

cheers, seat just bolts on at back with the front having a lip it tucks under. No problem hitting the pan, or the loop etc, more that i put the guard too low, so put bump stops in to stop it bottoming out!

just thin strips on the side to hole the vinyl for extra (finally riveted them today), figured the rail at the rear should be enough to hold it firm too....

Yeah same place, nah price was good i think.. Marshall Upholstery on Woodham Road I supplied the pan and the vinyl, he shaped with the different densities of foam etc, did all the sewing etc,glueing...all up $120. I mean would be nice if cheaper but happy to pay as he does a good job and so far no problemo's
