  1. That was a total waste of time, its restrictive, I jammed a hair shampoo bottle on the end of the vacuum that fitted the air filter base and punched a small hole in the side to check vacuum, believe it or not that little filter I am using at the moment has no restriction, I did make a foam filter for it a few years ago, oil barth dosnt flow enough and it did just what I thought and fill the filter with oil.
  2. I some how zinc plated every thing, I have a phosphoric acid barth I use for cleaning copper and it use to eat steal but now the acid is a dark green and just plates steel, I put some rusty bolts in and forgot and a few hours they looked like brand new.
  3. I think its sorted now, welded a 1/4" stud and made a little tube in the top of the cap and brazed it in so if it gets water on it it wont leak into the carb, the cap was crimped on before but now its totally rebuildable, I will put oil and foam in it and check it agents the old filter with a vacuum gauge on the vacuum cleaner, it may need silicon where it use to be swaged together, I am worried how the oil barth and the foam will behave together.
  4. I got this small AC oil barth filter, I took it apart and some of the dimensions inside were too small for a V8 but I am reworking the whole inside, my carb is a Holly 94 witch is like 180 CFM, I am ditching the wire filter as small bits of wire can come off, I hope to find some filter foam with large open cells, I hope it won't block with oil, I can test it with the vacuum cleaner 1st.
  5. Ran the Abro through the system as the instructions sed but took the thermostats out and had to put a rag over the radiator, then let it cool down for few hours and flushed it out, I have filled it with water now for a few days and no seepage, Few shops now sed they run a sealer through every old engine they do as it stops problems.
  6. They are handy if you need to back up a long dark drive at night
  7. Rang a couple shops and they sed after rebuilding any side valve they run a sealer in it. I got a sodium silicate / copper one made by ABRO, it gets drained out after 15 mins it recommends.

Got this magdyno from Goat, it has spark, I put a different cover on it and may take it apart and clean / lube it, I now have everything for the engine.

Made a center stand, this afternoon.
  10. Engine was reconditioned and block was decked and heads planed gaskets fitted with copper spray, I did about 3 months driving with just water, I retorque heads about 8 times, its only a very small leak like its damp round the gaskets.
  11. GM have a special product that is in the form of pellets
  12. Having trouble again with coolant wicking through gaskets, put new head gaskets in the Ford and all around the edge I can see small beads of coolant, its not a problem if I use water but as soon as I put antifreeze in it starts, Is there a product thats safe to use to seal the cooling system? I dont want to take it apart again, the coolant is not entering the combustion chamber or other way round.

Got the guards mounted, they are old bits of shit I found, stays are recycled junkcut and welded I, made sure everything has heaps of super stud lock on it and is straight and its good to go, that rear number plate/ light thing is off a Bantam, I choped it down, I might invest in a can of paint to touch up hear and there, I want to fuck up the chrome on the tank some how, I think you can do it with some acid and a rag and a car battery.
  14. You dont fuck around I must say. Is that assembly lube and cam lube in the sump?

Got some old tires from a friend's place, fitted new rim tapes and tubes, this will get it on its wheels to finish the mudgaurd stays, I will get new tires at another stage, front tire is a race tire so will probably be extra dodgy.

Is there some bearing that could support that flywheel with the small sprocket on the other side? Then I dont have to use that mag body and I can tuck the flywheel ignition right behind the cylinder

Some mags can still be good at 90 years old, but could fail at any time, I killed one on my B31 I recon from the lead falling off at full trottel, rebuild cost $1200 from the Maddocks, armature, was sent to Australia. That little alternator/ ignition is from a Lifan 125, it has 3 lighting coils and a source coil and a pick up for the CDI, I will make it so I can retard it from the handelbar control

I am thinking of using it to support the bearings to mount this tiny unit witch would take care of spark and charging, it would cost around $2000 or more to get an original magdyno and have it rebult.

Started on the engine plates, I still need to find a magneto platform so I can trim the plates behind the engine to the right height to support the magneto, I have made the plates from 1/4" nice and solid.
