Started on the engine plates, I still need to find a magneto platform so I can trim the plates behind the engine to the right height to support the magneto, I have made the plates from 1/4" nice and solid.
  2. Finding that stud in the carburetor before it entered the engine was good, I have an air filter that the nut on the end of the shaft could fall off so I brazed it to the filter base
  3. I took the sump off and removed the oil pump and used a spare pump shaft to see if the cam gear has broken loose and even if I turn it with pliers its not slipping so thats not the problem. Fitted that extra pick up tube, and put it back together, plugged the oil pressure take off port and have run a copper line to the port in the filter housing, filled it with 20w50 and its got about 30 psi at idol and 40psi driving, it had about 40psi with 10w40 driving to but lower at idol. I got a gauge from Blackwoods and brazed a fitting into the back for a light bulb and wile it was apart I deleted where it sed blackwoods. Also I cut the filter open, nothing inside so it wasn't trying to destroy itself. Have I fixed the problem? I dont know, might of just been a crappy ali express gauge and line, and the pump might of been sucking air because thatnmissing tube gives another 1.5" more into the oil.
  4. They are pretty constant with each other, I am going to get one of those liquid filled ones tomorrow
  5. Pump looks good inside, I fitted an Argentinian made rebuild kit that was about 50 years old when the motor was done, but i didn't fit that little tube, the Fords dont have it but the Mercurys do, and I have the Mercury witch had all the fittings to run a remote filter and oil cooler.
  6. I took the sump off and removed the oil pump and used a spare pump shaft to see if the cam gear has broken loose and even if I turn it with pliers its not slipping so thats not the problem. I now think its cavitation or something to do with my remote filter or me leaving part of the oil pick up out.
  7. I am going to have to remove the engine and take it back to the guy who built it, its losing oil pressure totally sometimes, i have 2 gauges one befor the oil filter and one after, both are showing the same pressure and some times it fluctuates dramatically, the only thing I can think of is the oil pump drive on the back of the cam witch is pressed on has come loose. I pinned both of the gears in the pump. I should of got him to pin that one. I dont want to pay him any more money, I have had to take the heads off and fit new gaskets because he didn't seal the studs.
  8. I can give you the phone number of a guy on the shore who has a few old radiators, he was collecting all sorts of parts to build cars and is now selling it off
  9. I got it going, that low air pressure switch was jammed
  10. I got a brand new plasma cutter from the tool shed and get it home and plug it and its pree broken
  11. Thats the way I ended up fitting it, it slides down the stub and that steel plate is just a shield, I tried fitting it the other way with the hub packed with grease and some oozed out.
  12. They go on the stub and then press on to a tin cover witch is presed into the end of the hub
  13. Witch way wound would one fit this hub seal? It dosnt have a spring and is totaly different to the old ones

The down tube on the front of the frame had a budge in it about 20mm,managed to pull it back, also it was off to one side by about 20mm, got that good to, I will have to do some more measurements and see if its not bent anywhere elce.
  16. I forged some stub axles for a Mercedes and a RHD converson steering link for a Chevrolet, heat cycles are not any worries. Heating and beading parts might be founded apon.
  17. You can make tapperd holes by cutting the end off an old tie rod end and then drill a hole in the arm to the bolt size and heat it orange hot and drive it in.
